    I start EMT school next month. It’s definitely intimidating since there’s SO much knowledge to learn but I’m so excited to be in this field.

      So excited for you! I know all the information can seem overwhelming, just try to stay on top of your assignments & make sure you are consistently reviewing content.

      As someone on the back end of EMT (course work completed with clinical only left) it is definitely intimidating. Consistency is KEY and keep at it every day learning little by little. In the end it all makes sense and the confidence is priceless! You got this! Push through any doubts or struggles.

      @@hookedonthebay3890 I’m going to register for EMT program and extremely scared. I have ADHD and text anxiety so idk how I’ll do it. Is it hard? The exam or course ?

      @hookedonthebay3890 Pƙed rokem +5

      @Jit Ami Don't let your adhd and test anxiety keep you from doing it!!! Are you going to do it in person or online? I would recommend doing the course in person because I did mine online and that made it harder, especially when I had to go in for skills days. In-class you will be just fine!!! You'll be so glad you did it. Good luck!

    • @hookedonthebay3890
      @hookedonthebay3890 Pƙed rokem +5

      @Jit Ami The course is not hard. My only piece of advice to you is 1. Take your time and don't fly through it 2. Pay extra close attention to your skills, especially medical and trauma patient assessment. The other skills (bvm apneic patient, cpr, bleeding control, spinal immobilization, oxygen tank/ nonrebreather mask) are easy and I learned in 1 day. But focus on patient assessment. As far as the NREMT test it will depend on your knowledge in the course work. It's easy if you apply yourself, again you can totally do it!

    I'm on my first clinical right now! At my school we have to get 48 hours and 10 patient contacts.
    At our main ambulance station in my super busy tourist town. It's gone good so far, but I'm still being put kinda in observe mode and haven't had my own patient contacts yet... so... still nervous about that but everything else I was worried about isn't even an issue. I got myself worried and nervous over nothing! My clinicals are due in just 10 days, and then the big test for my license!!!! I can't believe I've almost made it through, and stuck with it. I'm so proud, and proud of everyone else on here that's passed or is in the process as well! We CAN do it you guys

    i remember my time in EMT school as well as my clinical and ride time and it's been 4 years. I did my ride time on a Fire Ambulance and it was cool to see the fire side of EMS. Honestly it was fun in school. Granted i'm here doing the job now as an EMT | Security Officer and i'm having fun but nothing beats where you get your first few calls in the ambulance nd you get to use the skills you just learned.

    for your first call it depends on what type of crew you’re riding with. since you had a both a EMT and a Paramedic it’s a good idea to kinda follow both. because as a EMT you’re going to be assisting the Paramedic half the time. other times it’s good to follow the paramedic because they would be doing most of the vitals and everything if not they would leave it up to the EMT. it also depends on what state you’re in. like I’m currently a Emergency Medical Responder in New Jersey and I’m planning on going back to EMT school eventually. but in New Jersey our BLS and ALS are separate meaning that any BLS ambulance is operating stand alone, fire based, hospital, county or private. ALS/Paramedics only operate out of hospital based EMS agencies and will usually meet us at the scene of a call or depending on the severity of the patient we can meet them while en route to the hospital.

    Many thanks for this video. It's really interesting to see clinical placements through the eyes of a student. I'm an Australian paramedic and I often have student paramedics doing their clinical placements in the second half of their third year. All of them are studying paramedicine at a university; EMT level is technically not legal here as having a Paramedic degree is the minimum requirement for working on emergency ambulances. A year down the track, how is your career progressing? Been doing this for 26 years, and just when you think you've seen and done it all, a patient will test that thought. Stay safe out there.

      It depends in indiana we have a career center thing in your senior year and it goes something along the lines of as long as your turning 18 the year you take the nremt or something you can take the class and the test, so you can certainly do your clinicals at 17 but I'm not so sure you can actually become an EMT until after
