Massive thanks to Joanna Bolitho and Will Newton from V&A Museum of Childhood, London. It's right next to the Bethnal Green tube station - we strongly recommend a visit.
Thanks also to these lovely people: Dan Snow, Nathan Williams, Natt Tapley and Justin Gayner.

Ashens had to be removed from the museum after trying to burn the toys with his blowtorch
😂😂
Thought that said he tried to bum the toys
.... and attempting to eat the three thousand year old toy.
You all make him sound like he's lost his marbles... Unless, do you think he tried burning those too?
Brilliant
A series of Stuart visiting odd museums needs to be a thing.
So weird seeying Ashens in a suit cosplaying an adult lol.
Synthusiast how do? He’s in a suit in the beginning of every video.
Cosplaying as an adult! I love that! I usually say I'm pretending to be an adult, despite actually being 23.
While he used to wear the black suit and red tie from his logo every time he appeared on camera in his early videos, these days I'm used to just seeing him in the light blue Barshens shirt.
Im not sure I've ever seen him without a suit? Even in his logo he has a suit on.
Synthusiast, did you actually laugh out loud after writing that grammatically wrong comment?
I know this is just an ad but I could genuinely get on board with more of this type of informative/documentary style video, Ashens really suits it! Not that I would ever want the normal content to end of course
The Gary Busey Aunt May figure deserves its own glass case in that museum!
burlz G A R Y B U S E Y
An excellent tour.
An excellent comment 😃
An excellent Chef Peepee.
I wonder how many people on CZcams are called Chef Excellence...
One too many i daresay.
+Chef Excellence
How many Chef Pee Pee accounts are there?
Just imagine what your life would be like if you worked for Bowser.
And had to do whatever his spoiled bratty son told you.
We laugh at toys of the past now, but just imagine how freaked out our descendants will be when the see Bratz dolls.
Domino Miah Games They'd probably die of a fear-induced heart attack if they saw *these.*
oh god, those are abominations...
If we're lucky, the paint will rub off with time and they'll just turn into the Tree Change dolls xD
I love his sofa, but I would totally watch a TV series like this if Ashens was the presenter.
Suddenly I feel like Stuart would make an amazing TV presenter
Chris Cryer He used to be on the BBC. Search “Ashens tech dump”.
Ashen's should be a proper TV host.
He has done TV stuff in the past, mostly for Channel 4 if I remember correctly and it was only shorts but he has done some actual TV stuff. Still I would love a show based on his books where he talks to developers and the like of the old school 1980s computer games.
luketfer I would watch that series. I enjoy watching Ashens present things other than dollar store crap and ancient food items.
Yeah it's just charity stuff or that online BBC series he had for awhile.
Was thinking this myself. He should audition to the BBC or whatever.
He'd host like a Top Gear-style show about weird knick knacks and geeky things. HEY That should be the title:
Weird Knick-Knacks and Geeky Things.
I always feel disorientated when I'm forced to realise how famous Stuart actually is.
Ye same, I've been here for about 9yrs so I still think of him as young Dr Stuart Ashen with only a few thousand subs!
When I see him doing bigger things I feel proud of how much he's grown :D
He'll always be our Stuart, reviewing shitty plastic pirates from Poundland on a nasty 80s sofa.
But he still deserves to be famouser
I personally would love more videos like this with the historical vibe
“An excellent advert”
Love the filming on this. You should really do your own documentary one day.
Yeah, it feels like a clip from some BBC documentary. How does the Beeb pick who gets to host those things? Somebody slip Stuart's name into the Goblet of Fire, please.
TAT - A documentary by Stuart Ashen
IQ is thicc
Yes. Perfect. Make it happen. I would pay good money to see it.
This is a VERY good idea...
How many Dan's does Ashens know? NerdCubed, Cousin Dan, the Dan in the "10 Reviews in 10 Minutes" videos, and now this Dan?! IT'S DANPOCALYPSE!!!
What many fail to realize is that there is, in actuality, only one Dan - have you ever seen two Dans in the same room?
How can people dislike this video? Seriously, whats wrong in your boring life?
I absolutely like this video, the script, camera script and movement, the music.
So professional.
So Ashens!
How many Dans do you know....i mean really stuart. How many?
all of them.
