Yeah that part was brutal, and one of the reasons why this game was so good.
I played this game when I was 3 and even before that 3 is just as far back as I remember I loved it

Respect for the good old COD games, they even had a mission with BRITISH B-17 bombers! Now that's one hell of a detail!
Sr. RussianDoge uuh the b17 is an American bomber
... Not even going to argue this...
lmao yeah, not worth it
Jake Sobotta it definitly is worth, cuz British got some help from Americans ( for example planes ), but they had their own ( like Spitfire )
Its not a argument its a correction
This game should be remastered!!
I agree
i agree
Doyle became the RAF's biggest ace in a single mission.
Yes, Doyle and his three tons of ammo. Extremely realistic.
I... actually don't know if there are Gunner Aces but I have seen that they did mark their kills on the outside of their gunner ports like a fighter pilot would on the side of their plane.
*_BAPTIZED IN FIRE, 40 TO 1._*
@@foreverpinkf.7603 B-17's actually carried a fair lot amount of ammo, given the amount and the length of the missions they had to go on.
Now the details that throw off this mission is that the British RAF are depicted flying the '44 "G" model... I'm not aware they ever did. Much earlier in the war, USA *did* give them B-17s to test out, but they were much earlier models. The RAF gave us back a laundry list of problems to solve- which became the basis of the "E","F" , "G" models... but by the time those versions were built, the RAF was concentrated on night bombings and had no need of it daylight bombers. So in short, yes the Brits did fly B-17s ... but as depicted here.
I think Doyle must be like "WTF it's always me!!!"
LOL.

Yeah but before the tail gunner died he was still tasked on shooting the planes behind the plane.

I miss those times when i just played call of duty and no bills to worry about
Comet Pjfa facts
The sound of the bomber engines works like a dark soundtrack for the mission
I don't care what anyone says, CO: United Offensive had the best campaign AND Multiplayer, more so than today's CoD.
Shadowz I wouldn’t say best but certainly there’s no denying it’s better than cod now
Just finished it again mate... And I agree with you...
Along with World At War, this game has my favourite CoD campaign ever
I love their thick English accent
Man in real life thats even forever dangerous than fighting on the ground
I’ve been saying this for years but someone needs to make a First Person, Multiplayer WW2 Bomber game. The enemy and other friendly planes being bots. It would be so cool to play with your friends.
The ending of this mission and the next one were really unique to me because i had never seen and never expected such scenes in a game that's old as me!
Doyle. The character as in call of duty 3 and major Ingram is also in this game
Relentless and Capten Price
the immortal captain price
Sergent Doyle 😎
OOOOOOH! Thank you. I never thought of that.
Keith has FOMO
you have to lead the target with the crosshair, keep it ahead of the plane a bit, specially if the enemy plane is far away, bullets take a bit to fly a distance, if you place the crosshair on top of the plane you wont hit it unless it is real close. In other words, fire at where he is going to be, not at where he is.
The British didn't use the later models of the B-17 as bombers. They used them as anti-sub aircraft. They used the B-17G as a radar countermeasure aircraft to accompany their Lancasters on night missions. After their fiasco with the B-17C (Fortress I) they decided against using the Fort as a bomber.
Not only that there flying this mission during daytime roughly
seeing the interior of the b17 makes me wanna cry
why
Atleast its better to be in the much avoidable plane P51 Cuz why not lets not portray horrors of war and not be in a bomber that would be easily destroyed
IkaCZVTV Matejic nostalgia
IkaCZVTV Matejic mostly because it's not as detailed as the real B-17 (Having been in multiple and Flown in one once)
I remember doing this as a kid. My copy of the game had a bug in it that a lot of the vehicles would "run out of ammo" making it that I had to conserve my shots.
This game looks amazing for its time
This is Still one of my Favorite Call of Duty games, and I Loved this mission. I was never able to get over 48 or so fighters though. Gotta break it out and Try Again! The series went Stale after MW-3 for me and I wouldn't buy them. The ones after that were like watching a play-through movie, and Repetitious! Real Guano man!
Paul Guzman own all three of the modern warfare, pretty good. World at war is good as well, love the guns
I totally agree with that comment
Yeah ikr... Played them as a kid... Now I spit on Cod
Never knew this was a COD title!!??
This is one of the first cod releases.
@@rd007 This part reminded me of the game B-17 Flying Fortress: The Mighty 8th!!
I thought it was Medal of Honor
Great! But man, remember the TWO SECOND bursts! They help a LOT!
In real life the B17 had only 1 minut fire on each gun. I think only 500 rounds or 1000(I don't remember). Anyway they were completely useless against the luftwaffe fighter. The only way of protection was the Escort fighters.
War thunder: *nods in agreement*
Tail gunners where somewhat effective, which is why its basically the only gun position left in later bomber designs. Also its not really fair to say they where ineffective because they barely shot down any fighters, if they weren't there at all the enemy fighters could just fly straight up behind and take their time to place a few well aimed shots in the engines. Same thing with the flak, not terrible effective if you look at how many bombers it shot down but if they weren't a threat at all the bombers could have reduced their speed and dropped their bomb from lower altitude and more accuracy.
The technique here is target a bit ahead of the possible direction of the enemy fighters. That way the bullets hit them when the enemy planes reach that point.
RZPogi no the techniques to shoot at them doesn’t matter if they hit just shoot
Daniel Hillerby That is a bad idea. In a real life. But this is a game so it doesn't absolutely matter

