when I finished watching this video, the breath literally ran out of my lungs. When you hit rock bottom it is difficult to communicate it, even more so to make others aware of intense pain and to know how to share it so as not to make them feel alone. We are all victims ''of the canyon'', but we are also all capable of resurrecting the strength we are endowed with and ''coming out of the dark''. I don't know how to express myself further, this song is simply a hymn to resilience, to putting aside fear and resurrecting as a new you, stronger, more aware, more ready. Ashton, if there's one thing I'm truly grateful for, it's sharing my existence with you. Every word of yours in every song of yours reflects a part of me, a chapter of mine, closed or open, you reflect all of us because you know how to talk about pain delicately but also boldly. I needed to write it. Thanks for your words. For me you are first of all considered a poet, then an artist, one of the greats (I commented under the song ''wicked habits'' that I define you as such, explaining my point of view) and then a voice for all those who have succeeded to save themselves and for those who are still struggling to do so. The ending made me tear up. He finds the light and solace through performing. And then the "You are not alone. Hold on." That made me feel understood and less alone too. 😭❤
