Bro you're so f*cking right. I was used to say "i'm gonna be a Mangaka" when i was a kid, but i've never did anything to achieve that, until i started drawing at 12yo. Now i'm about to get 18yo and i'm drawing the first chapter of my manga, i'm gonna post it in manga plus creators and then sell it in my country (Argentina)
I still thinking i'm a nobody, but at least i'm doing something to achieve my goal.

I think one of the best thing is as you said is to set small goals leading to the big goal
Some pll sometimes dream of stuff waaay far from them and then when they don't get easily they just give up
I'm not saying don't dream big but also know what you'r capable of and set goals based on that
what's crazy about this is the fact that I learned about goal setting and how to set long term goals through short term goals in my sports health/psychology class rather than my visual arts class in High School

It can be easier to not interact with media and focus but yet doing stuff outside is more difficult if everyone knows your an artist hidden or not… introvert and extrovert can be a struggle for we all must be doing both.

Congratulations DD Markk 🥳🥳. Read and re-read whatever deal you're being offered. Some of the greatest comic book artists got stiffed by their publishers, Jack "King of Comics" Kirby and Carl "The Good Duck Artist" Barks come to mind. Then there were those who kept primary control over their IPs such as Bill Watterson, the author of Calvin and Hobbes. DON'T FORGET, they saw something in YOU.
Planning very specific deadlines never works for me, it just makes me more anxious and more willing to slack, drag things out. I definitely feel better when I draw something without thinking that it has to be on certain quality, for certain purpose, done in certain amount of time. It's so easy to upset people, anyway. Maybe I'm just not fitting to this but I'll keep doing it in my own slow, comfortable way bc in this way things at least get done. Not completely sure yet but my thing will appear in Manga Plus Creators too... someday, lol.

As always, great video DD. I've always found the strategy of having mini goals during a journey to be super motivating. My main goal is to make webtoon; I've set so many small achievements, and the few I've reached in the past couple of months makes me feel unstoppable.

i usually dont set goals but i sometimes just subconciously always try to be 75% as good as the best in the world for whatever i do and it usually worked so im kind of a jack of alot of trades but for art it wasnt working for me so i wanna try this different mindset method thank u m8

This video plus your Chainsaw Man video are about to be the kick in the ass I needed. I just published my first book and I wanna build it up to an RPG, but that's a long road over the course of a year. So I want to build my audience with a book and a visual comic to accompany it, and then spread the ability of my story to be consumed across media. I set a firm goal and am currently adhering to it, so to have this video be simultaneously a wake up call but an assurance that I'm on the right path too is very, very helpful for me. I really appreciate your videos DDM - consider me a new subscriber!

The best way to pulish my Manga
Man, a lot of your content has clicked for me. My overall goal with art is to make money off of it while having fun, but the only way I can do that is if I'm really good at drawing anatomy... so now I'm focusing on anatomy, with a little bit of anime sprinkled in between.

Goals can be discouraging too, though. I am 31 now (yes, fucking old lol) and startred taking art seriously with 26. I deliberetaly drew almost everyday since then for 4-5 hours. I thought I could be a pro in 3, at LEAST after 5 years. Yeah, I still suck. I have given up at this point to decide for any goals outside of "I'd like to improve at x this month" because not achieving them before really kicked my psyche. :/ I don't disagree on setting goals at all, just that you have to be aware of what you expect. If you are as bad/untalented as I am, yeah...
