    DMUnot DMR the best train that used to run over settle carlisle was the 10-25am train to glasgow central got to glasgow at 1500 hrs and departed at 1605hrs back to leeds full buffet and restaurant train the other train ysed to be the thames clyde express from st pancras sheffield leeds to glasgow central in the afternoon/breaks?dont you mean brakes

    You can tell what class of the train from the right hand side if you are looking at the front of the train. On trains it is last 3 numbers are the loco or unit number with the first Three number being the Class of Multiple units e.g. 159001. If there is only 5 numbers it is the first 2 numbers for the locomotive e.g.89001. If there is only 4 numbers then the first number is the last number of the multiple units type e.g. 5709 is in fact 455709 and the is some times where you will see 3 numbers there are just or for the units number e.g. 007 would in fact be 483007.

      Hi, no - there was no catering or trolley service onboard at all. May have been down to the restrictions in place at the time.
