  • //IN THIS VIDEO:
    I was very transparent and vulnerable and I poured my heart out, about how I failed the Ontario Bar Exam. I shared how I experienced failure and the struggles that followed. I made this video to encourage anyone out there who has failed before, and who has hit rock bottom, that there is still a light at the end of the tunnel.
    This video is very long, but I will encourage you to watch it till the end, and share it to all your loved ones because there are several lessons to be learned from my experience. I also share the things I did differently that helped me pass the exam.

    Hello Mo! I thoroughly enjoyed your video and I can relate to your struggles! I'm a lawyer in Ontario. I also had struggles with bar exam and had unsuccessful attempts with both exams but I eventually too passed. My situation was slightly different where I had many roadblocks along the way with family circumstances/ deaths during my period of writing the bar exam. A very inspirational video that shows to never give up on your dreams!

    Wow. It’s great you didn’t give up. People often get depressed with failures, but truly it’s what we do after we fail that really matters. You’re so lucky to also have great colleagues and bosses.

    Thank you for sharing this. I think it is really important to be honest in our profession (one where speaking about "failure" is taboo) and we need more transparency with respect to the bar exam. Many people feel shame and embarrassment for not having passed the first try...we need to start changing that and discussing this more! The bar exam is difficult and anyone who has taken it and denies its difficulty is really doing a disservice to those who do not pass the first try and those who do. As someone who was luckily enough to bass both exams on the first try I have great empathy for those that have to go through this awful process twice and try to do what I can to help.

      Hi Sandra,
      Thank you for your kind words of understanding. I'm honestly appalled by the condescension shown by most people who pass it in their first attempt.
      It's really a disservice to others who aren't so lucky first time trying. I'm so glad you understand. Thanks for your comment.

      Hi Fahmida,
      I really appreciate the sentiment.
      Anxiety and the fear of failing are irrevocable parts of the human experience. It is how we respond to those feelings that matters. I reckon that one should always respond with courage and resilience, in order to transcend such feelings.

    Thank you so much Mo. I would like to ask a question. Can someone be a qualified lawyer at the age of 21?

    • @AskMo
      @AskMo  Před 4 lety

      Hi,
      Thanks for your question,
      It will depend on your jurisdiction. For example I got called to Bar in Nigeria at age 21. One has to look into the laws of each jurisdiction to ascertain whether there are age restrictions guiding who gets called to Bar.

    Do the students get paid for doing 10months of articling before becoming a licensed lawyer in Ontario? If yes, then how much they pay you on average? Can I make a living out of it? Please answer. It’ll be really helpful for me. I’m from Bangladesh and I’m really big fan of yours.
