Different solider. The one we save is in the Marines, this guy is a Ranger. All the randomly generated NPCs use Infinity Ward employee names (well at the time they were made)
@Attila Wilhelm Liubei Well yes and no, A marine can be Ranger qualified if they go through Ranger School. But that does not make them part of the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Sgt. Roycewicz may not be with us brothers, but we will never be forgotten for doing the ultimate deed, he is by far one of the bravest and one of the best, along with his fallen brothers.
In the remastered version you can actually save him from dying when you leave on the chopper, just kill off all the Russian troops that will go up on the roof
It's indeed really hard to leave your comrade behind when you train together, work hard together and goes on mission together to find out there's no return untill one of you stay behind.
Imagine the next call of duty game just being roycewicz’s life. You have a short part as a kid for like 10-20 minutes, then you move on to his military career. He joins the USMC, goes through boot camp, becomes a private, and then it eventually lines up with the events of “the bog” mission from cod 4 but from his perspective. He gets saved by Jackson and is super grateful for it, a few days pass, he’s moved over to a different team, then he learns Jackson died in combat. He takes the news hard since in the game, Jackson would be like an older brother to Roycewicz, but then Jackson dies. Roycewicz then continues on, rising up the ranks, and never forgetting how his best friend saved his life. Then fast forward a few years to the events of this mission shown in the video (I think it’s whiskey hotel but I’m not sure). He and the rangers are pushed up to the roof and they’re loading onto the chopper, but there’s too many Russians. So Roycewicz thinks back to how he was saved by Jackson, and then he looks to Ramirez, who’s telling him to get to the helicopter. Roycewicz would then flashback to when he was saved by Jackson, and then he decides to do the same thing. He gets on one knee and starts shooting, every shot killing another Russian, every dead Russian gets replaced by ten more. But Roycewicz doesn’t stop. He sees the helicopter take off, but he doesn’t care that he’s not on it. He keeps firing, and then is hit in the shoulder and gut. He drops to the floor, and sheds a tear knowing that he was successful, as he’s finished off by a Russian soldier. And then the game ends, and the credits roll by with pictures on the side of Roycewicz growing up and going through the military. The game would be very successful in making people cry their eyes out. And, if done correctly by not having a multiplayer and it’s not written badly, it could easily become the best cod game ever.
Back when I was a kid, in mw2 on Wolverines (iirc, the one where you hold the burger town), there was this random character named pvt morgan. For some reason I grew attached to him cause I wanted to try and see if I could help him survive the entire mission. Unfortunately tho, it seems he just stays in this one spot towards the end and you gotta abandon him. Made me sad lmao
In general, in Call of Duty there is no point in saving someone, because 90% of missions are temporary cleansing. Russian Gulag, suburbs and surrounded Washington, African and Brazilian thugs, Makarov's Dacha, etc.
Survived MW and the nuke, made it from Private to Sergeant and then finally gave his life for you in DC. Give that man the medal of honor, he didnt even think about trying to come with you, that's some real heroic sacrifice
That's some sad stuff. Reminds me of the battle of Macragge against the Tyranids. The Honor Guard who got cut down, staying behind fighting the Hive Tyrant so the Chapter Master could get away safely. Just as the last dude got aboard, all four bone Swords crushed the honor guard. His name now forever engraved in the Tombs of Heroes on Macragge.
