@@ThriftSchool nice! I knew that thing had plenty of life left!
Wow both my favorite youtuber in one comment. Big fan here in the Philippines
I've been collecting, rebuilding and restoring these for years and I have to tell you that you got a HULLUVA score here. Nice work!!!!
I have shipped a lot of lanterns. Yeah, taking them apart is the best way, especially pulling out the glass. I usually put it in its own box, a box inside a box and wrap with bubble wrap.
I wouldnt use post it notes for numbers on them since they fall off so easily.some hang tag notes or wrap the notes around the handles so they stick to them selves for better stickiness. Great buy !
Your neighbor literally handed you 10-20k that is insane, congrats on being in the right place at the right time!
My grandpa ( from my father's side) used to have a used car sell business with his brother after ww2. I remember he used to mention that you always need yo have money for opportunities. I said it's not for emergency or anything else, just opportunities because when they come, if you don't have the money, you lose. And after you buy and sell whatever you purchased put the money back for the next one
If Roberto Clemente signed that book - it's big money. He passed away late in 1972 and that book appears to be from earlier in the year.
Keeping the tradition! Passing along vintage equipment is always a good deal beyond the monetary value imo
Totally agree. I knew nothing about these before I got all of them. I learned so much and still have a bunch to list. Its been fun.
So cool! Nice to go outside of the box once in while and purchase something completely different, like Coleman lanterns. You took a little bit of a chance and it looks like it's going to pay off big time. Well done! Best wishes! -Steven
Oh wow! Nice, amazing purchase!
Wow, what a great score! The best part is seeing how excited you are even after all these years of reselling. 😀
Thank you! I get excited easily
Looks a great buy to me!
When I ship super fragile glass or porcelain, I use bathroom tissue first, alot of it. Then I'll go with bubble wrap. I've sent large Lladro figures that way, and never had damage. Put the paper inside the glass, til there's no more room, then do the outside, with the tissue, and bubble wrap.
Wow! What a score!
Awesome!!! Great finds
Thanks :)
Wow! Congrats!
Wow nice job !
Very good deal actually. Congratulations
The date code 5/12 represents Dec 1935. Very rare lantern and highly sought after. As someone else mentioned if that is a 1972 Roberto Clemente autograph it'll be worth more than the lantern. You might have found 2 big scores.
Thank you for thr tip on the date. And I believe there is a Clemente auto on the mag. Im going to a Convention on Friday to have it checked out
Love the colored ones!
so cool looking
Crazy man, Great score!
JC Higgins was sold by Sears. They a wide variety of sporting goods 1908-1960
And then a stint with Ted Williams.
I absolutely love coleman lanterns!
they are cool as heck
As a collector I think you did well.
Nice pick up!!!!
Score dude! Well done, young blood. Just be careful about putting them up all at once. Don't want to flood the market.
A really cool buy... Make a list over all of them like what they sell for and see how much you end up with.... Perhaps leaving some long tail items out... Dunno... Just a thought... :) Thanks for another great video.. Nitehawk signing out
I've sold several...worth great money. Man, pack them well!! That thin glass breaks easy
Sell a few locally to help offset shipping if need be. That 1000 dollar one whoa!
Thats insane!!! Congrats. I'd be scared to ship these.
Good score!
Score of the century - !
Lots of bubble wrap in a double box for the globes and or coffee can then a box .
Great score! Sell the newer ones local, if they are $40 or less.
Hey man I love you videos I'm a longtime viewer. I'm looking for a replacement glass globe for my Coleman model 274 Brown colored lantern. I need a new glass globe for it. Do you happen to have one you could part with for cheap?
Congratulations
That’s a lot of lanterns!! Awesome man, $1,000 lantern holy crap that’s awesome dude!! Going to make some good money!! Just need to buy some nice boxes to ship them in. Love selling car books. Slow sellers but alway sell
I think those chrome ones are also worth decent money. I found a few of them and looked them up. I think they where collector editions or something. well the ones i found where anyway
As a fisherman I can tell you, those glass globes are very easy broken. I've use colemans for many years. Cant beat them.
Would it work To wrap The glass in bubblewrap, but it in a box and put that box together in another box with The lamp?
Great pickup! Honestly you’re dealing with “American pickers” merchandise there, American vintage. I’ve been a subscriber for years and I’m surprised you don’t find more of this stuff living in your area.
How much do you want for the sears single mantle black
and blue?
Hope you know how to pack them so the globes dont get broken.
I would have bought them all day long! Gotta pounce when opportunities present!
Still selling them every week!
Aren't the globes radioactive? I wonder what a Geiger counter would do in that room?
Best packed/shipped lantern I got: They took the top and globe off, wrapped both in bubble wrap. Then wrapped the rest in paper & bubble wrap. As for the little nut on top, it was secured in a sandwich baggie and taped to the invoice. Lantern arrived a week later unscathed. BTW whats yr ebay handle?
Its linked in my description under the video. Its Jdu.jes
I now ship them even more securely. I box up the globe in a smaller box and then put it with the rest of the lantern in a bigger box
Pss, king Coleman has videos, on y.t., for the chromies', several other reputable Coleman fanatics on here too, you can do it, cause now is the time, ...one guy did what you've done and became a Coleman authorized repairman and reseller...(old Coleman parts has the parts you'll need) ...I've worked on em for a while too, but those guys are pros.....(hope you geek out on em like we all do!)..(the chromes, and single mantle lanterns are expensive)...all fun!
