To be honest I think the new zurg’s design looks fine enough and could pass as either the original or the new the same Lightyear does here

Im not really too confident Disney is going to be the great and next smash bros, considering people said the same thing about nick all star brawl and multiversus, but I hope that Disney will make the 3rd times a charm come true
@@Wallie33. ok, I am sick of this, Multiversus WAS getting constant updates and was in BETA, just because they don’t add characters every FIVE MINUTES doesn’t mean it wasn’t getting constant updates, it takes more to make a fighting game than just “throwing in characters” there’s bugs and glitches to work on, there are licensing agreements for characters they don’t out right own and ALL of this takes something you all seem to have forgotten exists called TIME, so patience is a requirement for things like this

But sigh you know man is whatever. I am still gonna wait patiently for the game to come back in 2024. Hopefully this time we actually get the game on a better state. This game has a lot of potential to become truly great still.

Still can’t believe mvs hasn’t release a character in 5 months almost 6. The communication is what upsets me the most, just completely ignoring the community as a whole.

Communication was excellent for quite a while. Now I'm hearing that they just dropped off the face of the earth.
Same thing happened with Mortal Kombat 11.
I think it has to be related to the Discovery-Warner merge, which happened around the time Multiversus was released.
Discovery bought Warner and started to cancel and to cut budget to a lot of WB's projects. They even cancelled the release of already finished productions in order to evade having to pay for that. Basically, Discovery just wanted WB's resources for their own projects.
That's why I think they started very strong, with 5 fighters in just the beta and the 1st season, but after the merge their budget got heavily reduced.

Ever since MultiVersus, a Disney platform fighter is something I’ve been dreaming of. Disney movies, Disney television, Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 20th Century. I know that because it’s Disney, they’d probably keep things family friendly. But I REALLY hope they go the MultiVersus route. Imagine all the characters you said, plus characters from Family Guy, Predator, Indiana Jones, High School Musical, and heck, maybe even Sora. I know he’s already in Smash, but Disney are the ones who own him so they could do it. It would be such a wild roster and I’m all for it. But at the end of the day, I’m a major Star Wars nerd and that would be the biggest selling point for me. I would really hope they do what they did for Disney Infinity and do NOT go light on the Star Wars characters. Give me Rey, Mando, Vader, Obi-Wan, Anakin, Palpatine, Yoda, Ahsoka, Luke, Han, Leia, Maul, Boba, Ezra, Thrawn…I could go on and on.

I do think it's possible since Disney has been releasing console video games lately. We have Dreamlight Valley (Disney's answer to Animal Crossing), Speedstorm (Disney's answer to Mario Kart), and Illusion Island. Some picks I want are Aladdin, Hercules, Tarzan, Kim Possible, Dave, Chiro, Violet, Jake Long, Yin, and Yang. Dave the Barbarian, Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!, American Dragon: Jake Long, and Yin Yang Yo are underrated shows. They're perfect for a Disney platform fighter.
I would pay gold just to see Anne Boonchuy and Kuzco fighting against Rocket from "Little Einsteins" and Kermit the Frog

What I'm hoping for is infinity figures being rereleased so that they can be used on this, and original figures can add older characters!
A really great concept. If Disney is making their own platform fighter akin to Smash Bros; then here's how they can make it a solid rival to the series.
1) Make it a retail game instead of going to the F2P route, as live service games are going into decline.
2) Have unlockable characters be unlocked after fulfilling certain requirements (chances are the 12 other characters are the unlockables).
3) Have extra content for both single player and multiplayer: Arcade/Ladder Mode, Minigames, Survival, Time Attack, Special Match Mode (akin to Event Mode from Smash Melee and Brawl), Story Mode, Special Rules for multiplayer, Gallery, Music Shop, In game shop, Statuette Collection, and that's it.
For the characters I want to see (and they could be perfect for DLC): Hercules, Hades, Luke Skywalker, Deadpool, Beast, Simba, Pete, Rapunzel, and Sora (I know the last one is a tall order, but still).
This roster would be AMAZING. My only gripe is that you know Disney would treat Mickey and co like Nintendo does Mario. I could easily see Minnie getting in, maybe with a Daisy Clone? I’d love if they added Oswald too. I’d also love to see a playable Ursula who could be this games version of a zoner too. This kind of concept is so exciting to me either way, though!

