- We are doing a MASSIVE makeover on my daughter Ziya's playroom. My vision is to update it a little and make it more suitable for a growing child. This is going to be a fun and creative space, with room to relax, watch TV, do homework, work on crafts, and of course, play! But first we have to declutter by getting rid of a bunch of unused toys and craft projects organize everything so that it will be easy to her to find stuff, and make a plan for the rest of the room.

You definitely need a desk for her to do homework and arts and crafts on the wall where the chalkboard is
She does all her crafts and homework downstairs at the kitchen counter with me, she's not to the point where she's independently doing those things by herself in a separate room yet. Just based on how we do things right now, a desk in the playroom would never get used but it would be taking up a bunch of space that she needs for playing. But I'm already planning a phase 2 of this makeover when she's ready to get rid of the playhouse, that will include a full size desk and everything basically replacing the playhouse!

Perhaps you could Include a larger desk with storage for arts and crafts? It could make sense to have that near the chalk board and it would be something she could use years to come even for homework when she’s older

Watching this video brings back some serious memories for me of when my kids were younger and how many times my hubby and I tried to reconfigure their playroom. It’s a constant battle to workout what organisational aspects work. Having really good storage is a must. Also, just going through the kids toys every few months and culling them definitely helps too. Only keeping the main toys helps with needing less storage and avoids extra mess.

I don't think here's anything embarrassing about children fully expressing themselves and feeling mentally happy in their playroom. I think your daughter is being mentally stimulated and developing in a designated part of the house where she feels safe to explore ideas. I think that is wonderful. The play room looks lived in and it looks lovely.

I’m literally impressed to see how Zya actually plays in her room. I was like her I don’t want to get rid of anything and still to this day I have some of my Barbie dolls and papers from elementary. So I understand how she feels with parting from her stuff.❤

I think a little memorable thing for ziya to have would be having a bin to keep her little milestones thingies in. Just a sentimental little box like you already have. Like how she was clingy towards that toy for her Spanish class or smg. Just a suggestion no backlash or judging you or your way of parenting her.
That lowkey made me sad she made her throw it away. I still have memorable things from my childhood that wasn’t thrown away.

Watching this is the exact reason why I try to convince my family to buy the kids experiences rather than stuff! Yes it is nice for kids to have little projects or arts and crafts but at the end of the day a lot of it ends up in the trash and constantly having to clear it is a lot of the kids to detach and parents to monitor

@@kandi6197she states multiple times she is keeping in mind what Ziya likes but I’m sure if it was up to her the room would be all pink with Barbie’s and dolls decorated everywhere and as that is only good for now and not practical for when she’s older and it saves redecorating it all again. So she’s not just doing her own thing and not letting ziya decide, she’s thinking out the box.

Play and play hard! We used to play with all the toys and dolls! I remember how hard it was to convince my friends to help me clean up! 😅 My moms rule was play with one thing at a time. Put away before you take out a new activity.
