I’m not the biggest Trump fan. But now I fear if he doesn’t win, it will set the precedent that this “law fair”, is acceptable. 4 more years of Trump is by far better than living in a country of one party rule, that accepts the arrest of political opponents who are a threat to there status quo.

I think the conviction probably helps Trump because people see how absurd and nakedly political the prosecution was.
The only people celebrating the conviction were already voting for ol' honest Uncle Grandpa Scranton Joe anyway.
It also casts doubt on all of the other, admittedly stronger, cases coming before the election.
I think it can be spun, but I think Trump gets the most benefit from the cases going forward but not actually resulting in convictions---that's the best of both worlds scenario that Trump's legal team have been trying to get for him to this point. You still get the optics of persecution if all these trials end with acquittals, but with convictions, you get the optics but also the pragmatic hassle of your candidate being a convicted felon, and in the election fraud case you may have to deal with a prison sentence. So its better to just have the optics without the results of conviction.

The people who like him will vote for him no matter what he has done or is convicted for.
The people who would never vote for him aren't going to no matter what he does or is convicted for.

I think Trump committed the crime but the timing and severity of charges are way off.
Out of curiosity, what crime do you think he committed? The main "crime" of falsification of business records requires a predicate crime. There is also the question of what was false about the business records. It was clearly a legal expense, even if it were entirely for the NDA,. an NDA is a legal expense. Cohen was clearly on retainer as he was doing work for Trump on various things that year as a lawyer and a retainer doesn't need to be formally written to be executed. As far as the predicate crime, they said NY election law, but that wouldn't have standing for a federal election, plus it requires that "illegal means" are used to influence the election. What were the "illegal means"? Were they FECA violation (absolutely not, because this type of NDA doesn't apply for that kind of thing, this has been tried before and always resulted in innocent findings), falsification of other business records (what other business records, none were alleged), or violation of state tax law (what codes, none were stated).
@@isheplatinum1218No one who has ever seen a legal bill could possibly consider the Cohen illegal campaign contribution as a legal expense. There were two attorneys on the jury so that argument had no chance. As with Watergate, the cover up of the crime turned out to be more problematic for the President.

That’s why we are questioning. Personally, I have listened to some podcasts from for example value entertainment. Those are very inspiring. The benchmark is high.
