I just ordered the same system via eBay and it should be here by the 18th of this month. I am attempting to get my wife's 05 Mustang back in shape, after my son had an accident, but he is okay. I am updating some some things as I go about the repairs. Once all of this is done I will take it to my friend so he can refresh the paint. My wife is the only owner of this vehicle when she got in Jan 05. The video has helped me greatly.
I am not sure but did not Ford operate their oem radios with 5v? How did you solve that problem? I think in my Mustang there is a 5-12v generator for my pioneer radio. I was thinking of replacing that with an android headunit. Are the controls from the steering wheels working? That is an issue with my pioneer at the moment and one more point on my list why I want to upgrade.
Sounds like you have a premium model with steering wheel controls and the shaker amp. My car didn't have either, the kit did come with a module for steering wheel controls and an extra harness for your amp. I'm not sure if the amp harness matches the stock harness connector.
@@nicklldoit thanks for the quick response. Well I have the convertible GT California Special from 2008. I do have steering wheel controls but I have not seen the amp yet. There is no separate sub in the trunk. I think I have 6 Or 8 speakers. Depends on how the count is. 1 sub, 1 middle and 1 high speaker for each door and in the back 1 speaker on each site. Then it is 8. it is driving me nuts that the steering wheel controls are not working. My pioneer is a avh4200nex. It is nice but I tried to install a rear cam and it is not working too. My experience is, that the android devices are much more intuitive an user friendly. 🤷♂️
@@thomasd4464 @thomasd4464 sounds like you may have a play n play scenario for an Android system. Pioneer is actually my go to favorite, what is annoying is having to hook up the e-brake wire to access menu options. I do know you need a separate adapter to make the steering buttons work. As for the back camera, if it is hooked up correctly needs to be turned on in the unit settings.
Hey, I have the exact same headunit and followed all the same steps but when I plug in the black power cord from the adapter cables I get no power to the headunit. Any ideas?
I would jump the wires to see if you have a bad connection at the harness. Also check the fuse on the unit and car. If non work something maybe wrong with your unit.
Zero issues with my unit so far, it may be a internal issue with the head unit. As the radio should be triggered on by turning the car on. So when you turn off the car the radio stays on?
@@kristianpallone8726 I'm curious if the wires on the radios harness is switched around as power should only go on with the key is turn to ACC. Hoping someone chimes in if there is a solution, otherwise the supplier needs to provide a new system.
I cant find the fideo of tou removing the outlit and adding the adapter above the stereo. I have A 2006 mustang gt and was goong to add a sony head unit that has hdmi and wanted to add the hdmi port and a type c in its place
I had another person have the same issue, they couldn't figure it out either. They ended up getting the unit replaced and that worked. You can also check the fuse on the unit as well.
@@rum28 connect the canbus, let us know if it makes a difference. I've had zeros issues besides the outside panel lightning. I can't get that to work properly.
@@nicklldoit believe it or not the radio started working with the canbus plugged in! Now I’ve got to figure out the back up camera. I’m only getting a black screen when I put the car in reverse
I've had zero issues so far, still working the way it should. If I had any problems, it would be the lights for the commands on the left side. You can get to the settings for them and change colors or just turn on the lights for night time driving. They just don't work the way it should and I have to turn them off because they stay on, even when the car is off.

@@nicklldoit just got my mustaang but it already had some android auto radio in it and like sounds like they didn't use the factory amp integration there's like no bass coming out the shaker speakers at all

The two blue wire that is with the rear cam video RCA yellow plug is the BT and Wifi antenna.
Interesting, I can say my WiFi and Bluetooth works just fine.

Thomas you are correct, Mustang radios (FORD) use 12v to 5v converter on initial start up eliminating the loud “Thump” noise from the built in Amp

hi thank you for the video. i’ve been having trouble with the radio not shutting off and it drained my battery. did you have this problem as well?

I believe it does, someone in the comments said it worked for them. I have not seen it work though.
I followed your video step by step but my radio won’t power on. I’ve got a 2007 Mustang GT. Do I need to plug in the canbus maybe?
I had another person have the same issue, they couldn't figure it out either. They ended up getting the unit replaced and that worked. You can also check the fuse on the unit as well.
I checked radio fuse and on the control panel. The eBay seller says I need to connect the canbus

I'm not completely sure, it did have a harness for a stock amp. Not sure if it fits the stock harness on all Ford's.

@@dontedq definitely doesn't sound like they did, hopefully there is a harness to connect to. Without one it becomes difficult to wire up.
