AUDI A7 REAR BRAKE PAD CHANGE EASY - ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE - COMPLETE TUTORIAL

Welcome to my channel! Today, I'll guide you through the process of changing the rear brake pads on your Audi A7, focusing on the unique challenge presented by the electric parking brake system. Proper maintenance of your brakes is crucial for safety and performance, and with the electric parking brake, there are a few extra steps we need to take. Let's get started!
Step 1: Gather Your Tools
Before we begin, make sure you have all the necessary tools and materials:
Jack and jack stands
Lug wrench
Diagnostics tool compatible with Audi
Brake pad spreader tool
New brake pads
Brake fluid (optional, for topping up if necessary)
Spanner 13mm, 15mm
Flat head screwdriver
Step 2: Prepare the Vehicle
Park your Audi A7 on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels but do not remove them completely. Then, safely jack up the rear of the car and support it with jack stands. Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels.
Step 3: Accessing the Brake Caliper
Locate the brake caliper on the rear wheel assembly. The electric parking brake system is integrated into the caliper, so we'll need to use a diagnostics tool to retract the caliper piston. Connect your diagnostics tool to the car's OBD-II port and follow the instructions to retract the piston. This step is crucial to allow enough space to remove the old brake pads and install the new ones.
Step 4: Remove the Old Brake Pads
Once the caliper piston is retracted, carefully remove the brake pad retaining clips or pins. Slide out the old brake pads from the caliper bracket. Take note of any wear patterns or damage on the old pads and inspect the caliper and rotor for any signs of damage or wear.
Step 5: Install the New Brake Pads
Apply a thin layer of brake lubricant to the back of the new brake pads. Slide the new pads into place on the caliper bracket, ensuring they are properly aligned. Reinstall the brake pad retaining clips or pins to secure the pads in place.
Step 6: Reassemble and Test
With the new pads installed, carefully reposition the brake caliper over the pads. Make sure it sits flush against the bracket. Reinstall any retaining bolts or clips and tighten them securely. Repeat the process for the other rear wheel.
Step 7: Final Checks
Before lowering the car, double-check that all components are properly installed and tightened. Pump the brake pedal a few times to restore brake pressure. If necessary, top up the brake fluid reservoir with the appropriate type of brake fluid.
Step 8: Test Drive
Once everything is back together, take your Audi A7 for a test drive in a safe area. Start with gentle braking to bed in the new brake pads. Pay attention to any unusual noises or vibrations, which could indicate a problem that needs further attention.