I was already thinking about the thought of Disney making a platform fighter even before those leaks came out. It just makes sense. I didn't even think about point you brought up about Disney making games inspired by the best selling Switch games, and that just adds on to the possibility. I would like play a Disney platform fighter, since I grew up liking Disney, and I also tried out the other platform fighters like Multiversus and Nickelodeon All Star Brawl and am curious how Disney would do theirs.

I hope we see a game like this made eventually, but I hope it’s not a freemium game like Multiversus and more like a polished Nick all stars or even a full on competitor to Smash. If anyone can do it it’s Disney, but they also could mess it up big time. Also if I could add 3 characters it’d probably be someone from Tron, Wreck it Ralph, and Sora so that way it represents Disney Characters who are affiliated with videogames, but they’re all oddball picks, so they most likely won’t happen.
I really do like the roster choices here. This would make a really great base roster. I am curious if it had a story mode, how would it go out? Cause the 3 villains i feel have totally different goals, so would they even work together, or be individual bosses for various stories?
I think it could be interesting to expand the possibilities from their 'Star' brands... Walking Dead, Family Guy, Alien, Predator, LOST, Ice Age, Buffy, the list goes on.
I just made my own roster for a smash-like Disney game and I got mindblown by how similar it is to your list. I also chose Elza, Moana and Mulan as the princesses reps, and my roster also had the same three villains at the end of the list.
It’s a very good point that Disney made their own Mario Kart and Animal Crossing, so the last thing they could take a crack at is a Platform Fighter,
A Disney Smash would be great. Especially since they own so much IPs that it would make for such a large roster and large amount of potential additions for DLC. Also since they actually own most of their stuff unlike WB which has rights issues and has lots of controversies (HBO Velma) with stuff, it may be more consistent
Your Roster sounds really fun, an Avatar Rep shocked me and a little bizarre but like you said both movies made a lot of money and I didn’t even know Avatar was owned by Disney before watching this video. If I could choose on of my own I’d probably choose Sora even if he already is in Smash, and to be fair Kingdom Hearts is very successful as well and Sora would bring in more players.
This reminds me of my own roster for a Disney fighting game that’s more along the lines of Cartoon Network Punchtime Explosion or Nickelodeon All Star Brawl in terms of centering more on Disney Television Animation characters rather than just all of Disney.

Interesting character mix. I've been trying to create my own Disney fighting game roster, and narrowing it down to just a small number of characters that I'm satisfied with has been a challenge, but this video has definitely been a source of inspiration. I'm curious to know how specifically you'd work Sulley and Mike as a duo. Would they be like the Ice Climbers, or would you only be able to play as one at a time and swap them interchangeably? I'd also hope to see Dumbo and Simba make it via DLC.

I could easily picture Doofenshmirtz getting the Waluigi treatment similar to Smash Bros, and not appearing in a single Disney Fighting platformer and always acting as an assist trophy, plus they are kinda similar lol, it would be such a funny coincidence. I can just envision the Waluigi & Doofenshmirtz fans finding each other online and ranting online together so they can finally see them as a playable character in a fighting platformer lol. Bill Cipher could work as a character, but he may work even better as a boss in the games story mode, his eye gives off those main boss weak point vibes, which would work quite well in terms of a boss.
For all of those that don't know or are new to this concept design, it is actually based on an old Disney game that was discontinued a couple years already. It was really fun, with a lot of Disney Fans but sadly ended! It's called @Disney Infinity. Some of the companies that worked on this franchise during those times are Avalanche Studio (Harry Potter Legacy), and Sumo Digital, Ninja Theory Games. It's truly amazing to know that there's going to be a Disney-based platform fighter game soon!!! I'm really excited😃, and hoping 😇that really soon we would have a teaser or a trailer for this. This game should be made for all new and recent new game platforms, including PC (Both Steam and EpicGames)...
A part of me would really like to see Miguel from coco in a Disney platform fighter. I know he’s not a fighter in the movie, but I feel like him being a blaster character with bunch of musical guitar moves with different effects would be really cool to see.
And his ultimate would be something day of the dead related
I appreciate the concessions you made to the roster and the reasoning behind them - Rey over Obi or Luke is extremely likely due to everything you mentioned. The only addition I'd make is one of Aladdin, Jasmine, Jafar, or Genie because any one of them is an extremely heavy hitter and I feel the roster is just a little light on the 90's representation. I genuinely hope that if this game happens it's done with care and takes all the time it needs.