At least three.
Temoprary Permanent More like four or five
This one, Hardcastle, Tomlinson, Howell (at least casually), and probably more.

There needs to be a part 2 to this episode where you repay the favour by giving Dan Snow a tour of the local Poundland.
I can just imagine if you had a time machine. "These toys are creepy and scary." and the craftsman "I worked really hard on that.". :(
Ooh, trading standards wouldn't let that Egyptian doll out nowadays, some kid would have their eye out with that neck spike! :D
Larry Bundy Jr it had a head on it originally
rossvegas7 its a joke, dont take it so literally.
But i do wonder how the head looked, did it have hair? Was it a 3D head or flat? Was everything painted on? We may sadly never know.
I read this with your accent.
Larry Bundy Jr it's funny but it's true
It'd be all over the front page of the daily mail. BAN THESE KILLER TOYS! They'd cry.
This should be on mainstream tv.
When is BBC / ITV going to give Stuart his own show ? I can watch him all day !
"And yet they survive."
Ashens is so smooth with his segues. I would have just said "Uh, cool! Alright, thanks for watching!"
So when are you gonna eat them
you need to get out more
Another one?
This guy uses like bots
Timothy Hilditch Most definitely.
Justin Y.
???? Eat what?????
(What am I missing?..... or is this person just one of those morons who think they are so smart and being so witty?)
🤖🤓
How did you tear Dan away from doing 20 documentaries a day for the BBC? He never seems to be not on the telly doing a documentary!! :P
twocvbloke not wrong
You know they're not live, right?
Yes obviously
PLEASE do more of this sort of thing, it's brilliant! I love your usual stuff but this is such a nice addition.
Did anyone else see folks running around inside as they left the museum?.... I think Ashens may have set fire to something.
Ashens is only one point removed from an appearance on The One Show now.
I can fully imagine this on an episode of the one show. I'm half expecting an overly energetic segway from Chris evens at the end
I thought the exact same thing. I'm not overly keen on the one show but, when trying to be mainstream, his cheesy presenting style would lend its's self perfectly to it and it would be a good thing for both him, and the show.
that would be a step down for him
Wow now that's production value
It's weird knowing you're more than a pair of hands
Lenci dolls look like they came straight out of the shinning. "Come and play with us"
Awesome video ashens
Seriously... Ashens for Toy Hunter UK spinoff, dangit! Why is this not a thing yet?
That's a great idea :-) !
This was wonderful! I cannot think of anyone who would do a better job at searching for historical silliness. The BBC are missing out, this should be an amazing series!
Ashens could be a television host of all things weird.
That’s bloody Dan Snow off the telly!!
I kept thinking he was familiar. :o
This was cool - I hope you do more, and longer ones at that! I could have watched well over an hour of you guys just chatting around these strange things. Well, everyone's strapped for time I guess.
History and Ashens, two of my damn favorite things. Words cannot describe my immense confusion and joy.
I miss your sofa
Godot me too
Godot yeah, same.
Maybe one day it will be in a museum
Ashen should bring the sofa on his next adventure
It missed you too. It waited a long time for you, but you never showed up.
Underrated video, your effert is showed in this video, good job keep it up!
I'd actually love to see a full hour long special like this, it's very well produced.
Such a super neat and different video from you. I realize its supposed to be an advert at the end but it was just a nice change and makes me realize i probably would have loved your channel no matter what it was about
I don't care if this is an ad I want to watch more
Rebecca Hanley especially since its an ad for something actually real cool and not just like a brand of razors or something. I love this!
It's Ashens, they'd probably have him selling toilet paper or blowtorches. (Honestly, I could realistically see him doing a sponsored brand deal with a blowtorch company.)
He could team up with The Boring Company for their not-flamethrowers.
“He looks like a clown escaping from a burning circus” amazing
Now go do the same at the Pitt Rivers museum in Oxford, you'll love it for its batshit insanery!
I love this. So proper, so professional, so good. As an outsider, or someone who still thinks CZcams is for 10 minutes of cat videos, you wouldn't guess to find this on the same channel as _burning tiny toys on a couch_ . And that is the beauty of *ashens* .
An Excellent Advertisement.
Seriously, well done.
