What a beautiful place! I loved seeing the fawn lilies, fern, and moss and hearing and seeing all the different areas of water. My favorite hikes are creek hikes with little wooden bridges. This hike had it all and that big metal bridge at the end was pretty cool too. Thanks for sharing. You are definitely blessed with some beautiful places to visit .
The Spring Flower colours are the same as here in Wales. Wild Garlic fills the woods with their smell and the small white flowers and bright green leaves grow in swathes. Love the brew kit Wendy, essential gear! 😊
How lovely! Wildflowers are my favourite flowers. I can see why you take several hikes along that river trail because it is very beautiful. Every Spring I take Wildflower walks along the big creek near my home that flows down to a large reservoir several miles away. Trillium, Virginia Bluebells, Wild Geraniums, Bloodroot, teeny-tiny Marigolds, Violets - the creek banks are just covered with them, and next month the Morels will be popping up. I love seeing the massive White Oaks; they're so stark in the Winter and when Spring comes, everything comes alive around them softening the contrast. There's a pair of Eagles that fish the creek, Osprey, and Great Horned Owls as well. Lots of life to see out there. Thanks for sharing your special place with all of us Wendy. I would love it too.
Currently I'm in snowbound Eastern Canada and this video is a welcome breath of fresh air -- spring in the Western Province! Love it! Good to see you are safe and living life! Thanks for sharing with us!

I have a few places that are my favorites, too, that I like to check out at different times of the year to see the different flowers and plants. I'm also a senior hiker who also backpacks, kayaks, travels with my husband in our RV, and has a CZcams channel. I'm glad I found your channel!

I have only recently found your channel and I'm really enjoying it. I'm 50 and only started enjoying being out in nature since my divorce a few years ago. It's been very healing. I often wonder if I'm too late to exploring because you mostly see younger people doing it. It's awesome to see a more mature female rocking the wilderness like you do! Very inspiring ❤

Right now I am in Asheville, North Carolina and Spring is coming into full force. But I hiked in the mountains at 5800ft yesterday in snow and ice and very few signs of Spring (still beautiful though)! So glad you did this hike and shared it with us :)

What a treat to share your creekside and forest walk, thank you! Slowing down enough to see the tiny new things growing is a real treat when hiking alone. We lived in the San Juan Islands for a time and all the little orchids were found in the right season if you looked very carefully on the forest edges. When backpacking in the CA Sierra I used to carry a laminated colored sheet of local wildflowers so I could know what we were seeing and put a name to them - lighter than a guidebook. I so enjoy your videos, thank you for taking us along. Also the reminder to let your family know you're okay when you're running late - we appreciate the same from them!

A very beautiful hike Wendy I love all the trees and the ferns I live in the high desert in California but I have the desert flowers to look forward to I go hiking with my dogs for 2 hours every morning exploring and looking around and taking in the sights and listening to the birds have a good one😊

I go noth in the summer months where it takes 6 hours and take the back roads its a nice drive and a lot of bush and lakes . Look forward to your next video up .

There's an old poem we all learnt as children which says: I love a sunburnt country of droughts and flooding rains (paraphrasing). And yes, so it is.

Wendy, In the UK many of us wild swim - we would be leaping in those calmer sections of river & in all seasons! Do many people do that in Canada on the rivers & lakes we see you adventuring around?
Currently sitting under several inches of fresh snow here in Cochrane, AB, but planning our fall vacation for the east coast of Vancouver Island thanks in large part to inspiration from your videos. Trying to do some detective work to find out where all these great hikes are.
This is Englishman River near Parksville. There are many wonderful places to hike to including Strathcona Park, the Juan de Fuca trail, plus so many others. I don't think you will be hard up to find great places depending on time and stamina. I have lots of time but getting shorter on stamina these days!!! lol.
Another beautiful and refreshing walk Wendy - thank you - and the bounty of those flowers plus the vibrancy of the new moss and ferns/new growth. Question: what all do you take in your back pack and what is the weight you would be carrying?
On a day trip such as this I take my chair, my cook kit, a snack, some water, a rain jacket , my emergency whistle, phone and a small first aid kit- I expect it all weighs in under 8 -10 lbs.
Another enjoyable visit to nature's wonders, but for the first time, I had to endure four ads within the first 4 minutes 15 seconds, and that was too disruptive for me. Another CZcamsr I follow, who produces meditative music, has his videos set for no ads, but CZcams recdntly inserted them, anyway. Just want you to know about this experience, in case you weren't aware.
Wow, thanks . I didn't know that. I will investigate that but know I can't entirely stop the ads as that is what drives You Tube. Much appreciated comments.

thanks you for your lovely comments. The pants are made by a company called Fjalraven. They seem pricey to me but come with an excellent warrantee and I only need one pair. They seem very durable and are very comfortable too.
It looks like they are extremely similar. They are in the same group but I don't know if they are exactly the same. All things considered they are equally beautiful
Tell me you got that nice little chair from Canadian Tire. It looks more comfortable than what I am using. Nice to see you again as I think you had some weather this winter but nature is back there and there are signs here in Nova Scotia as well.

