    Of course, what swing thought works one day may not the next, but . . . . I watched this video last Thursday, the night before I played my weekly Friday afternoon match. Friday I used one swing thought: Get my trail shoulder higher than my lead shoulder on the backswing. Didn't focus much on turn itself; just focused mainly on getting that trail shoulder in the right spot. I hit 13 of 14 fairways, which means for me that I was inside the trees on 13 of 14 fairways. I stayed centered on my backswing and was unbelievably consistent. I have never done that before. Thanks for the thought!

    Flat back swing was the bain of my golfing life for many years, a hard habit to break, took a lot of practice to erase it finally. Still even years later flat back swing creaps back occasionally.

    This is my golf career! First lesson I got 20 years ago I was taught to turn my right shoulder back as far as I could. Could shoot a 75 one day and 85 the next mostly due to timing issues and contact. This is a gem and a pro just told me the same thing last week. Hoping to work this into my back swing as it feels very unfamiliar to start. Your stuff is outstanding!

    Great, easy to understand video! This explains my inconsistent golf swing. I'll be practicing this swing at home and at the range now. Thanks Coach!

    Great video! The flat turn is the bane of my golfing life! Eric what handicap were you back in the day when you strived for more consistency ?

      Hey Terry!
      I started playing regularly in 8th grade and shot in the low 40s for 9 holes
      9th grade 77-80
      10th grade 74-78
      11th grade 72-77
      12th grade 68-75
      So I would say during those phases of improvement was when this was a bit thing for me....
      but even then.....I could get the ball in the hole but my ball pattern and contact was inconsistent....is was from 18-28 the decade after where I really started to understand the important of tilt.....my scores are still in the same 68-75 range typically but the contact and direction is SO MUCH more consistent and better.

      I got down to 10hc in 2000 but stopped playing due to work commitments abroad. Started again in 2022 (62 yrs old) now a struggling 14hc, same course. Thank god for hybrids. Those GC trees have grown a lot😃!

    Yep, I've always done the same thing, i.e., rotating my shoulders around flat, which leads to all manner of problems. That makes it pretty much impossible to swing "inside, out".

  • @rossmasters3281
    @rossmasters3281 Před 9 dny +1

    Should the shoulders in the downswing bring the club down? I feel like when I try to reverse the tilt I had in the backswing I come over the top.

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  Před 9 dny

      Hey Ross!
      Yes the right shoulder starts to work DOWN and FORWARD as the left shoulder works UP and BACK
      The ARMS should stay IN as you do this.
      The shoulders need to stay 45* wish closed to start the downswing at left arm parallel TO keep the arms in

    I have learned about side band from you in previous videos. You don't discuss it here, in those terms. "Side bend back, side bend through" is a pretty good swing thought for me.

    I get the move on the backswing but what about the rest of it on the downswing and where should the arms and club be? I think I do the turn and tilt correctly on the backswing but my shoulders make a level move on the downswing.

    So say you were overweight with a big ol' belly.. would you recommend getting more over the ball to be able to get shoulders less parallel? Asking for a friend 😂😅😞

    • @PerformanceGolfZone
      @PerformanceGolfZone  Před 20 dny +1

      Hey Ryan! Haha MAYBE it depends some on length of arms/legs etc....I would get with a good coach to work through it with in person or online to help!

    C"mon guys . Rope drill Old news Mike Austin. Horizontal flat swing . LOL Your bent over 30 degrees , it's a tilt and a turn. again Old News Mike Austin. Another thing wrong , is ones head should be moving on the back swing to be looking at the ball from a peripheral view . Other wise over 95 percent of golfers are ball bound and don't get the chest to turn, causing the arms to
    lift on the backswing . So many teachers are lost on CZcams . Cheers Mates .
