    I was on booktube a few years ago and did not feel a part of a community but that's because I didn't put myself out there to connect with people. Since I've started this channel, I feel so much more a part of this community. There's room for anyone here, you will find your audience even if you don't grow rapidly you will find YOUR people. Please join and reach out your hand, you will find so many great people. ❤

    This was so much fun! I love hearing all the hot takes. I do agree that the bookish community has been incredibly helpful and supportive. Being a content creator myself, seeing all the wonderful comments means everything to me. I love being a part of this community so much.

    I can’t believe anyone would leave a negative comment on your channel! Just from this video alone, you’re welcoming to the community and validating other opinions even if you disagree. The voice can take a longer time to recover than the rest of the body (frustrating-I know!), and I can tell yours is coming back! Cheers!

    I was on booktube many, many, many years ago, before it was even a real thing. My channel is loooong gone now. There wasn’t many of us but the community back then was incredibly different. We all communicated, we were able to do the old school video responses where it was linked in the videos. When the walking dead first started we met every week on a live to discuss the show, we honestly were a tight bunch. Watching how that community has changed and evolved has been eye opening. Most of us started a book channel because we were book bloggers and we started doing the ‘infamous’ what’s in your mailbox videos every week, that was started by the story siren (wow the drama with her if anyone remembers that). Romance wasn’t the hot ticket back then and it’s been so wonderful to see how romance has grown on CZcams. In my day LOL we didn’t have book boxes and special editions, I’ve honestly had to learn a whole new lingo to follow along with you guys 😂 I do agree boxes are everywhere, merch is everywhere and while it can be tiring it’s the nature of the beast. Making friends on CZcams through books was an incredible thing for me back then, I really hope anyone who wants to start a channel won’t feel put off by booktube now.
    Just a quick comment about reviews, I have lately had to skip through people talking about the books they read during wraps ups etc because I am being told too much, I actually feel I don’t even need to read the book. I don’t particularly enjoy being told more than a slightly more exaggerated book blurb and I don’t need to see a million little arrows spiralling off a book cover on IG either.

    I give props to Fourth Wing and Iron Flame which I feel is pretty original title and incorporated with the story which rocks👏👏👏👏

    Great video. Thank you for your deep dive. I haven't been a booktuber for very long. I'm still trying to figure it all out, but so far everyone has seemed really nice.

    I love how you kept reiterating that liking books is subjective. So true!! I agree with avoiding a lot of reviews bc they contain too many mini spoilers- ugh! Once I’ve read about a mini spoiler I just focus on that the entire time I’m reading and it takes away from the whole experience. I’m so sorry you’re getting any kind of negative comments! That makes no sense- you’re the Best! 🎉❤

      I totally agree with your comment. I’m the same, being a mood reader really helps me read pretty much all 3 1/2-5 star books. Definitely believe in dnfing a book I’m not enjoying

    I always try to be honest with my book reviews. If I don’t like a book I see that but I try to be nice about it also, I tried to give my reasons why it didn’t work for me, I think the book tube community can be very welcoming. It’s just putting yourself out there and messaging people..

    I couldn’t agree more about the naming in fantasy romance, especially as someone with a terrible memory. I feel like Jennifer Armentrout is starting to purposefully confuse us 😁

    Oh man that last hot take! Truth. It's assumed if you read that means you read like women's fiction or whatever and if you don't then you're not really reading. Reading is reading! Why does my 600 page dark romance mean any less than a 200 page fiction novel? Make it make sense. I read because it makes me happy. Don't yuck my yum. 😂

    That’s why I totally skip over books with swords, dragons, knights, etc on the covers. Of course they can be different but the book covers all look the same. I go for the covers with different looks then I read what they are about. 😉

    I'm guilty of buying into the SE's and book boxes. It gets to be too much though when authors are all about their SE's and not their upcoming releases. For instance, one author I love is releasing a new book this month and it's been *crickets*. Barely any promo or excitement over it. Everything I see is about past SE's and exclusive editions with events and PR boxes.

    @MayaSPL Před 4 měsíci +1

    The for fans of blablabla, it's actually funny you say that. Usually when doing a query, these are things you mention when sending your book in so it's probably an insert from that. I guess the most obvious choice is indeed a popular or known author, to get picked up as an author.

    Every time I read an enemies to lovers book I compare it to Brutal Prince, not the plot or the writings but the hate. I mean, she tries to kill him level of hate. That's my standard when measuring hate on the trope... despise to lovers, yeah sure, opposites attract, ok, competitors to lovers, sounds fine too... just DON'T CALL IT ENEMIES TO LOVERS IF THEY DON'T REALLY HATE EACH OTHER!!!!!!!
    Nah, now for real, my hot take, what I find really really REALLY annoying and frustrating is... the lack of diversity in accepting creators and readers outside America. And I mean this in two aspects. When you're not American or Canadian, you are kind of overlooked, you don't exist, you don't count. Everything is thought for the American public. I don't mean content creators, youtubers and bookstagrammers are welcoming. The industry isn't, the publishers aren't, the writers... most of them ignore us. For example: bonus chapters... you know this recent trend of releasing the same book (say the latest SJM) with different bonus chapters that you can only buy at, here's the thing, TARGET, BARNES AND NOBLE, WALMART... see? you can't find any of those outside America. I know it is hard enough for you guys to get a copy from each one of them in order to get all the bonuses of a book, but for us it is impossible to get one, just the one, you have to pray that someone will scan said bonuses and then download them in some dubious page. Also, giveaways, ARCs (even kindle arcs)... they all are being subjected to geopolitical limits, worse than that, it doesn't matter that you are bilingual, if your location indicates a country whose language isn't English... good bye, thank you for the fish. But they are more than willing to get our money when we buy their books through Amazon, Blackwell's (similar to Bookdepository but much better), etc. So yep, the exclusion of the exclusivity, that's my real hot take. Thank you for reading my TEDx talk
    Love you, please take care of your voiceeeeee

    i think when you are on the outside, it always seems more cliquey than it really is. of course you have core groups but most people ive reached out to have been so welcoming.
