Understand they are not learning how to wash at a young age but not teaching them to pull the underwear out and put the clothes on the right side is just a small chore . Instead of the ladies going through the socks and matching that’s should be a small task for them that only takes a few minutes with 12 hands to do. The ladies are so sweet for doing this .

It appears the mother doesn't do any of the laundry either. She leaves it for these ladies. Letting the girls leave their clothes and toys and other things all over the yard is crazy.... not ok. They don't seem to be teaching them anything. And, if the girls at 8 or 9 years old, they should have their own drawers and own clothes.... wearing each others is weird.... I can't imagine ever doing that, sharing all the clothes. Strange set up indeed.

It’s time the girls learned to take care and appreciate all they have. They can pick up all their clothes and put them in the clothes shoot and then they could put them up once folded. Having someone do all this for them teaches them it’s ok to have someone to do things for them. The sooner they start learning these life skills the easier it will be once them are on their own. Children as young as three can help and by the quints age, they will be cable to do quite a lot. It’s never too late to start teaching them.

I very much agree! I was teaching my boy's as soon as they started walking. First I taught them where to dispose of their dirty diaper and then came their dirty laundry. They would even carry their clean clothes to their bedrooms but I would put it away but they loved to learn how to help out and they really loved the reward as we had more time to spend together ❤ 😊

Trust me I’ll be teaching mine when I have them (probably will have one in the next couple of years). But here’s the thing, I’m Asian and grew up in Asia in a household with domestic help and a nanny. I’ve helped with laundry sometimes after I was abt 12. And that too just picked them from the line outside and folded and put away. I had never ever run a wash in my life till I was 25. Basically I did zero housework till I got married and migrated to Aus. I appreciate what I have and I didn’t really struggle that much to learn to do it on my own when the time came. I video called my mom and used YT and google to learn to do stuff. So growing up not doing anything around the house doesn’t always make people unappreciative of the things they have.
That said lol I’ll definitely be teaching my hypothetical future offsprings to help around because I don’t have anyone to pick up after me here like I still do on vacations when I visit my home country.

    Couple organization ideas:
    * Get laundry hampers that have 2-4 laundry hampers in it ( the cloth type ).
    * Put a pic of underwear, socks, pants, shirts for each cloth hamper. ( more below ) : )
    * Teach the girls to take their clothing off & put them in the correct hamper ( that will save Deb & Lea a ton of time & have the girls learn how to tackle their laundry a bit ).
    * Have the girls help to sort their laundry & make sure they do not leave them on the floor ( this will get so much worse with teenage years, so start now )
    * Have the girls help to put a small amt of their own laundry away - - this will show them it's not so easy to do what Deb & Lea are doing & they will be more helpful with pulling their clothing out, putting things in the right hamper & helping out.
    * For all of the mismatched socks - - just keep them in a bag & when you have enough without a mate, donate them.... someone out there will not mind the mis-matched socks. : )
    * Just some suggestions, I know you guys are doing your best! : )

At almost 8 yrs. old, they definitely shouldn't be making such a mess, espcially pulling out clean socks or other clothing and leaving them scattered on the floor. It's good training for kids to keep their rooms and clothing clean and neat. Helps them to appreciate the things they have. It's also not very considerate of the kind women who have to deal with the mess, and they're giving their help for free.

This helps foster resolvability as well as understanding that things just don't happen hard work comes first. Each girl could have there own hamper and then each day one girl gets there day to wash there clothing that they used. Then they can put it away. Having them help at a younger age will have with gross motor skills as well as learn the importance of jobs and how to do their share. I noticed in the closets there was a lot of cloths, and my kids would change their cloths multiple times a day. Because they had a lot to choose from. I started putting only the clothes for the season in the closet and dressers. I would put the rest in a box until the season started to change. Then I would rotate them out. This really helped alot. Two other things, you can't add anything new without deleting the like # of items from dresser or closet and, 2 they each had their own towel and 3 washcloths. Sure saved on washing. Maybe these tips can help you. You 2 are great parents. Hugs Debbie Nightengale 🤗

Deb & Lea seem wonderful! I can understand why they like to fold laundry - - I do, too. And, it's always nice to help someone out. If it were me & they had been coming in to my home all that time, & they specifically said they did not want to be paid, I'd think of other ways to pay them back. This is just a suggestion, but you could get them both a gift card to their favorite lunch spot - - they could go there after folding your laundry. Or, you could give them a small gift each month or every few months.
Maybe you've done this, but you could have them over for dinner or to swim in your pool ( maybe you guys do this )......but, I would absolutely being "paying it forward" to these two godsends. It's very kind of them & I'm sure you appreciate them very much. I'm sure you show them this, in return. The ladies should be leaving the socks, underwear, pajamas, and leggings for the girls to put away. That's not so difficult to do that the younger kids couldn't do it.
Also, make it a rule that if you want it washed, it must be in the dirty clothes not under the bed or on the floor. If someone wants/needs a certain clothing item that isn't clean because it was not where it was supposed to be to get washed, then they might remember to put dirty clothes where they should be. Tough to do with five young girls but they're old enough to learn that now. :-)

How would they be able to get out of this obligation without feeling some sort of anxiety? I know they aren't obligated and it's a choice but that little person on their shoulder is saying......this is getting old and I have a life. They may not be able to or want to actually go outside of a home for something to do so going once a week to help this family is something they enjoy. It serves a purpose, makes them happy and they get to be around their favorite girls they've known from babyhood. Win Win :-)

You're very lucky for those two wonderful people. But your girls are old enough to start helping out. If it's clean and you take it out but decide not to wear it please put it back. Every morning they should bring out the dirty clothes and every night they should put away the clean clothes. If they are not in school then start to teach them how to wash the clothes. Many children at this age are doing chores. It helps out the family and you can give an allowance for helping and with that money they will start to learn money management.
