    As an Adirondacker with nearly 40 years of wilderness experience I can say you have made a very comprehensive video... even though you talk like a city boy. :)
    One item I would suggest is a roll or two of cloth athletic tape. One of the most common instigators of a survival situation is a sprained ankle. A roll of athletic tape can mean the difference between sitting on your ass praying for help and limping back to the land of food and beer.
    Athletic tape is pretty handy for a lot of other stuff as well. Any hockey player can tell you that, eh? But kidding aside, it serves as cordage if needed - it will bind a lean-to together pretty fast; it simplifies splinting a broken bone; I've even used it for makeshift gloves.
    Also, when using sheet materials for shelter, don't rely on the material to support itself. If you can, use a ridgepole. Next best is a cordage "clothesline" to support it. Use separate cordage to secure and tension it. You'll thank me when a strong wind comes up. Don't ask me how I know this...
    Be safe out there!

    A kit is as usefull as the owner. Train train and even more training is needed. It's one thing having the knowledge or equipment but someone whom says doesn't know how to use a compass or build a shelter, then it's an issue. Good kit.

    Good comments and suggestions. I really don't carry a fishing kit out here in the desert but I do have one in an Altoids tin if I am up north by streams and lakes. Water! Vitamins, Portable Food.

    good video, the cell phone may become useless as a means of communication but with an SD card it becomes invaluable as a source of info. You can download topo maps to your phone and 64 gb will hold quite a few. As well you can have a comprehensive medical guide, guidebooks for edible plants and a multitude of other sources of survival info. As long as you have a charging method you can always access the info on your phone.

    Great kit. I have the original Lenox tri-fold saw in aluminum in my kit. You can also get tree cutting pruning blades. I have pretty much the identical kit with a few odd changes for Canadian weather. Bus companies have free maps.

    I had a aluminum mess kit i cooked chili in it once than I did not have a mess kit. Acidic foods eats aluminum fast stainless steel or titanium is the only way to go. I would carry any container made out of aluminum.

    Titanium cookware uses less fuel and is faster to boil water than stainless. It's cause to wonder if you've ever used the cookware shown.

    Knowing what’s coming = compass won’t work. 99% of technology will be down. (Includes rechargeable batteries and LED flashlights) think old school. Hand or foot crank dynamo’s will operate = Analog power.
    Water above ground will be acidic (Baking soda will fix that) I recommend plastic tubing for getting to water below ground.
    There won’t be fish or plants and it’s going to get super hot + 350 F for the first week, best have air filtration because of particulates. Then the darkness = it will start to get cold I figure 2 weeks of scavenging, then it will be below freezing and remain that way (No sun) for approximately 3 years.
    Most people won’t survive the firestorm and returning ejecta. Costal cities, islands and boats will be wiped out. Large cities the high casualties will come from busted AC units producing phosgene gas (get compliant filters).

    I guess this is a decent preparedness kit. I would definitely NOT call it a survival kit though. Batteries do not do well in storage so you might want to get USB rechargeable versions of what you have as well as a solar power bank. That knife looks great but that saw....... Get a silky!!!! Also get at least a Fiskars hand axe and at least a shrade folding shovel.

    • @saber1able
      @saber1able Před 2 lety +2

      Funny when people comment without watching the video as though they know what they are talking about. He not only says he uses a Silky saw but also shows it in this video. Based on your comment, I would definitely NOT call you an expert as Fiskars and Schrade both make substandard tools. They are better than nothing, if they are all that you can afford.

    • @SkyBrigidRain
      @SkyBrigidRain Před 2 lety

      @@saber1able I did watch the video! I was referring to the kit's saw when suggesting the silky! That silky is NOT in this kit! And my fiskars axe and schrade shovel have both been through absolute hell and back! Quite far from substandard equipment!!! The shovel isn't a cold steel model, sure, but the fiskars axe is extremely solid and effective!
      What's in your pack??