Yeah… I definitely agree that theres going to be a Disney smash bros sometime soon. It’s just about inevitable, and platform fighters have spiked in popularity recently with a ton of new ones coming out in the past few years. I’d also LOVE the idea of it. That game is something I’ve thought about for a long time. And it’s definitely something I’d buy.
Personally, I'm all for The Disney Afternoon Fight Fest, a game that was teased at the end of the 2022 Chip N' Dale: Rescue Rangers Movie. All your favorite characters from the Disney Afternoon era (and Shnookums and Meat) battle it out. I feel that it could also have references to actual video games from the DA era, such as Scrooge using his cane as a pogo stick and a golf club (DuckTales for NES), Baloo using a paddle ball (TaleSpin for Sega Genesis), and Bonkers tossing bombs (Bonkers for SNES).

“Disney is the only company on earth that can have a roster the size of smash bros without using a single guest character” I’m pretty sure there are specific franchises that have over 90 characters in them, unless you’re referring to all the spirits and stuff which yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney is the only company in the world that has full ownership of THAT many named characters
I just hope the game will be finished and polished on release. Multiversus and NASB werent ready for all the attention, so whatever this Disney plat fighter is it has to be prepared for the inevitable hype or itll struggle.

I’m genuinely surprised Disney didn’t make a platform fighter before Warner Bros. Disney has much more marketable and iconic characters than Warner Bros.

Merlin and Yen Sid would obviously be wizards who would specialize in support spells, health boosts, mana boosts, and range type attacks.
Few assist trophy ideas for this Disney smash game...
Woody: lasso opponents away from fighter that summoned him.
Wreck it Ralph: hits ground with his fist, causing opponents other than who summoned him to trip
Syndrome (Incredibles): use powers to throw opponents off stage.
Baymax: Gives whoever summoned him advanced health.
Genie (Aladdin): can do something to everyone with magic, such as flipping screen upside down or making everyone in slow motion.
King Tritan (TLM): uses his trident to zap opponents.
Gonzo (Muppets): puts whoever is close to him into a cannon and fires him.
Star Butterfly: Uses wand to give negative affects to opponents, such as slow motion or health drain.
Who else should be a AT?
Leo (Little Einsteins): he conducts a crescendo, causing music notes to rise from the ground and sending the opponents flying upwards
Chernabog (Fantasia): he would make his minions fly all around the stage
Peter Griffin and Ernie the giant chicken (family guy): they fight all across the stage, causing damages to the opponents
Baby Sinclair (Dinosaurs): he runs all around the stage swinging a frying pan while shouting "NOT THE MOMMA!", causing endless damages to the opponents
Kronk (the emperor's new groove): he pulls a lever (wrong lever!), causing the opponents random damages (sending them flying upwards, making them fall into a trapdoor, making them fall asleep, poison them etc.)
Heffalumps and Woozles (Winnie the Pooh): they dance all across the screen in a big mess of honey and thus poisoning the opponents
Ivy Sundew (Amphibia): she commits an AMBUSH on the opponents, sending them flying off the stage

I think an underrated character that could have a great moveset is Bruno from Encanto, i don't know why but i see him more like a magician, that can throw sand, levitate, meditate and probably could have a mechanic of reading your rival next attack or something like that, maybe a counter attack or a a move that allows you to see the cooldown of your ennemy attack or whatever the new mechanics could have that Disney platform game
We actually had a smash-like fighting game mode in the marvel add-on for Disney infinity 3.0, It was fun, but was before the Fox purchase, would have loved to see an x-men theme for the fourth game.
Disney had also made mobile kingdom builders, And RPGS they are trying to do every genre lol.
If this does happen, I would love to see bolt as a character he would fit this game very well I think plus I really like that movie, unfortunately the movie is kinda forgotten so idk the chances of that happening, though I still see bolt plushies in Disney from time to time so who knows

You know what character I'd want? WINNIE THE POOH. It may sound silly at first, which it is, but think about it. Not only is he very marketable, so it would make sense to have him, but he could also be like the Kirby of this game, cute and easy for beginners, and has a lot of annoying moves that little Timmy can spam. I actually have a whole idea of a Winnie the Pooh moveset if he was in a platform fighter but I'm still working on it.
But I feel like if they don't want to add Pooh, they'd probably add Tigger instead. Mainly because he's arguably the most skilled and powerful character in the PCU (Pooh Cinematic Universe). I can see him as Falco, simple, fast and strong with the highest jump in the game
And for Me, I felt like Captain Jake can be an easy given because he is Disney Junior's little Pirate He-Man for the love of Cheese!

