Heard this Yesterday as I Arrived @ the Festival of Trees. Dedicating this One to the Volunteers. The Ones who Gave their Hearts to Help the Kids & Adults. In Need. Psalm 30:11-12 (NIV) 11 You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, 12 that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever. +
First time to hear this song and I like it! Here are the lyrics: It was not a silent night There was blood on the ground You could hear a woman cry In the alleyways that night On the streets of David's town And the stable was not clean And the cobblestones were cold And little Mary full of grace With the tears upon her face Had no mother's hand to hold It was a labor of pain It was a cold sky above But for the girl on the ground in the dark With every beat of her beautiful heart It was a labor of love Noble Joseph at her side Callused hands and weary eyes There were no midwives to be found On the streets of David's town In the middle of the night So he held her and he prayed Shafts of moonlight on his face For the baby in her womb He was the maker of the moon He was the author of the faith That could make the mountains move It was a labor of pain It was a cold sky above But for the girl on the ground in the dark With every beat of her beautiful heart It was a labor of love For little Mary full of grace With the tears upon her face It was a labor of love It was not a silent night On the streets of David's town
Point of Grace did their usual great job picking music to perform. This one by Andrew Peterson is a beauty. Seems like every time I listen a new lyric jumps out and grabs me by the heart.
Played this at church tonight for our Christmas eve service. That was the first time I'd ever heard it. It was beautiful. I kept getting distracted at the lyrics, and almost messed up the guitar multiple times due to it, lol.
Hello :) I am singing this song with my mom and sister for my church's Christmas play this year, and I was wanting to play the guitar. Do you have the chords by any chance? :)
if you like this song at all, you owe it to yourself to hear the original version by andrew peterson. (sung by the amazing jill phillips). it is from his album :behold the lamb of god" and it is one of the most amazing albums i have ever heard.
When I'm ever asked who I think had the greatest faith in Scripture, my answer is always Mary (no, I'm not Catholic). This is a beautiful and worshipful song.
My favorite cover of this is by the Lindsey Family. I first heard this off the cd I bought titled Behold The Lamb Of God by Andrew Peterson. Jill Phillips was the first to sing it. Beautifull song.

First time to hear this song and I like it! Here are the lyrics:
It was not a silent night
There was blood on the ground
You could hear a woman cry
In the alleyways that night
On the streets of David's town
And the stable was not clean
And the cobblestones were cold
And little Mary full of grace
With the tears upon her face
Had no mother's hand to hold
It was a labor of pain
It was a cold sky above
But for the girl on the ground in the dark
With every beat of her beautiful heart
It was a labor of love
Noble Joseph at her side
Callused hands and weary eyes
There were no midwives to be found
On the streets of David's town
In the middle of the night
So he held her and he prayed
Shafts of moonlight on his face
For the baby in her womb
He was the maker of the moon
He was the author of the faith
That could make the mountains move
It was a labor of pain
It was a cold sky above
But for the girl on the ground in the dark
With every beat of her beautiful heart
It was a labor of love
For little Mary full of grace
With the tears upon her face
It was a labor of love
It was not a silent night
On the streets of David's town

Mary was a courageous young girl when she gave birth to the Baby Jesus.

but its a good arrangement.
Andrew is a true artist in writing his songs.
so beautiful..what note or key is this sung in?
This is beautiful, but I really miss Terry and Heather. It's just not quite the same point of grace sound without them.
