What a beauty! I had a very basic 69 Fury I, that had the same roofline and glass, right down to the vent windows. But mine was a former Montana Highway Patrol Car. With a honking 440/4 brl dual exhaust Super Commando engine, with HD everything, including a huge rear ended with huge drum brakes in rear with big disks in front, with 15” steel wheels I added four huge Firestone Town&Country snow tires all around for the winter in Colorado! That car was amazing in the mountains on pavement and dirt! dukes of Hazard had nothing on us! I’m not sure of the rear end ratio, but I know it had posi! Very plain interior but with power windows and locks! AC AM radio. Also a certified 140 mph speedometer I’m sure you could bury! I had it up to 125 mph, at just 4,200 rpm, with the engine rated at 370 hp at 4,800!
owned a '69 Imperial from '75 to '78 & it was an awesome ride. Lived in Muskoka with lots of snow & salted rd's so we didn't drive it in winter. Parked it in our driveway with battery removed & each Spring the big block V-8 fired up no problem. It's likely still being driven on sunny days as I sold it to an enthusiast who was "keeping it forever".
Wow - that two tone really works on this Imperial. At first I thought the upper color was black until close up revealed a rich dark brown, great color choices.
You might call it a Chrysler Imperial after 1968 when they resumed sharing the basic body structure. But Chrysler still promoted the fantasy that it was a separate line like Cadillac and Lincoln. They phased in “Imperial by Chrysler” badging from 1971-73 but officially it remained an “Imperial”. Some 81-83 Imperials were raced at NASCAR races and there’s a great 1970-ish Imperial in the movie “Charlie Varrick”
That's Gangster. Thats an unusual 2- tone colour choice, but I personally think it works . I love these big land yachts. I'm from Melbourne,Australia. I couldn't believe the owner is only asking $10k.?!!! Sold !!!
I like the 69-70 best as it has beautiful rear full chrome fins like Cadillac. And I’m not a Chrysler fan but GM. But this car stands out and I hope a few dozen have been preserved well!
Not too sure on the brown headrests, but I do like it better than the 71-73 on the whole... Nice car. Has the sequential taillights... Edit AND this car appears to be loaded with options even electric vent glass. Nice!
I had a 1969 Imperial with every option available. It was okay if you had a heavy foot on the gas pedal but, as far as ride comfort, Cadillac and Lincoln did it better. At 110 MPH, the car was rock steady and well-mannered. I liked the torsion bars up front but, Chrysler should have gotten rid of the clunky leaf springs years earlier. Also, the controls on the instrument panel felt cheap. Some were wobbly and some just had sharp edges that felt uncomfortable to use.
Best car I ever owned was a 72 Chrysler imperial with a 318. Perfect ride. Decent gas mileage and complete reliability. Probably still be driving it if that idiot hadn't ran a stop sign.
Actually, It's good that it's there as it shows how much BETTER the Imperial looks. And the Imperial's BUMPERS probably have more metal than the ENTIRE Honda!
Crown was available as a 4dr ht, 2dr ht and as a 4dr sedan, though the sedan is the second rarest of them with only 832 built. Crown had the big rear window as well as only cloth/vinyl bench seats with no option. The standard seats for LeBaron consist of cloth and leather with the bolsters and seat backs made of vinyl. Also only LeBaron offered a divided front bench and the (2dr ht) optional buckets whereas the standard seat was of split back bench type. Crown only offered the split back bench in every body style.
Yep, From 1955 thru 1975 Imperial was a seperate "make". To call it a "Chrysler Imperial" is like saying a 1970 Sedan De Ville is a "Buick Cadillac". But, I long ago gave up trying to explain this to people under the age of 50.
My ex had a 1972 Imperial (same car with "trim" updates) in the 80's (It was about as roomy as our apartment, LOL!). For as big as they are, they handled well. Drive a 72 Imperial VS a 75 Lincoln Continental as a comparison. (I had one, so I'm being fair here) Both cars rode exceptionally smooth, But you felt like you were DRIVING the Imperial, But you were merely MAKING SUGESSTIONS to the Lincoln! 😜
@@ArizonaRVHomestead Nice Car. The 1957-1966 Imperials were practically hand built, Being the only "coach built" US Luxury car after WWII, As close to a "modern" US Rolls Royce as one could get! 👍😊👍
57-63 covers the exner period and 64 through 66 is the Elwood Engel box period. I don't know who styled the 67 and 68 boxes but 69 thru 73 equates to the airfoil fuselage look of the airplane so i guess this is a 747?
If only Detroit had designers that could shrink their gorgeous 60's designs - but they just made tin boxes...and Euro and Japanese cars took the market.
We wouldn't say "...a 1969 GM Cadillac." Though a Chrysler corp. division, Imperial was a separate, independent line from 1955 to 75. This is a *1969 Imperial.*
stop calling these cars “Chrysler Imperials” it’s an Imperial LeBaron - Imperial Crown was also offered.. both Imperial models were manufactured by the Chrysler Corporation as were all Dodge, Plymouth and Chrysler models.
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they even want to slow down all the gas pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime. Called Abgasbespaßungsverordnung in German.... :-(
@@megatronusorionpax4900 Biggest problem is China, China told our EU politicians that they wont do any business with underdeveloped countries that still allow CO2 emitting traffic or industry after 2030...I am sure USA and UK also will be forced by China to 100% electric traffic because today no industrialized country can afford sanctions by China....:-( China also banned all kind of synthetic fuels or hydrogen combustion. Because these are not energy efficient)
The colour on this car is absolutely magnificent it completely makes it
Awesome two tone colour combination! Fits perfectly the lines of the 1969 Imperial.
Never saw a two tone Imperial LEBARON. This is truly an Incomparable Imperial, 👑
1968-72 Imperial. As a kid, I thought this was the best looking car ever. 'Nuff said.
Imperial was an amazing luxury cars. Many innovations surfaced on this car. AWESOME MASTERPIECE.

I have read that Imperial could reach 130 miles per hour. Impressive for a land yacht.
Beautiful, especially the two-tone paint combination.

that dark brown was popular on mid-80's GM cars. I had an '86 Pontiac Pariesien Brougham that color with lot's of chrome & it was a looker.
I never knew a sedan version of this giant car exist.

The only year with the shark Gill front side marker lights, looks great at night. My father had one, it was very impressive.
My brother's high school body had a turquoise one he drove to school with a "Mafia Hit Car" license plate up front.

Having the Honda in the video does the Imperial a disservice.

Agreed, it's either a LeBaron or a Crown. Did the Crown have the pillar?

The purest of the fuselage Imps and the only year the cornering lights were the 3-lens 'shark gills.'

Just realized this videos 4 years old. What a shame I'd love to own this if it's as good as it looks!
Last of the pre-gas crisis land yachts. It got about 3 gallons to the mile.
I wonder if it has the original anchor..... and docking bumpers.... lol 😆
