  • Hello everyone! Today I am doing a tutorial specifically centered on my colored pearl cell recipe. I have been working on this recipe and trying to perfect it for a couple months and even though I don’t have it perfect I am finally ready to show you a step by step tutorial along with how I mix those paints specifically. I go through not only the recipe but very detailed in how I achieve the colored pearl cells. Stick around til the end to see me do a pour demonstrating how I achieve the different colored pearls. I think it turned out pretty cool but I need you guys to let me know in the comments what you think of it. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed creating it!
    HOW I MIX MY PAINTS FOR (White) PEARL CELLS AND DUTCH POUR:

    As always, please let me know if you are enjoying this technique, if you have any suggestion of what you want to see or have any questions. I do read every comment and answer each and every question. Please enjoy!
    Materials I used in this demonstration:
    2- 12”x12” Traditional Canvas’
    Amsterdam: Titanium White
    Amsterdam: Turquoise Blue, Turquoise Green, Sky Blue Light,
    Pebeo Studios: Iridescent Blue Green
    DecoArt Metallics: 24K Gold
    Golden Fluids: Payne’s Grey
    Art Alchemy: Teal-Blue
    Golden GAC 800
    Golden Color Pour Medium
    US Floetrol
    Behr Satin Enamel (untinted deep base)
    Colored Pearl Recipe:
    4 -6 parts Behr Satin Enamel Deep Base
    3 parts US Floetrol
    2 parts tube paint or 1 part fluid paint (to tint)
    1.5 parts Golden Gloss Color Pouring Medium
    Water to thin (approx 4 parts depending on Behr satin enamel ratios)
    Pouring Medium for puddle and Dutch pour paints: 50% Floetrol 50% Golden GAC 800
    Water to thin consistency
    Puddle & Dutch Pour Paints mixed 1 pt paint to 5 pts PM and water to consistency (tube paint approximately 1 part water, fluid paint no water)
    No silicone used for cells. It was all the layering of the paints that made those cool effects.

    Tara, thank you so much for this very detailed video. Before I found you and watched several of your pours, I had watched a few tutorials but some artists wanted us to join and buy a class to learn this mixing. I don't have that extra $$ that they are asking to show the mixing procedure. Just a few of you do. I truly thank you. I did not have golden pouring medium. I had Floetrol, and was experimenting with ratios, but was not having any luck unless I added a little silicon. I will go buy some golden and I wrote down your amounts. Water I will guess to the right consistency. I love your channel, happy painting!!😊

    Bottled water has minerals, as I understand. Only Distilled water has all properties removed. Where I live the pipes are so old, to paint effectively, I have used only distilled water for last 2 years. I keep it in the fridge.

    • @PiecesofTaraArtistry
      @PiecesofTaraArtistry  Před 2 lety

      Yes I have used both distilled and bottle and just plain tap water. All have been fine for me but I have decent city water. If you are on a well and don’t have great water, distilled works fine as well as bottled water. Even with the minerals I have seen no difference. If you are storing your paints for long periods of time distilled is best. 👍☺️

      @@PiecesofTaraArtistry Good morning Tara. I made up your recipe yesterday but cut everything in half. Also do not have Gac or any pouring medium except for a couple squirts on Liquitex pm. I got nothing. I used Amsterdam white and Floetrol with water to thin. I have Behr satin enamel deep base untinted interior with primer. I did it 3 x. I'm wondering if it has to be the exact one you have or have you used another? I may keep trying but I may move on to something else. You are a great artist and tutor. Be safe.

      I’m sorry you didn’t have success. Amsterdam white might be the problem. If you are going for white pearls my other recipe is better with the artist loft white. Amsterdam paint is heavy so you need more satin enamel to get it to float. What is the recipe you are using for the puddle paint?

      Thanks Doris. At Home Depot they hide it so you might have to ask for it. Then you have to try and get it out of their clutches without them tinting it. It’s kinda funny to watch their faces when you say you don’t want it tinted...🤣😆

      Hi Patricia. I’m not sure exactly what you are saying. I’m a little confused. Are you asking if you can use the Liquitex with the Satin Enamel? If so the answer is yes. You can use either the Liquitex Pouring Medium or the Golden Color Pouring Medium. They can be substituted for each other in this recipe. If that’s not what you mean please clarify. I’m also not sure what that has to do with ventilation. I’m really sorry I’m not sure I’m following you…but I’d like to…☺️

    You’re not just a fabulous artist, but a beautiful person as well. Thank you for all you give us ordinary peeps. Sadly 90% of the products you have, are not available in South Africa. I did import American Floetrol (expensive to ship) and it was so full of “icky” thingy’s floating in it.

      @PiecesofTaraArtistry  Před 3 lety

      Hello my dear. Thank you again for all your kind words. I’m sorry you can’t get a lot of these products. As far as the floetrol…you can strain it by cutting a piece of nylon and rubber banding it to the nozzle. That will keep all the floaties out! Thanks for watching and your support! ❤️☺️🙏🏻

    I need to help with the difference between deep base and white base. Deep base has No Tint. If you look at a gallon (128oz) Deep Base it will have 104 oz of base (glue) so it leaves room for the tint. Some have 118 oz of base leaving room for the tint such as reds, black, green, etc. When you buy white paint it contains titanium oxide paint premixed at 128 ounces. Leaving a little room for a small amount of tint. So to recap White Paint contains white paint and binder (glue). Deep Base contains no white paint or tint just the binders (glue)

    • @PiecesofTaraArtistry
      @PiecesofTaraArtistry  Před 5 měsíci

      Seems like you have a good grasp on the deep base vs the white paint. I'm not sure what your qustions is. Could you clarify? 😊

      Hi Terri! Thanks so much for your kind words. This is a pearl cell pour and Dutch pour combo. I do list all of my paints and pouring medium on the screen and in the description box in case this isn’t the white u r referring to…I think you are referring to the pour over paint - Amsterdam Titanium White mixed with my pouring medium of 50% Floetrol/50% Golden GAC 800. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching! ❤️🙏🏻☺️

  • @pennymcclenahan2905
    @pennymcclenahan2905 Před 3 lety +1

    Hey! Why did u change the recipe? Is there a main reason? I have problem getting pearls? Is there a major difference between Liquitex irredesent? Thanks

    • @PiecesofTaraArtistry
      @PiecesofTaraArtistry  Před 3 lety

      Thank you for your question Penny! So I didn’t change my recipe…this is actually a brand new recipe out there to create pearls that have color…the white pearls are a different recipe. I hope that clarifies it. If you watch the few videos prior to this video you will see I was working on getting pearls of color and not just white pearls so I came up with this recipe using the Untinted Behr Satin Enamel. That way your color isn’t diluted down with white. As far as the Liquitex Iridescent Pouring Medium…I have never used it but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. it will just give you a little iridescence to your paint…it won’t be super noticeable though because you only use a small amount and it is very diluted by water…but you can try it! if you do let me know how it works! ❤️☺️🙏🏻
