MH is such a come down after flying Omanair (plane, seat comfort, catering, service) That certainly was my experience flying from NZ to Europe on an Omanair ticket last September. A real shame to see Malaysia's demise from a 5 star airline (and to think i rated them higher than SQ years ago because I truly thought that). The crew are still warm. The Auckland to KL leg can be such a lottery. You might get lucky and get a flight operated by their A350 (hint 27A is a great seat in scum class. Well, I like it) or you will be stuck in purgatory on their ex-AirBerlin, pensioner, A330-200s, contorted with your ankles near your ear lobes! I believe they've ordered A330-900s which would really up their competiveness. The A339 is a superb aircraft for passenger comfort. Better than the A359 or the 789 in my humble opinion.
I agree, this type of food that was served is now analogous to some economy class food now. There is no way that this food is comparable to say Starlux’s economy class which is way better than what's served here.
Good review. I had a broadly positive experience with MA last year. The long-haul product is very good and the short-haul's good too. But the airline cancelled a connecting flight and that makes me wary of trusting them again until they have fully recovered from the pandemic.
I always had very sub par experiences at the First Class dining room. Oh! There used to be a small self serve buffet at the main First lounge, misit be a victim of COVID. I've always found the catering to be heaps better in the business lounge. The so called premium economy seats in the A330 used to be business ... But they all got squashed together using less space with the Vantage shell seats. Last time I took this flight, it was a clapped out 737-800😅. Can't go wrong with MH Nasi Lemak, some of the best in the sky.
The 9am flight is always a A330, it's a clapped out 737 for the rest of the day. The A330 'proper business' experience to Bali makes for a decent value points redemption in my opinion.
KLIA is notorious for being an "traveller-unfriendly" airport. Other than the confusing signage you saw, the Aerotrain is broken all the time. You are lucky that you grasped a room in Sama Sama Hotel with a nice view. The room I stayed had no window at all as if it was a cell. Should give a thumb up to Malaysia Airlines who delivered warm Malaysian hospitality. It is also one of my favourite airlines.
surprisingly i found KLIA much tourist friendly than Changi. Never liked Changi other than the hospitality and friendliness of the custom officers, the total opposite for KLIA staff.

It's a shame that you never got to try MAS on long-haul flights. The food and portion sizes were great. Especially the satay. They might be cost-cutting right now considering how bankrupt the government is. It'll be interesting to watch your review of MAS on their long haul.
As a Former Employee of MH… The Staff is friendly but the service and facilities onboard needs to upgrade to the current situation with other Airlines. .. They announced they made profit, let’s give them a bit more time their routes were taken away, then came the Pandemic… I still give a thumbs up to their services.

Malaysian Airlines has really dropped their game. Alot of their fleet is run down and tired. Alot of their staff are also not as friendly and welcoming as they once were. I flew Melbourne KL recently return and it's was a terrible experience
After flying business and economy, my observation is the air steward and stewardess attitude in business class and economy class is like and night, and I'm referring to basic politeness and etiquette. - from a Malaysian
I flew Malaysian from Kota Kinabalu to KL business class 737 then KL to LHR on A350, was disappointed on the A350 as the so called flat bed couldn’t go flat as my legs were being pressed up against the IFE ( in flight entertainment system) Plus the seat wasn’t long enough for me to stretch out on ( I am 2.02m tall and well built) service on board was good but I did t get to try lounge at KL due to aero train not working and limited time between flights meaning it was a bit of a rush to clear security before boarding LHR flight
Great review but business class feels like over kill for such a short flight. The Malaysian Airlines staff are alway that good as well - stark contrast to Qantas.
Nothing wrong with Qantas staff. I would never fly Malaysian Airlines due to their poor safety record and I would always choose Qantas due to their unsurpassed safety record.

It is well known that many airlines had chosen to stop flying over eastern Ukraine because of the perceived risk from the ongoing conflict, prior to the downing of MH17. Malaysian clearly decided not to err on the side of caution.
I flew from Sydney to Milan using Malaysian and Oman there is no comparison between the airlines I would never fly Malaysian again lack of storage in business class and cramped seat - terrible experience.
The quality has been deteriorating. Fly with Malaysia Airlines Business Class late last year to Bali. Hospitality was there but quality was subpar compared to other Business Class. The food sucked, services was so and so, overall I was expecting more. The food was a big let down. I had better food with AirAsia even in Economy... 😂😂
Very disappointed to see the First Class Lounge facilities from Malaysian Airline given that KLIA is their home stable. It looks like a airport lounge from a 2nd tier airport. Sure they can to do better.
The lunch's 3 options are pathetic. The nasi lemak never look appetising at all, it looks more like a economy class lunch. Nasi lemak for business class could certainly do better than that. Anyway, the F&B for MH is not impressive at all.
