7:48 in this part gaga sings "j’veux pas mourir toute seule" which is french for "i don't want to die alone" gaga's songwriting is so fascinating to me. she views mary magdalene as both fully divine and fully human. a woman that shows real emotions no matter how she's portrayed.
in the bible, after jesus christ is toppled from his 'throne', mary magdalene suffers for jesus christ. essentially dying all alone.
in the end she sings "libérate, mi amor" which is spanish for "free yourself, my love".

Thanks for sharing! We like to find goofy interpretations, but honestly it was hard doing it on such a good song! Only one of us had heard this one, and weren't really Familiar with Gagas. Never expected such a deep song! Especially with how little is being said. That was the amazing part. How she can make a "simple" POP song with short catchy lyrics, that actually have a whole beautiful complex story! Great song!
Thanks for watching and commenting! Catch you next time! 🤞

The song is actually sung from the perspective of Mary Magdalene, so it’s talking more about Mary celebrating his life even after his death. Also, fun random fact, Lady Gaga has a blood red Rolls Royce which she refers to as “Bloody Mary”

4:00 he is referring to one where lady gaga performs to a song called swine, and many people still get confused because they don’t expect a metal/rock n roll attitude from a female pop star. Lady gaga uses grotesqueness to make a point in her art all the time, see the meat dress. The song swine is about a man who she describes as disgusting, a pig in a human body, and it’s her way to cope with an event that forever impacted her. When she was 19, she was raped by a producer who threatened to destroy her music (paparazzi, just dance etc), which resulted in an unwanted pregnancy and abortion. This was so traumatic that she developed ptsd, and it really peaked after her rise to stardom. So when she had another artist throw up on her during this song on stage, she is making us feel violated and repulsed by the event too but with pretty psychedelic colors. She did say she was in a dark place during this era, but she still sings about this trauma till this day. You guys should react to marry the night music video. Bad romance music video is also about this too. It’s everywhere.

It's written as "Bloody Mary" but it's meant to be heard in the verse as "bloody merry" as in "god damn happy" so it's kind of "when you're gone I'll still be god damn happy"... This song is a metaphor and speaks about the hurting aspect of a doomed love in religious terms to emphasize the sentiment of worship a woman would manifest towards her lover, it does not refer to religion itself. It's literature 101.

Guys, Mary is Mary Magdalene, Jesus’s companion who traveled with him and also saw him being crucified. I guess the song talks about her love for Jesus, and the fact that she is ready to face stoning same as Jesus was ready to face crucifixion for the people. And despite all this the learning still stands, and then even if Jesus is killed, Mary is not as fazed since she’ll still be bloody (could be the British version of swearing or general statement of being bloodstained by people’s stone throwing) Mary… which could mean she would continue to uphold Jesus’s values.
This is Lady Gaga singing as Mary Magdalene.
And no, it was not in Wednesday. It was a fan video overlay on the Wednesday dance and just happened to match perfectly.

"Bloody Mary" was the nickname of queen Mary I of England (daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon). She is known for burning hundreds of people at stake for being Protestant- as Mary was catholic. She hated her father for snubbing her mother and for not allowing them to see each other, you guys have good views on this song- buy you're all wayyyy off hahaha

Aside from the lesbian sexual innuendo, you guys were not so far off actually (funnily enough she has another song describing exactly this called Poker Face, she is not lesbian, but she is in fact bisexual) this song is as described by Gaga, a rite of passage, i think is about her detachment to a prominent male figure she deeply loved and lived by, and she trying to come into her own divine feminine, forgiving, and freeing herself even tho she knows she'll still bleed, she utilizes the historical figure of Mary Magdalene (hence the name) and her relationship with Jesus to portray this, in non canonical texts banned by the church in the early centuries she is not only portrayed as one of the most important disciples but also as a divine sent figure equal to Jesus, but as she mentions in the second verse, her story was rewritten and portrayed in history by prominent church commissioned artists such as Michael Angelo to be perceived the way they wanted it.

Thanks for using our right pronouns! This was our first time listening to the song so we had no idea where the best parts were! Also is there really a best part?? Or is all of it that good? 🤔 because the comments are filled with more, and more tidbits, and info on interpretations!
Not knowing her catalog or listening to her previously is actually a handful to try to interpret for the first time lol .
Maybe see it from the perspective as the first time you listened to her, and you realized how good she was, and she blew your mind, and you fell in love w her as an artist. Before you had expectations. We have only listened to 1 other gaga song and she's incredible.
Not that the comment is upsetting or anything. Just wanted you to remind yourself of that time when you first heard her! Or maybe this song! That moment you can go back in time and thought," man she is such a great artist" This is what this moment ended up being for us ❤
