    This video shows the process I use to replace a defective battery in the ipod nano 7th and 8th gen. A defective battery can cause your ipod to not power on, have connection issues, and or loose charge rapidly.
    Tools needed:
    -Replacement battery
    -Size 00 Phillips screwdriver
    -Plastic pry tool
    -Metal pry tool
    -Fine flux core solder
    -Soldering iron

    Nice video. My gen 7 I've used SO MUCH since i got it like 10 years ago and still want to use it. Only works when plugged into power source. Im confident in my ability to do this but my soldering skills are god awful. Soldering guitar cables hasnt gotten any better all these years later. Thank you

My nano has been stuck on the Apple logo and i was going to throw it away...mind you i have ALL my music there...I thought of checking here to see if there was a fix and VOILA! i found your video. Now i am going to order the battery, and try to do this, and see if i can recover all my music! (will update after my attempt).

    Todos estamos aquí por lo mismo: “la batería”. Yo tengo 4 iPod nano 7g, además de muchos otros modelos ya que aún en pleno 2023 no hay nada parecido en el Mercado y he tenido que recurrir a comprar ipods de 2da mano. El diseño, la portabilidad, el software interno, etc. Cada detalle es una pieza maestra de Ingenieria pura. Yo mismo acabo de cambiarle la batería a un iPod nano 7g gracias a este video. De momento ese es el que usaré para salir a correr o andar en bicicleta. Los otros 3 los guardaré porque no me atrevo a reparar todos. Lo que sí tendré en cuenta será la inversión en baterías para mis otros ipod y un kit para desmontaje de estos aparatos. Cuando los compre jamás me imagine que llegaría a esto pero ya no hay servicio técnico y todo esto es muy nuevo para mi. Ya es muy difícil adquirir uno y para unos 5 años ya este modelo estará definitivamente muerto y solo será una pieza exclusiva de coleccionistas y gente muy fan porque serán aparatos vintage muy costosos.

      Una pieza maestra de ingeniería pensada en mantener al usuario comprando y comprando hasta que ya no vuelva a encontrar soluciones a los problemas diseñados desde el inicio. Apple hace cosas muy buenas, pero no duran nada, y por el precio de sus productos deberian respetar mas a los consumidores.

    I normally just deal with the "classics" but i really love the 7th gen nano, but im not paying what most people are charging for them on ebay, plus you will probably have to either throw it or do this anyway at some point. THANK YOU for this, Ive subbed and confuident too that i can now buy a dead one and bring it back to life. Cheers. Looks really simplle but i bet its NOT. Cheers

    I have one from years back that just suddenly stopped taking a charge or lighting up or responding at all. It's like it suddenly wouldn't turn on or something. Do you think this would fix that?? I've always wanted to get it fixed and recover all my old music and photos and stuff

    My ipod bluetooth connection is weak. When it is in my pocket, music can freeze or just lost till bringing it very close to my airpods. Could the reason be battery or just bluetooth is already older on these devices?

    Hi, very helpful video I recently bought one of these with a battery problem and i’m gonna follow your steps to try to fix it, i’m new to soldering and wondering when you were lining up the new battery to the solder did you just heat up the metal you put on the battery to make them stick together? thanks a lot!

      Basically. Be sure to preload the metal tabs on the battery with new solder, heat up the tab, then place a small amount of solder onto them. Careful when lining up the tabs, and do not put too much solder.

    what kind of glue did you use to secure the cover?

      Apart from this step, everything was good. I think he uses superglue(secondglue). It's not so easy to get it open again and definitely damages the Bluetooth antenna.

    Do you have a suggestion or link for a known reliable source for replacement batteries? I am reluctant to trust anything from ebay unknown sources. many batteries i have gotten there have been terrible

    Everything was going good until that last part where you crazy glued the fucking BT shield😂🥴 Seriously just use some good double sided sticky tape. That way when the battery goes out again you can fix it again.

      That's what I was thinking. I'd use the least sticky glue I could so I could get it apart again. My nano spends 99.5% of it's life in a case, anyway.

    APPLE ALWAYS MAKES EVERYTHING SO DIFFICULT, LITERALLY BREAKING OPEN THE NANO TO PLACE A BATTERY IN IT, AMAZING

      Hi, I followed all the steps but when it came to soldering the battery out it wouldn't come off easily so pried out while soldering. Put the new battery in but now it won't work at all. Any ideas? Did I pry out the connector pins? Is there anything I can do before I conduct the last rites? )-:

    I'd assumed running Bluetooth on my Nano 7 was what was draining it sooo quickly. (I bought it 2nd hand, last year) Guessing now the fact that its battery is probably so old, its pretty hard to get though just one album without it dying on me?

    Could you please provide some soldering tips for replacing the headphone jack? The flex ribbon connection to the board is so small/delicate, and seems like there is high risk of ruining the ribbon.

    hi again, so I did it , but I l accidentally put too much iron to a point where it’s just a blob on the battery part would it be fine if i left it as is? I cannot seem to figure out a way to remove it

      As long as the solder is not jumping into the other tabs (connecting negative to positive) you should be okay. To remove excess solder just heat up the solder and use a copper wire to extract the excess.

    I am trying this now an when trying to get the screen out it is seperating the digitizer from the screen. I stopped because I didn't want to break anything and when I pressed it back together the digitizer does not work as intended now :(

    Any advice on how to care for the device when the battery is in good condition? Drain it fully and then charge it fully?

      Sorry if this is late but you should keep your battery between 20-80%. Leaving it dead or fully charged for long periods of time will destroy the battery.

    Why is my ipod's inner circular port not white like yours?
    Can I add that part in too? Im having problems connecting to my headphones/aux port.

      They are either black or white, depends on actual color of iPod. If you are having problems connecting to that port then it does need to be changed. I can make a video of that if needed…

      @@TheFixTech That would be great! I bought my iPod on eBay and I think it was refurbished and I think they took out the white plastic part that covers the inner circle port. And now the connection messes up easily and distorts the sound.
      I'd like to keep this iPod for as long as possible. :)

    How would you know it's the battery ? Mine will show a full charge, but a few minutes later will show "low battery".

    After seeing the warning "Do not insert tool too far, pry up on sides" I successfully disassembled the glass from the frame and it's a mess... should have took to computer shop. All that music is lost now. Se La Vie (Good videos tho... just needed more experience knowing where to pry)

    OH NO. DONT USE THAT SUPER GLUE! now it will never be able to open in the future. that glue drys too hard, you need a softer glue like what was included with the ipod.
