  • I fish the Cogden section of the Chesil Beach on Tuesday 23/4/24.
    Fishing the large flooding tide (1pm - 8 pm) , I target plaice with mainly worm baits using loop and pulley rigs
    The water clarity was good, so a good chance of success
    Parking at the National Trust car park (Cogden) which is free for NT members , walked down to the beach (500 m) then about 400 M towards West Bexington. The path is wide and well maintained
    First time fishing at Cogden , the pebbles are small and walking if relatively easy (compared to the Eastern end of the beach)
    Blow lug supplied by Reel Fun fishing ( Portishead) and the frozen blacks from Dave Richards Angling (Newport)

    I was in the distance towards Portland,had a few dogs a whiting and a single mackerel, a trawler which was in one of your shots had been up and down trawling then dropped a Gill net so you did well to get a plaice , nice video

      Thanks for watching, you had a good day then !! Looked like some nets about 150 yrds off shore near where I was but I don't think that was the problem. Bottom felt very soft where I was fishing , some leads took some pulling out , so perhaps not fishing on the clay beds ??

      Thanks for watching , hope the fishing is better with you ! It was great when all the others left, so I could run the drone up / down the beach

    Another cracking vid with some top shots. Fished it Thurs 25th, baits not touched, not even the squat lobbies turned up, weather got squally and rough, last man standing at 17:00, I'll be back!🥴

    Some lovely drone shots of the beach and good info about Cogden, as I plan on fishing there in September. At least you didn't blank.🎣👍

      Thanks for watching - A lot of chat on FB about the amount of netting / trawling in that area. Wish I'd kept the plaice now !!

      I'd seen a lot of people moaning about that boat on FB, my dad was a commercial fisherman, so I see both sides.

    Looked like a lovely day, especially with the off-shore winds. Hopefully your reel seat remained in place OK. If it moves at all, just add a single coaster to lock it in place (like the Century ones have, which I find works well). Tight Lines.

    The crab possibly could have been a masked crab

    • @fishingat
      @fishingat  Před 4 měsíci

      Thanks for taking time to comment and watching. Having googled a masked crab, yes it looks a much better fit to a small spider crab which don't appear to have the long antennae from the head (as I think I remember) and the legs look the same .. A new first then on the crab front
