  • A Zambian public service agency, Crowd Intelligence Services Zambia (CIS), has written to Namibia's Minister of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security, requesting that the minister reconsider the case of Zambian artist Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo Maps.
The renowned musician was detained by Namibian immigration authorities over the weekend due to complications related to his immigration status.
In a letter addressed to Dr. Albert Kawana, CIS said that Mukenga's intent was solely to entertain and contribute to the cultural and economic landscape of Namibia.
"Yo Maps’ presence not only delights audiences but also brings significant economic benefits through event revenues, benefiting both Namibian and Zambian communities," CIS stated in the letter.
The agency wants the minister to review and release Mulenga expeditiously, and it has further requested that the minister consider waiving any penalties or adjusting his immigration status to facilitate his stay and activities in Namibia.
The letter concluded with CIS expressing confidence that the Namibian authorities would handle the appeal with fairness and justice, reflecting the spirit of the bilateral relations shared by the two countries and the cultural exchange between the two nations.
CIS is a private intelligence firm that describes its activities as working together with the Zambian government on investigations and crime education.

I am sure a Namibian artist cannot cross into Zambia and start performing in musics without a permits. Even if they are well known artists law is law and nobody is above the law.

What you are saying is not correct. Anybody who travels out of the country has always have to check on the immigration laws of the country he is going to. Each purpose of visit has got it's own law. A business visit is different from a normal visit. Therefore he must have followed the procedure of conducting a business in a foreign country. Ignorance is not an excuse. He was simply being lawless.

He went to Namibia as a visitor and started performing there. He was arrested on the stage for performing without permit in a foreign country. I am shocked that he could have been so ignorant of immigration procedures. Zambians are such an embarrassment !!!!
