- After a short & disappointing stay at the MyPlace Indy Airport Hotel, it was back down to the Sunshine State aboard Spirit Airlines...but this time...I cheated. For an additional $28, I purchased an exit row seat on the 2+ hr flight from Indianapolis to Fort Lauderdale on a pretty full flight which ensured I had plenty of space and a very pleasant experience on the flying school bus (Skittles version). Don't know when I'll get to fly Spirit again but definitely need to try their Big Front Seat sometime before it's gone forever. Hope y'all enjoy!

You’re one of the few vloggers that doesn’t trash Spirit and, in fact, actually respects and recommends them. I respect you not going by people’s popular opinion and finding things that you like without outside influence 👍🏾
From what ive seen from vloggers Frontier is worse than Spirit
I've flown Spirit a lot-they have served me well. They are more transparent with their product then other airlines.
As an airline employee having worked for 4 major international airlines I always tell people to understand airlines are like restaurants - each one serves something different and has a different clientele.
NK can be a great option for the right passenger. If money is more important than time/schedule, if you can travel simple/light, if you do not need a first class cabin etc, depending on what you feel like NK can be a great option. I have family that would rather have a confirmed ticket on NK than to standby on a major US airline and I can’t blame them. Be it college students, snow birds/retirees, ethnic/VFR travel, NK has found a market.
Let’s not forget NK now serves more non-stop cities in countries like Colombia than any other airline - they know how to find markets and serve them.

I was so sure Chris was going to ride the Big Front Row after seeing the title, but I was wrong. Those exit row seats are close enough, though. I am glad he was able to get one of those seats.
Spirit is fine as long as you read their rules. Most of the issues people have with spirit is because they don't read.
You are making the assumption that the same people having issues with NK because they do not read also know how to read. When I see these people having issues with their experience with NK I cannot help but think that NK is not the only place they have issues in life, these are people who tend to have issues and confrontations at Starbucks
I was waiting for the "cheating" hack or confession. Lol .... Anyhoo, you ever need a free upgrade to the BFS, if it's available, you could bring treats for the fight crew, say hello, be kind but not demanding and ask if you could sit in a BFS & I'm sure you'll get it. Being kind to the crew and making conversation is key. The treats help tremendously. 😄Most ppl don't even acknowledge us until they want something. We're very nice (most of us😉)👍
I really like Spirit. Taken them many times Kansas City to Las Vegas. Always had on timer or early flights, comfy big front seats, clean plane and friendly crew. I hope JetBlue doesn’t get approval to absorb them.
I've flown the Big Front Seat before, and if you time it right it sometimes can be cheaper than economy on the major carriers (including bags). I like what you said though, ULCCs like Spirit are fine, just take an extra 5 minutes and know what you're paying extra for and if it's actually cheaper/worth it. Sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't.
Glad you scored an exit! I always thought they've painted over all of the remaining Skittles planes already but I guess not. BTW I requested an exit row upgrade and it was given to me free on my Spirit flight LAX-ORD back in 2003. But this was 2003 so it was more like a "reassignment."

NK FA here... Having second thoughts about your randomly selected seat because you didn't want to pay for your guaranteed seating arrangement...
Depending on what's left open you can always ask the FA to upgrade onboard to an Exit Row ($15-50) or Big Front Seat ($25-75). Price ranges depending on length of flight. We charge your card similar to when you buy a drink onboard. Ask during boarding that you're willing to pay and we will keep an eye out for you.

I read the rules. I paid for the upgrades I wanted. I maintain that the experience is trash due to the boarding process alone. The big front seat assignees turn into wild animals and it’s every man for themselves in the boarding line.
Money is important I’m never going to act like it isn’t but if you can afford a smoother experience and skip the hunger games - that’s okay too.
I work at NK and I started to fall in love with the "Google" livery.

My wife and son nabbed a spirt flight form IND to MCO for $38 per ticket then upgraded to the big comfy seats for $45 per person. She said it was a better seat then some mainline carriers.
The exit row seats on new planes have tray tables on side and the arm rests don't go up... learned the hard way on a recent trip
I’ve noticed that the seat bottoms are also a lot shorter, which isn’t very comfortable.
Depends on the aircraft-A321’s have immovable armrests. Not the 320s.
I have flown the Houston hobby airport to Indianapolis intl airport route several times to see each side of my family. IND is a wonderful airport and I agree that it is one of the best out there. Love your vids. Hope you fly to IND again.

That’s a great video! We are flying to Fort Lauderdale in November. I think we may fly Allegiant, Frontier or Spirit. But if we take Spirit we will have to drive to Louisville since CVG doesn’t serve Spirit. Or yet, Delta. Hope you had an amazing trip and good to know that cheat! Enjoyed that video!

I took a flight with Spirit Airlines from New York City to Texas. After I came back to New York I needed a chiropractor for 2 weeks
I love the hand sanitizer!!! I always feel like I am neurotic for carrying it everywhere and using it constantly:) Happy Landings! PS- IND airport is really nice, in the middle of nowhere but very modern, attractive, and easy to navigate.
Quick tip, don't fall for the bundle BS, it is a bit more expensive than adding/buying your checked bags and selecting your seats individually for each flight ;)

Ya just depends on how busy I am. Problem is I just flew way too much in 2020 - which is the reason for my huge backlog and it's a neverending catch-up game...

On July 24th, 2021 I was supposed to be flying from Savannah to Omaha that day but my flight from Chicago Midway to Omaha got cancelled due to weather and staffing shortages forcing me to spend an extra night in Savannah and fly the next day. Also be sure to pack an extra days worth of supplies in case you get stranded somewhere.

Crazy spending only a few hours in you hotel also you should've spent the night at the airport like what FlyingWithFran does basically they will ask for your boarding pass or trip itenary and you can sleep there. Those airports too like Denver have areas for people with overnight layovers

You won't see any Jetblue conversions for probably TWO YEARS. Commercial closing, presuming it happens, isn't even until H1 2024. Find a Spirit NEO flight when you can! Those are the QUIETEST planes you will fly on. Even at takeoff thrust, the Pratts are QUIET. CFM NEOs used on other airlines sound like chainsaws at takeoff, but the Spirit planes are amazing. In cruise it feels like you are hardly moving. Spirit aircraft substitutions are RARE. Sorry you missed out.

Flying frontier and have 100k status giving me free carry on, checked bag, assigned seat and even counter assistance
I’d rather just fly Qatar airways, it’s cheaper(for me) and so much better of a product! The reason why it’s cheaper for me is because my girlfriend is a flight attendant for them and I get to fly I D 90 which means I get 90% off my ticket price! So for example me flying from JFK to Doha Doha to Seychelles Seychelles to Doha Doha to Zürich Zürich to Doha Doha to JFK cost me about $900 in total😁
I can’t get over the fact they are the cheapest airline around. They certainly do only the most minimum amount of maintenance with the lowest paid employees. Why put you life in the hands of an airline that pays their employees almost nothing.
