I hope you don't mind bad audio. I've been experiencing some trouble with the audio input of my camera. I hope I'll find a way to fix it soon ;)

I feel the same way! I have so many started...then I get distracted and start more!

It's crazy, right? I really want to stop doing that lol. Two or three books at the same time is ok, but more than that is really difficult to manage.

Wow, War and Peace is a beast of a book to be read alongside other things!

Hello! As I mentioned on Instagram, I have a habit of reading a few books at a time. Three books seems to be my max. When I find myself working on more than that, i end up feeling paralyzed and stop reading all together. My problem is if I am not totally enjoying a book, I find myself looking at others on my TBR shelf and want to pick those up. I have had a mediocre reading year. I have had very few books that I really loved.

Probably that’s what happened to me. I’m enjoying some of these books a lot, but none of them have that mesmerizing quality that makes us read it quickly until the end.

Atonement is one of my favorites! It is heartbreaking, but I was satisfied the way the author handled the ending. It's a story I will never forget, and I love my Folio Society copy too :) The writing plus the illustrations make it a real gem.

The Folio Society copy is really stunning... :)

Ohh just finished Robinson Crusoe. It was quite interesting! And I'm glad that you're liking Fanny from Mansfield Park. She is truly an interesting and nuanced character and is very underrated.

    • @BookCravings

She is! And I like that the story isn’t entirely centered on her.

I listened to Neverwhere - narrated by Niel Gaimen and it was really really good! I have hear that these is a good full cast narration of American God's - maybe that will help you get into it!
You made me very interested in trying something from Daniel Dafoe and all your videos on the Little House series have also made me want to read one. Happy reading!

The Little House series is adorable, I strongly recommend it! Defoe is very entertaining. If you enjoy having fun with a light fast-paced reading from very eccentric pov characters you probably will enjoy it. Moll Flanders is great!

I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm a fan of these kinds of episodic narratives.

I don't understand why anyone reads more than one book at a time, really. As a lover of literature as high art, I feel like I am betraying the book or author by not giving it my undivided attention. I have tried reading two books at the same time, and I really felt like I wasn't focused enough and the art within the pages didn't resonate with full clarity.
Am I the only one that feels this way? What are your thoughts on this Renata?

    • @BookCravings
      @BookCravings  Před 6 lety +2

I agree with you, but there are some things to consider. In my case, since my work involves constantly reading, including texts that are not necessarily readings that I have chosen, I have become accustomed to reading many things at the same time. Then, due to indiscipline, I ended up replicating this habit while reading fiction. But I definitely agree that the ideal is to read one work at a time. :)

American Gods I didn't like but I do remember that it picks up as it goes along. What you see at the very beginning is not what it turns into by the end.

Good to know! The narrative is interesting, but the pacing so far is a bit slow.

Off topic: you should really invest in a microphone. Your book channel is my favorite, but the sound quality is sub-par.

Oh I'm struggling with the audio input of my camera. I must get it fixed to be able to use a mic again. 😰

How do you even remember what's going on in a book after 6 months? Lol
I can stetch anthogies but not a novel

Me too, but since the beginning of the year I've started keeping notes summarizing each chapter. This way I manage multiple readings a little better, but in the end I regretted reading so many books at once lol

You must be rich to buy so many expensive books.