Honestly, it's always kind of nice to see Stewart outside of his house.
can't wait to see pop stations in this museum in like 50 years
I grew up going into that museum. Havnt been there in years. Brought back memories of being freaked out and interested in some of the toys.
Stuart knows a lot on Dans...
This video wasn't long enough.
When your viewers wish your ads were longer, you're know you're doing it right.
I really hope you do more videos like this. All those videos you did at that technology center were fascinating, and this was pretty great too.
i absolutely loved this. felt like real tv even. brilliant
Whenever I watch one of these big, milestone ashens video comes out I am reminded of the first time I watch his first pop station review all those years ago.
More of these please! Really love Ashens out on the town
This was genuinely useful, as i'm working on the outline for a dissertation on the history of toys. Very nice
Wow - THE Dan Snow. Great video - I'll have to check out the museum the next time I visit London.
This is great I was not expecting this to be so well-made! Very nicely done
Really enjoyed this more serious/informative format. I hope there are more of these in the future; great work!
Loved it Stu! A series like this with you presenting it would be awesome!
Omg I love this format! I'd to see more like this, Ashens fits the role of docu host very well.
Cool it's Dan Snow. Love his documentaries aswell as his father's.
Ashens has the best narrating voice.
this is exactly my kind of niche, thanks for letting me know a museum like this exists!
Those Lenci Dolls at the end look like they're trying to light you on fire with the power of their minds.
Brilliant video. More to come, hopefully.
Steve Blum: "Honey, you couldn't HANDLE my creepy toys."
Thanks Ashens sir, this video was a nice little treat. You are a scholar and a gentleman.
This video needed to be at least 20 minutes longer. Loved it!
Next I want ashens and dan snow to tour Poundland
Legend has it that for every breath Ashens takes, he meets another man called Dan.
Love this ad, I'm sold. I want to visit the museum, I'm off to the website. You host a show in this style really well. They couldn't have picked a better person for the promotion
Two of my favourite people in one video.
Great and interesting toys! I would be very happy if I could visit this museum.
This is an amazing collaboration. And one I never thought would happen
I use to go to this place! well mostly for drawing classes but the funny thing is i didn't draw any of the toys, ever...
But I did walk around and enjoyed looking at them.
Sharp suit, Stuart. Always wondered what the Museum of Childhood exhibited, looks well worth a visit. Thanks!
“...and over here we have some unsettling mechanical monkey musicians, a pair of cloth-skin dolls with disturbingly sinister eyes....and over here is a Super Soaker.”
It was kind of surreal to see this kind of professional filming and editing in an Ashens. While I have no problem with the regular brown couch videos, I welcome more of these kind of videos too, even if they are ads.
Dude, you knocked this one out the park! Well done.
I remember dan use to go by al, he'd come out with head to breathe by the prodigy, had the snowplex finisher... miss those days
This is one of my favorite vids you've done!
I actually really liked this, i hope we get more content like this soon.
Imagine those last two dolls the boy and the girl walking to a narrow hallway in some kind of an old creepy hotel and see them in front of you!
I LOVED this museum when I visited. It's out of the way a bit but really, really worth it. If you're in London check it out :) it only takes a couple of hours to go round and is very good.
Those last two dolls remind me of the "My Little Stepchildren" skit from SNL.
This was pretty cool! Those dolls at the end were the creepiest
Bit and bobs, gubbins, mingle-mangle, mishmash...the english language (UK) is so great sometimes. ^^
It's like I'm watching daytime British TV, but with a weird twist
I really enjoyed this departure from the sofa! I’d like to see more of you looking at old curio’s since you’re knowledgable about things usually. I think it works quite well. Though perhaps less regimented feeling format and so short (tho I understand that’s hard when it’s an ad and a real museum)
fun video. I like when stuart turns on his professional mode
Really brilliant video, thoroughly enjoyable and interesting to see the toys
This is actually really well done, bravo.
You should do more stuff like this, it's wonderful!
I could enjoy more of these!
I love this museum so much. It's my favourite place. :D
This was a very interesting video, I do wish to see more of you visting the V&A Museum of Children and showing off more.
the production value is amazing since its normally a couch good on you man would love to seem more of this kind of stuff
Loved the Katamari-esque music at the end Ashens!!!
