Great review! How did you get the wind data on your watch face. I can’t seem to find it anywhere.
The watch face ships with the Quatix. I'm not sure what its called. It needs to be connected to your watch for the data.
Hi many thanks for your review, one question I still have is after using the sail race app In the results on the map my track is just displayed in red. I have seen in other apps your speed can be seen through colour changes… do you know if this is possible?
Hmmmm not sure about that one. Sorry
Great video, thank you! I see the Garmin web page and there are 3 different quatix, standard, amoled and solar. The one you have looks like is the amoled? I have an Apple Watch Ultra and a Quatix 5 and I am thinking on upgrading to a Quatix 7 because the 5 doesn’t have touchscreen and some times it is complicated to use it with the buttons, compared with the Apple Ultra. There is big differences between the standard version and the amoled or solar to pay the price? Thank you!!!
Hi, I would definitely go with the amoled (sapphire) version over standard. I'm super impressed with the display, very bright. Not so sure about the extra price to go solar. Unless you want that bigger watch look. The battery is really good and I'm not sure you get that much more with solar. There is a new Saphire pro with a flashlight as well. So many choices.
@@TheRudder thank you so much for the advice!
Thank you so much, Damian! Great review, and good quality recording / lighting. My question is whether this is the Quatrix 7 Standard? That is the unit I'm considering for regatta sailing. It is also the cheaper one in the series that applies to my intended use. You mentioning that "it is blowing a bit" shows a difference of opinion on that windy bit ;o) I would want it to really blow! If the wind is up, us multihull sailors are out on the water. Often out of sight. Cheers! Marc
Hi Marc, this is the Quatix 7 Sapphire. Which I think is now called Pro. I would ensure that the unit you are looking at has AMOLED display. It really makes a difference, especially in low light and night conditions. As a stink boat we are always looking to hide from the wind, exact opposite to sail🤣🤣. I'm not really familiar with performance race sailing but there are a few activities on the watch dedicated for racing. Hope that helps.
@@TheRudder Thank you ever so much. Useful information. I'll ensure the unit I select will have the AMOLED display. Your video and response have certainly helped!
The middle range is the size 47mm(for my wrist) Amoled Saphire, less expensive but in other hand less battery!Do you confirm? Many Thanks
Yep mine is 47mm the 51mm is the solar edition
Hi, the watch face is very nice and useful info, what is name of the watch face. Thanks
It is a watch face inbuilt into the hardware. No need to download. I have no idea of the name.
What are the scaling / boating features that can be used if I don’t have any Garmin equipment on the boat
Anything trackable by GPS, speed over ground, bearing, race timer etc. plus youve got the other activities. BUT there are other Garmin brand that will offer the same.
Is there Garmin Qutix 8 and does it have- Man overboard, sup, swimming, conection to the plotter of yacht ?
There is no Quatix 8 - the 7 has SUP, swimming (indoor and outdoor) and connection to plotter. There might be an app you can download for man overboard, not sure on that one.
To play Spotify, do you need to have your cell phone nearby? Does it have phone on it, like the apple watch?
You can not stream Spotify without your phone, however you can download playlists to you watch and play without your phone. This means you can go for a run, play your Spotify playlist to your Bluetooth headphones, without your watch. Garmin watches don't have a SIM card (like apple), but the battery lasts for weeks, rather than day/s.
When it is expected to go on sale finix 8 pro ?
Not sure.
Can you access your calendar on the watch?
Yes, but it needs to be within Bluetooth of your phone anyway
I see reviews stating when outside, the screen is really hard to see..is this true?
Not for me it is very bright. Hopefully you can see that in the video. Even underwater it is visible.
That's what I wanted to hear! Ordering one today.
That's what I wanted to hear!
I’m concerned with the bezel being scratched. I couldn’t tell the condition of yours in the video?
I just posted a picture on the community board - czcams.com/users/postUgkxn6xCBTlveKIoJhNknN2H4Wt_FAX8yEN9 It is in great condition
This a sapphire version?
Yes this is the sapphire version
Can you access your samsung calendar on the watch?
