    By this logic, everyone who's ever had takeout and has had to drive a distance before being able to refrigerate the leftovers would immediately have to throw them out by the time they got home.
    I like saving my leftover steaks from Texas Roadhouse - seems a waste to throw out good ingredients (especially steak) . They usually immediate get refrigerated when I get home, but the drive is at minimum an hour. Of course, that's also assuming nothing else comes up or you don't catch a movie or something after - which is what I ended up doing.
    Got home about four hours later - immediately put everything in the fridge.
    Two days later (today), everything seemed fine. No smell, no discoloration, no slimy film. Took some of the leftover steak, diced it up, fried it in oil, then served it on a bed of fresh veggie rice. I'm eating it as I type this - and it tastes pretty darn good.
    Wish me luck.

    I just cooked rice and started to eat 4 hours later. I have had sausages from yesterday's party which were laying in the sand and grass all day under sunshine :D, so tasty. I was punk then. Also eating baked potatoes from last night. My digestion and health was very normal.

    It is very common here in Indonesia to leave out food on the table only covered by big plastic covers with holes, and that can be hours and reheat every 6 hours or until anyone at home wants to eat. It's been like that since forever and nothing bad ever happens.
    I think food can last longer or not depending on how clean it was prepared, some type of food may last longer than the others, and even the same type of food made by different cooks, one can last longer than the others. Me personally, I judge food safe to eat or not from its smell, if it still smells good, doesn't matter how long it's been left out on the table, it's safe to eat. But it has to be stored properly even on the table, not fully open and not let bugs step on the food. Some food even taste better after being reheated a few times, like lodeh, because the absorption of the ingredients and texture change.
    In my opinion, the reason behind this is just economy, jobs related to selling food are so many that selling food is among the biggest wheels for moving the economy of a country. The more ppl believe it the better.

    • @jeffreygryga3295
      @jeffreygryga3295 Před 7 měsíci

      I had a friend that working out somewhere near Indonesia and she said they left food out under some beaded strings. The strings kept the flies out. Then she said they would leave it there and eat it the rest of the night or finish it the next morning. I buy pizzas from the pizza place that has a Tuesday special and sometimes I buy too many and I just leave them on the stove until they're all gone. Sometimes that Thursday. Never been sick from the pizza!

    • @T1k3mys0n
      @T1k3mys0n Před 7 měsíci

      @@jeffreygryga3295 Yea, that's right, beaded strings or plastics.
      See, that's why I think the reason for this 'myth' is economy, the more ppl throw out food in fear of what they believe, the more people will buy food and move the economy wheel.
      On the case of pizza, yea pizza is an amazing convenient instant food like that lol.

    I'm watching this after eating food sat out 7 hours in the to go bag...I got busy and did not go home for awhile. Most of it was cold when I left the place. @@MarcKlark well she said that is the amount of time that bacteria that " could" be harmful would would need to cultivate but that all depends on what the food it is what temperature it was cooked at and the level of cleanliness where the food is kept as well as the individual person's ability to deal with bacteria. So for example if it's a sushi roll with raw fish then yea 2 hrs is too long to eat that but a slice of cheese pizza could sit out for a super long time you probably dont have to worry as much about it.

Salsa and pizza left overnight….never sick….I think it’s common sense. Like if a piece of meat had been baking in 90 plus all day then clearly no …..but some of this seems asinine.

    This is actually false news! People have been eating left out food for millions of years. You just have to re-cook it. Let's say you leave your pot of cooked beans and mashed potatoes out for 10 hours during Christmas day while visiting family. You can literally put the food in the fridge and when it comes time to eat it again the next day as long as you reheat that food to a minimum internal temperature of 165°F it is safe to eat.
    Now if your severely sick with some debilitating disease or cancer and need fresh food and don't want to take the chance then I understand but for the rest of the population it is safe to do.