So basically Disney has made a Disney version of mario cart, animal crossing (It is similar), and now some brawl game like SSB
I remember there being a Disney moba and Wreck it Ralph was a playable character. I would like to see him and Fix it Felix JR. as Donkey Kong and Mario like fighters.
Could potentially rival that of Multiversus in terms of unique playable characters. Live action Inspector Gadget and Scrooge McDuck would be cool!
I feel if tho at least Minnie needs to be there too, along side Mickey, Donald and Goofy
I'd also add Simba and maybe Scar to represent The Lion King (Timon and Pumbaa would be great too, but I could see them becoming DLC)

also Kingdom Hearts, and add Sora and Riku since Disney owns them and having some Kingdom Hearts representation would be a pretty good idea (specially if it can somehow cross promote a Kingdom Hearts fighting game if they ever go that route, tho I could see their Disney fighting game end up begin a Kingdom Hearts series game as well, it's probably only a matter of time before we have a Kingdom Hearts fighting and racing game at this point)
I can also see them adding Indiana Jones as a fighter and as much as I'd prefer them not to, they'll probably add a character or 2 from their live action remakes
anyway, with Jack Sparrow, we would need Davy Jones, Barbossa and maybe even Will and Elizabeth as well
Since we’re talking about what characters should fit the bill on Disney’s version of Super Smash Bros. it should also make sense to give these characters a skin gallery for them for the players to select when picking ur character to fight ur opponent like
Spider-Man skins: Black Symbiote suit, Scarlet Spider suit, Future Foundation suit, Iron Spider suit
Iron Man skins: Mark 1, Mark 42, Mark 85, Superior Iron Man
Wolverine skins: Weapon X skin, X-Force suit, Old Man Logan skin, Leather Jacket skin

I like your list and hope this comes true. My only problem is idk if Disney would approve of a game where their main characters literally beat each other up as the objective of the game. While it would be awesome, I am hesitant to believe anything or get my hopes up because of this. Should Disney release a platform fighter? Yes. Will they allow Wolverine to stab up Elsa, or Lightning McQueen to run over Mickey Mouse? We shall see.

Disney infinity 3.0 had a 3D platform fighter for marvel characters.
To add more proof that Disney might be cooking up a platform fighter, there was a datamine leak in Multiversus that had Marvel and Naruto related assets, as well as characters titled "Ninja" and "Brute". This was leftover content, and implies that Player First Games pitched the idea to Disney and Shonen Jump and used Hulk and Naruto as test characters, but was turned down by both of them. Now, Shonen Jump is obvious, they probably already have a game planned for their 55th anniversary (whether it's a platform fighter or not is unknown), but Disney turning them down is very interesting. It's possible they already have a platform fighter of their own in development!
Nope. They probably turned them down because they don't want there characters in combat, same reason they canceled that other attempt at a platform fighter.

Another duo character what would also make sense would be Chip and Dale. They would probably be a rushdown and would be light weight character.
Other characters that would make sense or that has a chance to get in are:
Minnie Mouse, Kermit the frog, Captain America, Peter Pan, Captain Hook, and Oswalt (he might have a lower chance to get in basegame but i can see him as the last character in a DLC)
Hopefully Darkwing Duck will be a playable character in this game

Ngl this launch roster looks excellent. Whenever Disney launches their platform fighter, it has he potential to be a great hit… provided two things. One, they need to nail the art style, put in voice acting or voice clips, and it has to have a minimum of fun and complexity. Second, they need to make it a real purchasable game with dlc and not a live service game. They already have two such games, they’d be spreading themselves thin with a third one, especially at a time when live service games are seeing a decline. I may have seen wrong analytics and sources but I think in the end à live service would hurt them in the long run