this level is much better than the dogfight in CODWW2. even a level like this in the PSP game COD roads to victory cud do this level also , and the godamn CODWW2 dogfight wasnt even that eye catching or emotional hitting u hard to realise how hard it was to be in the air. sorry to say but these levels brought the fear of getting shot down in big planes by the bf 109's , and then CODWW2 brings ur P51 to be the most avoided plane (even though i know the bombers were the main targets of the opposing forces to take them down) but they 89 % of the time avoid u. sorry, but its true. this level potrayed the war efforts better.
Kinda ironic that they get shot by flak before they hit holland dont you think? Did england get invaded by Germany or did england for some weird reason have flak guns and using them to shoot their allied planes down?
Cas Wesstein not sure buddy , but u might have a point there .
Shimon Victoria if memory serves it's a P-47 thunderbolt in CODWW2. But I agree no emotion or thought put into it the controls were terrible also. It's a shame game developers are only interested in $$ anymore, game design used to be an art.
chimera soldier I'm happy u agree with my point. Cuz not only it didn't feel like a mode that's good for a COD game (fighter planes ) but again , nothing like despair or frustration of anyone shooting the planes or you. Felt way too bland. So ya......the developers are so balls deep with their money , idk wat now to expect from them of another WW2 game (if god forbid they do it again .)

Poor Doyle doing all the work.
The good old days of cod.
Those Browning 50 Cals are amazing keep on shooting and shooting and shooting and never overheat. Just kidding, I think I heard in an interview they could only Blast for about three or four seconds anything beyond that and the barrels would overheat to the point where they were useless. Looks like a fun game to play

Ok is nobody gonna talk abt the fact that doyle had to do everything while there still was the other waist gunner the navigator the bomb aiming dude
That's Not call Of Duty That's medal Of Honor

Groans: 91st BG tail markings on RAF Coastal Command B-17s, in formation and using words like "A for Andy", well over 6000 rnds of ammo in that ball turret plus dorsal turret personally responsible for 11 kills. Good game though.
Who else is here feeling that this was way better than the B-17 mission in “MOH: Above and Beyond”?
I wonder how gory it is if they put gore in this like waw
One of the best campaign
Who ever tried to shoot at one of the other B17's? At least it is something you can hit.
If it's 1941 was B-17E even in wide use yet? Also, why are the 109s so slow?

Well I mean can you blame them?
1:35 would give you horrible PTSD irl
The Lancaster is cooler than the B17 but the B24 trumps all other WW2 bombers.
so did Uncle Sam lend his B-17s to the Brits? i did not even know that the Brits were using B-17s during ww2 i thought they were only using the Lancasters Bombers. did the Brits lost more Lancasters faster then they were being made so they imported B-17s from the US. is that it?
Yes, the United States supplied the brits with a couple hundred however the brits didn’t like the day bomber as much as their nighttime bombers, look it up
