One Thousand and One Nights is a collection of Middle Eastern folk tales compiled in Arabic during the Islamic Golden Age. It is often known in English as the Arabian Nights. "Aladdin's Wonderful Lamp" is one of the famous stories in this collection. In the animated musical, "Aladdin," the titular character is an orphaned street urchin who seeks to marry the Sultan's daughter. Aladdin comes across a magic lamp that, when rubbed, produces a genie who will grant the boy three wishes. Once Aladdin is transformed into a wealthy prince, he attempts to woo the princess and help the poor living in the city of Agrabah. Aladdin is tricked by an evil wizard who wants to become all powerful with the help of the genie and the magical lamp. In the end, Aladdin emerges victorious as he banishes the wizard with the help of the genie and lives happily with his new friends and the princess.
