Special Hobby is a great model company. The quality and level of detail in their kits seems to continually improve, and their subject matter is not always mainstream.

The Hawk Comet kit was reissued a few years ago and still can be found on line. I have it built, and it's a beauty!

Special Hobby is the former short run company, MPM. I have kits from both. Current SH kits have terrific detail but are generally cheaper than comparable Eduard models. I have their P-40K short tail, Mirage IIICJ and Super Mystere SMB-2 Sa'ar in the stash. Really nice models. The jets have a good selection of "things under the wings." They do a lot of the X-planes as well.

If my memory is correct the 1/50 scale had to do with being metric.
The Heller 1/50 heli kits are quite nice, Look for the Heller Lama Heli

That B-70 kit should never be used!!!! There is an XB-70 kit that you can still find, if you want to build it.
