Swap the ECU position. Then see what happens after you clear the codes. They don't care which position they are in- have the same software on them, just perform differently because the physical wires are in different locations. The W12 is the same, and I resolved an issue on a W12 car by swapping the ECU.

Such a common problem on "tuned" R8s. The ecus have to be opened to be tuned. The sealant used to reseal them fails in about 2 years. If the stock covers are not put back over the ecus, or even with them.... Little moisture in the bay from a car wash or rainy day and poof goes the ecu. New ecu is 2300, recovery and refresh is about 800. Just put it back to stock. Not worth the small gains.

I’m sure you have many resources for ECM‘s. But Sam Krack did an excellent video on his mismatched Ferrari ECM’s. And the specific shop he sent them to to get re-programmed so they matched. It would be a shame not to get that Audi on the road

VAG.. The gift that keeps on taking.. I bought one.. It was fine.. I spent lots to get all the maintenance up to scratch.. Battery.. Alternator.. AC compressor.. Timing belt.. Water pump accessory belt. Oil filter. Air filter fuel filter.. And good quality correct spec oil..
Drove it for 4 months.. Sold it to a friend.. 3 days later.. Intermittent not starting.. Tons of fault codes.. Cam sensor.. Injectors.. Oxygen sensor.. So obviously a ground or power feed issue.. All grounds checked and good.. Power feed checked and good...

Get the programming from the corroded ecu on R8 and try swapping it to the other one using ecu pinning equipment. Shout from e36 community!!! swartz metallic is one of my favorite colors. The gauge is rebuildable, consider meyle HD suspension components they are heavy duty upgraded OE and feel smooth as butter for joints and control arms are painted with preinstalled hd bushings too. Check cyclone pcv for clogs and leaks, metal water pump upgrade will make it reliable if it isn't already, and aluminum thermostat housing. I'd pull and lubricate window regulators, check motors for corrosion. The reason they seize is your exterior door handle gaskets, buy handle covers + gaskets thank me later when they break upon removal unless it's been done before or you get lucky with heat. Highly recommend ceramic spray or quick wax when removing also they have a tentancy to slide against paint. that paint is not easy to fix and is looks amazing.

Wow! No babying or pampering this six-figure Super Bird for you, lol... Glad to hear that you're mindful of restoring the value of your Porsche by re-installing the targa top (though I definitely prefer the convertible). No matter how much money you're making, there's not that much dumb in the world than to *NOT* restore the vehicle to its original condition if it will ensure that you don't completely lose your shirt on the deal (also, you're newly minted celebrity status may further ensure that you get your money because you'll probably make a video about the process of *re-targa-ing* the Porsche).

One could also send the R8 ECU ´s to a ECU refurbischer who also installs the original software. The problem with a bad tuning is that the engine combusts to hot. Before investing more money, i would check the combustion chamber with a endoscope. If the inside is pale white, the parts have been overheated and are brittle.