This type of area is one of my favorites to be in. Thanks for sharing your secret garden. I have a spot similar to that, here in CT. Yellow trout lily, red trillium and lots of moss and ferns. Spring Peepers and Wood frogs provide the music. There's a lovely progression of different blooms over the next several weeks even though we got hit with a little snow cover yesterday. Looking forward to your next outing!
Hi Wendy, do you walk with walking sticks ( I think I saw you with one at a distant shot) , if so which ones do you used. I’ve looked at REI but not sure what to purchase
Yes I often do- sometimes one and sometimes two. Check out the length first. I tend to go for a women's model as they are a bit shorter. I also look to see how far they collapse to so I can stow them in my pack. I like having adjustable poles for sure. You can buy ultralight ones too but they are quite pricey and I don't really need the most expensive for my smaller adventures. I usually buy in the mid range, not the cheapest and not the most high end. So far so good. my present one are women's Black Diamond. I checked out prices on line and went with the best deal. They are my second set.
Not sure where that is. This is on Vancouver Island BC Canada. It travels along the Englishman River. I am sure the trail you refer to is also amazing.

Wow- I guess it will melt when it is good and ready. Parts of our world desperately need a greater snow pack as we are experiencing drought. Some days it is a challenge to know what to hope for.

Wendy, In the UK many of us wild swim - we would be leaping in those calmer sections of river & in all seasons! Do many people do that in Canada on the rivers & lakes we see you adventuring around?
absolutely! Not sure of your definition of "wild " swimming but I bet it is similar- lol!
Currently sitting under several inches of fresh snow here in Cochrane, AB, but planning our fall vacation for the east coast of Vancouver Island thanks in large part to inspiration from your videos. Trying to do some detective work to find out where all these great hikes are.
This is Englishman River near Parksville. There are many wonderful places to hike to including Strathcona Park, the Juan de Fuca trail, plus so many others. I don't think you will be hard up to find great places depending on time and stamina. I have lots of time but getting shorter on stamina these days!!! lol.
Another beautiful and refreshing walk Wendy - thank you - and the bounty of those flowers plus the vibrancy of the new moss and ferns/new growth. Question: what all do you take in your back pack and what is the weight you would be carrying?
On a day trip such as this I take my chair, my cook kit, a snack, some water, a rain jacket , my emergency whistle, phone and a small first aid kit- I expect it all weighs in under 8 -10 lbs.

I guess they don't grow everywhere but I expect where you are there are also some amazing signs of spring too.
Another enjoyable visit to nature's wonders, but for the first time, I had to endure four ads within the first 4 minutes 15 seconds, and that was too disruptive for me. Another CZcamsr I follow, who produces meditative music, has his videos set for no ads, but CZcams recdntly inserted them, anyway. Just want you to know about this experience, in case you weren't aware.

thanks you for your lovely comments. The pants are made by a company called Fjalraven. They seem pricey to me but come with an excellent warrantee and I only need one pair. They seem very durable and are very comfortable too.

Tell me you got that nice little chair from Canadian Tire. It looks more comfortable than what I am using. Nice to see you again as I think you had some weather this winter but nature is back there and there are signs here in Nova Scotia as well.

This type of area is one of my favorites to be in. Thanks for sharing your secret garden. I have a spot similar to that, here in CT. Yellow trout lily, red trillium and lots of moss and ferns. Spring Peepers and Wood frogs provide the music. There's a lovely progression of different blooms over the next several weeks even though we got hit with a little snow cover yesterday. Looking forward to your next outing!

Hi Wendy, do you walk with walking sticks ( I think I saw you with one at a distant shot) , if so which ones do you used. I’ve looked at REI but not sure what to purchase
Yes I often do- sometimes one and sometimes two. Check out the length first. I tend to go for a women's model as they are a bit shorter. I also look to see how far they collapse to so I can stow them in my pack. I like having adjustable poles for sure. You can buy ultralight ones too but they are quite pricey and I don't really need the most expensive for my smaller adventures. I usually buy in the mid range, not the cheapest and not the most high end. So far so good. my present one are women's Black Diamond. I checked out prices on line and went with the best deal. They are my second set.

That's part of the Wonderland Trail, isn't it?
Not sure where that is. This is on Vancouver Island BC Canada. It travels along the Englishman River. I am sure the trail you refer to is also amazing.
What brand are your pants? It’s hard to find any material for use in the bush.
