This guy was one of the most awesome artists of all time! I saw him with John Hiatt on Nashville's riverfront just a few months before he died. Great show.

I talked to Alan this year when he played with Trixie. I love the fact that he's still in the family business. He's a great bass player and a nice person. We met after the show in Frankfurt / Germany and had a little conversation and a beer backstage with the guys from the band.

Saw him at Lawlor (Reno) when he opened for Tom Petty, and twice after that. I was enchanted and mesmerized immediately.

I had the pleasure of seeing him live in a Vancouver club
Loved every second of it as much as I love the music / artistry/ pain / confusion / guitar mastery of his music. Shame there is no more

OH my heart still breaks when I hear/watch., he clearly was a soul not comfortable .. Very happy to say I had the privilege of seeing him Live in a Small Club; it was an AMAzing experience Very Sad He had to leave and I hope He has since met Amy Winehouse - if only we could hear it

+Bugzysmom You can take heart in one thing, Bugzys Mom; you are not alone any more in your love of this man's music. There is a huge online community dedicated to preserving his legend that seems to be completely condoned by his Estate, the most of all Trixie Whitley, an artist in her own right,

I posted the link to the film on Facebook. What about this person that made the film? Why did you laugh? What inside info do you have? I think this person posted a strange comment on Facebook, so I'm curious to know what you're referring to. Details, please!

Aliens from the Andromeda Galaxy land and ask, "What is this rock and roll of which you speak?"
To which I say: "Watch this Chris Whitley video. Then we'll talk."

..and what band is that..? Must be the mighty Louis Lepore riffing on second guitar - I've been tracking him out of the Gabe Rotollo clips of Get Wet at the Ritz (1980) and got as far as CW's Din of Ecstasy album (1995) - backtracked to this clip.. and it looks like the same guy - long tall smiler. Plays on the Get Wet album too. So who's that on bass & drums..?
