I was sitting in that front crowd that day, and made 2 side bets for a total of $40 for Justin Wong for this set. The whole crowd was tense and it was hard to blink because you didn’t want to miss a second of what was going on! However, when Storm was KOd in that Game 5, saddened and accepting defeat, I pulled out the dough to pay off the 2 people I made the bets against. Then, at that very moment, when I saw Akuma do the Gou-shoryu super and hit Phoenix in that game 5, I screamed the loudest yell I’ve probably let out in over a decade! It was the craziest $40 i ever won in my life, and it was beautiful. I miss those days.

I remember walking into the Evo hall, sitting by myself while friends were away and just ready to enjoy some matches. I swear the gods graced me with this match. I remember this match to this day. Phenomenal play from both of you guys.
Fchamp dropped so combos tho
One of my favorite Evo matches of all time. I still watch this religiously to this day. Had you not dropped that storm Infinite against Flocker in 2013 you would’ve been a back to back Evo champ. Legend.
I've never rooted for someone in the FGC as hard as i did for Justin when he won UMVC3 that year. Incredible fucking times man. Justin saved Marvel.
I love the candor in your commentary JWong. Sure other people would have talked themselves up when re-watching the match but you were very open about your mistakes and why they happened. Keep up the good work man. Good luck to you in your future endeavors.

I would say you NEED to be modest to get that good. If you refuse to own up to your mistakes just because you won the match, you won't learn as much as the player who tries to learn from all their games. It's admirable that Justin can be so honest with himself and his audience and IMO that is a big part of how he got so good at these games.

I used to just appreciate FChamp as just like a heel, but didn't really like him. Being new to the FGC, I learned that he's actually a really cool guy who labs things out with people and coaches them when he's not on stage, and that whole heel thing is just a character he does. That changed my perspective so much and now I greatly respect and appreciate him.

I like this tape thing watching fighting game tournaments is hype and I was like man i wonder what they are thinking when they are fighting their opponent
i didnt think that was luck when i saw this evo . i was watching in my computer chair like "OH SNAP HOW DID HE PERFECTLY TIME THAT SUPER!!!!" but knowing the truth makes you more relatable cuz i've had my share of luck based clutch moments. nothing on any stage but still.

These videos are great. Keep doing them for different games. The explanation of the unique tech is also a nice touch so if you keep doing that it would be great. I never played Marvel but it was always hype to watch Top 8.

Out of all the videos on this Channel i feel this mini series is by far my favorite keep it up. Also i have a question maybe someone in the comments might know, there is an old match j wong had i could almost swear it was evo it was in the training room stage and he was able to snipe someone with a raging demon while storm covered him. i know this is little to go by i have searched through all Best of Justin Wong videos you can imagine and like a song that bothers you until you find out the title, this bothers me greatly. I hope anyone in the comments might know what match i am talking about. Ty for your time reading all this

Champ would be even more godlike if every single game that season he went back to character select screen even if he wins, and then if he makes it to an important final and wins a game, then select "rematch" instead 😂 that could throw somebody off enough to be rattled going into the next game