Hey man! I just came here to say that I had an international sale for a vintage Coleman and eBay messaged me to say it was unable to ship through the international shipping program. Just a heads up. The country would not allow it to be imported most likely due to the propane tank. He was refunded and I was able to keep the cost of the sale. Maybe it’s just me, but I didn’t know. Every day is a school day! Thanks, ThriftSchool!
I wouldn't mind buying 2 or 3 of the cheaper ones from you to use for fishing.
Awesome buy, I've been looking for a coleman military lantern like the one you've got for a while. Can't seem to get a good deal though haha
So expensive. I have so many more to list. But no more military ones I think
Wow!
Nice
Amazing that you got $999 for a lantern!
Ok, get the Coleman book
....it's 50 bucks!...(j.c. Higgins is well known)
I would pay a couple of high school students to go through each one on the price and to leave the paper work from where the information comes from, so you do other things.
999.99 wow congrats
I’m so jealous 😌
WOW WOW WOW ...holy smokes
solid score
Did he say why he had 125 lanterns? Seems like an odd thing to collect. Congrats, probably the best haul you've ever had on your channel.
He just liked collecting them. No clue why, I guess we all have our vices lol
There is a huge community of people who collect coleman lanterns, 125 lanterns is considered an average amount among the die hard collectors, there are auctions and trading conventions of coleman lanterns and other coleman products that are held throughout the country, it’s usually focused on the old classic antique models, and as you can see, people are willing to pay a pretty penny for some hard to find models.
Sell the generic cheaper ones locally or in bulk.
good idea. possibly for double what I paid locally
Post Office told me to stuff glass with newspaper
The baseball player is our beloved Roberto Clemente. He died on plane accident trying to help Nicaragua people.
👍
Any lanterns dated December 1970?
that count was annoying filler
Do u want to buy a 1973 Coleman. It would complete your collection..
My Pops Collects Colmans
The 235 is from the 1945 and the 12th Month.
🐨
I don't understand how you got $999 for a lantern I see on Ebay for $30-$50- and there are tons of them-same model number and age range. So confused, unless you're not being honest. I have a 1952 Model#220E that is in perfect working order and I know these are collectibles, so if I sell it, I want to get a fair price, but I see so many working, vintage Coleman lanterns on Ebay for sale more in the $50 range, and some are in original boxes, with tools etc., and still selling under $100.
hey hey hey
hey yo
All those lanterns and the video is dark. Lol
You are like me ❤❤❤
From my cold dead hands, in my grave would you get my Coleman's!...lol
No testing????
Just selling them all as-is, untested.
@@ThriftSchool do you list them as used or parts/not working?
sell the cream ...make some money ...then sell em ff as a lot for 20 each ......be done i wldnt clean all of em either .......man what a score
Im pumped to get to listing
P.s., for the love of god, don't just turn and burn em on ebay, (take the chromies', make a line)..take the 200's, Make a line of them, ...next, line up the 220's, in front of yr garage....LIGHT EM ALL b-4 dark, and film it...(I know it's been done)...be the next!...(if you succeed, you'll have learned a thing!)
Welp I wont be selling lanterns for awhile
Why is that
Im now gonna lie if u want to kid nap a grown man just say "i got a whole bunch of cool old stuff in yhe basement thay im trying to get rid off"
Educate yourself on these amazing lanterns.
dude f that, i wouldnt have paid up for some stuff someone wants to get you to move out so they can move.....if you said 500 what was he gonna do.....take it all with him?
Yes. Yes he would have
This is why after 10 years I got out of reselling. I'm looking at 11-14 grand in what I'm seeing in lanterns. How does this new age reseller sleep at night knowing not only how hard he screwed the guy he bought them from but than turns around and gives no discount to the guys that Have a passion for lanterns and dedicate their entire lives to them. I've told more people than I can count they needed to be asking more money for the stuff I've bought from them. I've also priced stuff way cheaper than I should have when I've gotten a good deal to help out less Is financially stable collectors. All I see from watching this is you have no problems screwing both the people you buy from but the people you sell to as well.
Maybe the guy wanted to get out of collecting, or maybe he lost interest and just wanted them gone because he was moving, there’s really no way to know why he sold all those lanterns for $1200, but for you to imply the guy got screwed, you’re just assuming the guy had no clue what his lanterns are worth, or that he was forced to sell his collection for just $1200, either way, it’s just plain dumb to think he got screwed, and even more dumb to think new buyers of these lanterns are also getting screwed, it’s free will, no one is forced to do anything, if a person sells something way under price or someone pays way over price, that’s on them, it’s their choice, but I have to say that your whole comment shows that you seem to be bitter that someone scored a great haul.
It doesn't say how he came up with the price he paid. If the neighbor asked $1200 then that is a fair price. If the neighbor cared to make more he could have sold them all individually. He is not screwing anyone on eBay. It's an auction site that lets people pay what they want by bidding for it. If someone thought the price is too high they can stop bidding.
You have recuperated your original purchase price with the selling of the two Coleman Lanterns. 👏🏻💲👏🏻💲👏🏻💲👏🏻💲👏🏻💲👏🏻💲👏🏻
pretty nuts :)
Whats your ebay username? to check out what your selling
Nice
