- Surabaya, Indonesia - or the city of heroes - is known for its role in Indonesia's independence and also the food. Indonesian food is so tasty, and traditional food in Java is worth a try. In this video, you see how the historical tour continues (remember we started in the first video in Surabaya? It's here: • Surabaya, INDONESIA: T... ). We visit Tugu Pahlawan (Heroes Monument), House of Sampoerna, and Hotel Majapahit, taking a lunch break at Tunjungan Plaza mall for a delicious nasi goreng and rawon. In the end, a surprising street food event near the hotel.
Surabaya is the second-largest city in Indonesia. It's located in Java island (East Java more precisely). The name Surabaya itself means shark and crocodile, referencing a centuries-old tale about a fight between a shark and a crocodile in the area where the city is located. 🦈🐊

Hi Renata, I'm from Johor Bahru, Malaysia. After watching this video I feel that Surabaya is a unique city to live in. Very clean, and safe, it's not as crowded as Jakarta, also has a lot of history. I can't wait to visit Surabaya in the future.

I always watched for twice and more. Everybody in Indonesia like you as a good history teacher. You have explained about the completely history on my Hero City perfectly. Wow.... and of course we all appreciate you Renata. I like this nice video very much. Well, Indonesia is so large with different cultures but we are all one. We have more than 717 languages and more than 1000 dialects. That's true Renata. We just speak1 national language that's Indonesian. Hopefully you can visit in my country again Renata. It's not enough to make a tour for 1 year in Indonesia, because it's very large you know. I saw you at Tunjungan street and you have enjoyed our traditional culiners with pleasure. I'm so glad and satisfied about you and your dear partner. By the way I've heard that TP will be built until TP10 and all are indoors. Now we have TP1,2,3,4,5,6 and TP7 is still on construction. Don't forget to visit our greatest Wonorejo and Gununganyar Mangrove at the east of Surabaya city. At the north of the mangrove you can see the Keputih Park. If you have time you can also see the longest elevator in Surabaya at the Ciputra World Mall. Don't forget to Bromo with the large sea sands lava 6000 ha. The first you must go by the hardtop jeep to Pananjakan hill before the sunrise is coming. Around there is also the Kingkong hill and the Lovely hill and then you can go further the crater of Bromo with the 250 steps until the top. And then the hardtop jeep bring you further to the whispering sands, lion rocks, savana fields and at last to the Teletubbies hill. It's better you go on the month of July to August because it's already the dry monsoon here. The weather is clear and cold for us. It will be on Bromo until 2 degree Celcius but sometimes if there is windy it will be until 0 degree Celsius. Maybe for you it's not so cold. About 12 after lunch you can go to the amazing Madakaripura waterfall (about 80 meters high) which lies at about 10 km distance from Bromo. Ok Renata you must be there soon.👍👍👍👍👍

You should visit Bandung next time! It's one of the most favorite cities to travel and have fun in Indonesia. The weather is much colder than Jakarta, Yogyakarta and Surabaya, so Gordon doesn't need to seek for the shade that often lol. It's famous for its delicious foods, arts, natural places, etc. You can walk around the city, and then visit some natural places in the regency area. The traffic can be quite upsetting, though, since it's very different with Jakarta and Surabaya, because Bandung is divided into 4 different areas - the city of Cimahi, West Bandung Regency, Bandung Regency and Bandung City. It's a big, big area.

@@RenataPereiraTV when it comes to Bandung, i think it's more popular with its natural tourism places. You can visit Lembang, which is located in West Bandung Regency and find a lot of tourism places there: Tangkuban Perahu, Gunung Putri, The Lodge Maribaya, etc.
In Bandung city, you can visit a lot of historical and unique places: Gedung Sate, Dago Pakar, Jalan Braga, Teras Cihampelas, Saung Angklung Udjo.
In Bandung regency, you can also find a lot of natural places to relax and have a breath of fresh air: Kawah Putih, Kawah Rengganis, Bukit Moko, etc.
As for Cimahi, i don't know much about this place because i've never really explored this place. I only went there to watch a movie.

And i remember as a kid, we secretly smoked Kretek.. :)) (Don't smoke, children !) We got them from the Indonesian tokos (stores) in Holland.
They crackle when you smoke them. I believe that's where the word kretek comes from.
