hi steven, i had huge problem in making this el nino stuff through my head,, but as i been through your explanation i can say that u washed away all my doubts regarding elnino,, thank you so much for such a simplified explanation,,
Very nicely and clarely explained. But I am still in doubt. What is cause and what is effect. Is the air circulation driven by the ocean current or the ocean current driven by the wind?
@@nickbellamy2859 The easterly trade winds are driven by a surface pressure pattern of higher pressure in the eastern Pacific and lower pressure in the west. When this pressure gradient weakens, so do the trade winds. The weakened trade winds allow warmer water from the western Pacific to surge eastward, so the sea level flattens out.

The best explanation with helpful animation.. very helpful.. keep up the good work..
Your videos are really helping, great job 😭👍
What is the reason for the trade winds to weaken initially?
Excellent explanation! Thanks. But going back to the start, what causes the low pressure and the high pressure which kicks all this off?
Thank you so much for this explanation. I am enlightened to be able to use this as a point of reference
