I have tried to read The Silmarillion more times than I can count. Your explanation of what is occurring in the book is fantastic. You make it understandable. Oftentimes, experts in topics are incapable of teaching amateurs, not you. I love your video and am working my way through your epic poem. Thanks!
Thanks so much! I’ll try to continue the series hopefully soon. And that’s for your words on my epic poem! 😁
Happy Tolkien Reading Day!
Loved the video James! Please keep them coming. Was starting to get ‘Winds of Winter’ vibes there lol
😍✅
Thanks once again for a reading episode of the Silmarillion. I get so much out of these and am thinking I need to go back to the beginning and take notes from all of the episodes. I also like hearing the names and places pronounced, sometimes confirming my own thoughts and sometimes informing me.
Hi James. I’m sure you saw this but Harper Collins just released a revised Maps of Middle Earth in a format and size to match the current books. It’s a great addition to the collection and it would be interesting to see a comparison to the original book, if you were looking for a video idea.
Thanks and keep the videos coming!!!!
Thanks for that! Will sure check it out 🙂
Hi! I found this book called "Middle-Earth: Journeys in Myth and Legend" which is an artbook filled with illustrations of Middle-Earth and I wonder if you have reviewed it, I do not seem to find it in your channel. The book is outstanding in its art, done by Donato Giancola
Are you gonna review the collected poems when that box set is released?
Yes hopefully!
James - I am just starting off reading the Tolkien books since taking a seminar in college 20yr ago and plan on going deep into the analysis of each work. I am starting with the Hobbit and wanted to get your thoughts regarding the use of The History of the Hobbit book as a companion to The Hobbit?
Ps. Once I have gone through The Hobbit and LOR, I will def being using your excellent videos as a companion to the Silmarillion in the months to come. Thanks!
I saw a video about the best deluxe versions of Lord of the Rings. You missed in my opinion the best deluxe version of the Lord of the Rings. That is the 1969 India Paper Deluxe edition. It is expensive, and I have the good fortune to own a fine copy of it.
That’s wonderful! Sadly I couldn’t compare much (limited by what I own😅)
