Going Postal was my introduction to Discworld and is still one of my favorites. When I need a book to lift my spirits, Going Postal is one of the books I'll listen to. I'm so glad that you liked it!
Its a great place to be introduced to the world and the series! I am glad to hear it is able to do that for you. Its magical when a book can do that
I am only 3 books into Discworld, but I'm in love with the story telling, humor and characters. Loads of fun. Glad Postal was a hit for you. I get a lot of dad joke material from them.
A lot of great dad joke material
Honestly, Discworld has been on my radar for years now. I'm sure I will try it one of these days. The lack of chapters was probably my biggest turnoff keeping me away from the books. It's one of those things I never thought I would even care about. Now even the length of chapters can help me enjoy a book more or less.
Most discworld doesnt have chapters. If it helps Going Postal does have chapters :)
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY!! By the end of the video I was grinning like a loon and with all the awesome you managed to cram into it, there was no time to squeeze Adorabelle, Golems, the Smoking Gnu, or a Banshee in 😁
I recommend you check out the BBC adaptation - while Reacher Gilt is a let down (David Suchet? really?), Vetinari is played to absolute perfection by Charles Dance, Moist by Richard Coyle (which is why he had such great understanding of the story beats as the narrator), Adorabelle by Clair Foy, and Groat by Andrew Sachs (Manuel from Faulty Towers). While some of the ridiculous is missing, and the focus is the competition against the clacks, I count it among the best Discworld adaptations.
have def been wanting to watch the BBC adaptation. David suchet is a dissapointment? That shocking his Poirot is fantastic
Thanks for the reminder at the beginning of the video to like th video. I'd already gone full screen on it and was like, "oh yeah, can't forget the thumbs up for my dude!" I've read Guards! Guards! but that's it for Discworld, going to check this one out. Yeah, about the audios, Audible and I think Penguin Random House, announced ac couple of years ago that they were going to redo all of Discworld, using some really great actors (like Bill Nighy) and others along with other top-notch narrators. It's was going to be a long term investment to get it done but they really believed in Terry Pratchett's legacy and wanted to give it its proper due. I will send you a video about it that I remember watching.
LOL thanks Aaron It is always apprecaited :) I have watched a couple videos on the re record of discworld. There is a lot of talent involved with the project
I really loved the Death books. But it was the kind of love that I didn't realize until I thought about the books for a while. I haven't read Going Postal yet, but I definitely will someday.
There are a lot of great parts to the death novels but they just aren’t my favorites. I’m glad to hear you love them
I would actually recommend trying The Truth and and Monstrous Regiment which are standalones but you do get the city watch in them. They are some of my favourites!
I have them! I’m just prioritizing the Moist books first :). I am glad to hear they are great 😊
@@AndrewsWizardlyReads Of the standalones I think it will only be Small Gods and The Amazing Maurice that won't vibe with you. The rest are wonderful, and you've met Sacharissa now, so seeing her journalistic beginnings in The Truth will be fun.
This is my next Discworld book to read. (I’ve been reading them in order since the 90’s). Great to hear it’s a good one!
Thats awesome! IMO its one of the stronger ones in the series
Hard to not love the Moist novels. Awesome review! I take it you're going to be continuing on with the series? After his success with the postal office, Vetinari has some hilariously epic plans for Moist.
I am definitely continuing:) very excited to do so
Thanks for the book review!! 😊
My pleasure!
Going postal is the only one I’ve read from discworld so far and I enjoyed it!
It a really great read
@@AndrewsWizardlyReads the next one I want to read is guards guards, but what do you think my next one in the discworld should be?
@@lovelydaywithholly I LOVE guards guards :)
One of my favourites.
m reading making money now and I am excited. Going Postal was AMAZING
@@AndrewsWizardlyReads Also one of my favourites. I'm sure you will enjoy it just as much.
@@alpine_newt it’s been good so far!
