      @@tuckerbmx it’s not hard to rejet stock carb. But the lectron is the bees knees. You never have to mess with it. You can ride from Canada to pikes peak and down to the gulf coast. And not have any issues. Plus it gives more power.

    Wow! this is one of the best tutorials I have watched on DRZ mods. Excellent explanations and instructions as well as filming(in HD) and editing. I plan on doing these exact mods except I plan to cut down the FMF powercore about 6" just for looks, but I doubt that will effect the jetting. Thanks for making an awesome tutorial!

I'm ready to drop it off at a shop.

    • @GladiusJon
      @GladiusJon  Před 7 lety

      Thats a great question. I would start off with the 160, and the Blue needle in the 4th position. . The issue i see tho, is with the stock exhaust. Your corking the Air Flow. Being your allowing a ton of air in (3x3) and A ton of fuel in (160 main). But your corked coming out. (Exhaust). Once you install, test and see if your running rich or lean. You can Remove the Air Box door once the bike is fully up to temp. If It runs better, your too Rich (Drop to a 155 Main). If it runs Worse, you may have it just right, or too lean. Run the Test Under Wide Open Throttle. For Further Tuning Search "AirBox Door Test" on Thumper talk.

      Gladius Jon Thanks for the reply. Maybe I'll just wait until I upgrade the exhaust, I plan on getting the mrd exhaust. I'll just do all of it at the same time.

      I ended up jetting my drz this past weekend, and holy crap what a difference it made. So much smoother accelerating and the throttle response is nice. It is a lot louder too because of the more open intake. The only problem I had was with one of the JIS screws stripping, and I even had a JIS screwdriver!! I had to rotate the carb the other way (it was one of the back screws) and use a dremel to grind a groove into the head to use a flathead screwdriver. I still have the stock exhaust, the JD jet kit said to just go with the 155 main, blue needle on the 3rd from top groove, and it runs great!

    Hey Jon, did you use that huge aluminum spacer when you mounted the muffler to the rear mount? I used the stepped aluminum spacer, but I couldn't make that one fit in between the muffler strap bracket and the rear mount point. I have the same model year and just installed the same exhaust!

    • @GladiusJon
      @GladiusJon  Před 7 lety

      What I did was I took the Rubber Bushing out. Installed the Stepped Aluminum Washer Through the Inner Side of the Mounting Hole. (Fender well). Skinny Side through Hole. And Used The Long Bolt with a few washers.

    Thank you for the video, but I'm having trouble shifting the carb around. Did you loosen both hose clamps on the front of the carb or just the front and back ones on the left side? My throttle cables have barely any give and I can't get the carb anywhere tilted enough to remove the JIS screws.

    • @GladiusJon
      @GladiusJon  Před 7 lety +1

      Just the Front and back one, Not the One closest to the engine. Have you loosen the Zip tie that holds the cables to the frame?

      Did not have one from factory in 2017. Suzuki added it on in 19 or 20 for euro 5 emissions.

    got the tkc 80s on my drz400sm along with fmf powercore slip on exhaust will be getting header as well . like a hiccup almost backfire on release of throttle is that a jetting issue ?

    • @GladiusJon
      @GladiusJon  Před 7 lety

      Thats the Stock carbs Emissions junk. Even if you do a jet kit, it will still pop on deceleration. FCR39 takes care of that tho.

    I was waiting getting my cart ready for checkout but noticed that amazons (check fit) for the powercore 4 and powerbomb header on the DRZ says “ this item will NOT fit my 2015 Drz400sm. The amazon page alone it says will fit Up to 2019. I’m a little confused....
    Is it simply because it’s a S model and not an sm model? I want to support your channel but I need some clarification before I checkout.
    Very informative video! Thank you for taking the time and making it.

      MrLink129 yeah that was some serious offroading on street tires. I wipe out every time I go in the mud or grass on street tires. Luckily theres no damage to the bike most of the time.

    Question!!! I got the Jet kit, and complete exhaust system. Since my bike was brand new the dealer wouldn't do the 3X3 mod. I didn't feel comfortable doing it till the " Break in " period was done. NOW SHES DONE!!! BOO YAH. My question is, I pulled the snorkel out of the air box, does the 3X3 make that much more of a difference?
    Thanks again.

    • @GladiusJon

    By Doing the 3 by 3 mod does the DRZ consume more fuel now? Get lower milage? Thanks Mate

    • @roostinrooster5776
      @roostinrooster5776 Před 5 lety

      Actually it only slightly affected fuel milage at a steady pace.
      The barely noticable decrease was from giving more fuel to those extra ponies there near the power curves.
