Over the past 6 years, I have lost all 4 of my grandparents, and all of them were good people and I miss all of them. About 5 years ago, my Uncle who was also my godfather committed suicide, and that was very rough on everybody, he was always good to me and he was a really great guy, liked to tell me funny jokes. And last August,a week from my birthday, a good friend to my mom who was my godmother, she passed away. I didn't even want to do anything to celebrate my birthday, I felt so sad. It's my tribute to a hometown fellow fisherman who drowned while saving his 5 year old son who fell into the river. He didn't think twice despite not knowing how to swim. It was his favorite song. I would be absolutely distraught losing my siblings and other family members. He wrote, "Drink A Beer," which I really think is Luke's greatest song as a result of his losses. If he wrote more songs like that (as the Outlaws of yesterday also wrote about their suffering and their problems), Luke would be a better artist. But either way, the guy absolutely deserves better. Most of the singers have been through a lot of heartbreaks and other emotional stuff. This is why I love these singers, it’s cause they knows how it feels to go through pain and suffering but still keep on going with life.

I had no clue who he is as we don't get American Idol in the UK but I've just been watching a couple of the latest auditions of AI and he seemed like a decent 'dude' as a judge. So, WOW, what one individual has endured with so much tragedy, and to still be able to get out of bed each day ...... huge respect to him.
