    Exactly. Sometimes calling ''FIFI COME BACK'' doesn't work and you need to act right away. That dog was in a very dangerous situation and by the length of that whip and the strength he used the impact was minimal and it was more of a ''I WAS TOUCHED'' reaction than a ''I'm hurt'' reaction of the dog to move away. He wasn't injured, he wasn't in pain but he learned a lesson and that's important. I'd much rather see him get a whip than being trampled by a bucking horse. That guy very well saved it

      That horse is not prepared mentally for that kind of 'breaking'. When you train horses you aren't sopuse to break anything. The horse is your friend, and breaking a horse like that will only lead to problems.
      And before you use your 'if you don't have any experience you can't say that that is abuse', I own 5 horses my self, and have loads of experience on educating young horses. And I would NEVER do that to another living being, that is just cruel and unnecessary.

      I've broke a couple horses in my life and some have more of a fit than others about it. One of my colts never bucked but others were insane. It all depends on the horse. He is not whipping or spurring or even jerking on this horse in ANY way. I'm guessing that you are one of those horse owners that says you have the experience but have never actually started or broke a horse in any way? Its different having to break them yourself than just buying an already broke one. Breaking is the term for making them sound in a saddle and not trying to kill you. NOT "breaking" their spirit. Any horse you can jump on and ride without them trying to buck you off is BROKE. If you are as experienced as you say you are with horses you would know that your horses that you ride are "Broke". He is not abusing this horse at all in any way. If a horse is bucking or rearing you MUST ride them out of it to teach them that it is just easier to not buck and to listen. If you don't ride or break a horse simply because it is bucking when you saddle it, you will never get anywhere with it. How would you have broke this horse? Please I would love to know because this horse is a horse that would have never stopped the bucking habit even if you tried to ride it a different way.

      Why the hell would you brake a horse instead of train or tame him? I have been riding for few years so you can't say I've never been on a horse or I have no experience. I mean, horse should walk around with saddle and bridle without fear before you mount him and what this video showed... Is not horse who is not afraid. And I thought the goal of training a horse is that he doesn't rear, buck and thet he accepts the rider. So why on earth do you kick that horse when he stops bucking?!? (at 1.05) You should praise him! That is like you're learning him to buck and telling him (with kicks) that being calm(er) is wrong. At least read a good book about horses before trying to train horses. Because what is on this video seems like a man who watched to much cowboy movies.
      Btw, why do you say break a horse? Why would you want to breake him? It seems like you want to destroy, hurt him. And people are doing this when a title in a video says 'breaking a horse'. Man, some people are crazy.

    • @torgersonfarms6917
      @torgersonfarms6917 Před 9 lety +2

      Wow... Maybe you should mature a little before you try to explain how a horse is trained to ride.. Because I'm guessing if I told you I had a dead broke show/trail horse you would think that it was terrible just because I used broke? That is a common horse term. I'm not sure why you think it's not. Ask any real horse person and they will tell you that. I have owned horses since I was 4, and started breaking at 15. He has a different way of breaking but colts buck when you are breaking them! This horse isn't scared! It's pissed off that there is something up there and wants it off! He is asking the horse for FORWARD MOTION because that is what you do when you ride a horse! You would know that if you had any common sense at all. This horse in particular was stubborn and didn't want to stop bucking, therefore you ride it out and get forward motion WITHOUT the buck BEFORE you praise them. I say breaking because that's a term horse people use to define a rideable horse! We aren't "breaking" their hears or souls or anything! Just making them sound or "broke" to ride. Like breaking in a brand new pair of boots. The level of stupitidy these days is overwhelming!

  • @baylenjax
    @baylenjax Před 11 lety +8

    My friend, you can really ride. I'd have been off in the first 2 seconds. Some horses just buck because they can. This horse may have been tamed but only for ground work ect. Once the saddle is on and you are in it. Its a whole other ball game. Horses have 2 sides to there brain, one side for thinking and one side for reacting. This horse was reacting. In the end, you see no harm come to the horse. The rider did a great job and didn't harm the horse, just rode out the buck. Kudos!!

You get the horse used to the saddle and don't clap him with spurs and a loose floppy seat all over the place in the saddle and MAKE HIM buck. It's stupid to buck out a horse.

    This isn't actually a hard break, nor is it cruel. The rider ain't beating the horse, the horse is just reacting (bucking) and learning its not working, nor is the rider causing it any pain. Eventually it will stop trying to buck and realise its much less work to just go along with the rider. There are cruel ways of breaking a horse (trying a leg up and riding it etc) but this isn't one of them. Now this is not the easiest way of breaking in but bravo to the rider, well sat and handled he'll have a nice horse at the end. For those of you saying the horse needs to bond, he will when he learns the rider isn't hurting him, but if you somehow think having a horse friendly and trusting of you will guarantee the horse won't buck, you are dead wrong. The tamest of horses will argue and will buck at some stage, its just a natural reaction and its not cruel.

  • @horsesrotflol
    @horsesrotflol Před 8 lety +39

    Yes this is harsh but I wouldn't call it abuse. It's a fast break and a buck out, and nobody here knows this horse's history. He could have a problem with bucking people off, or he's simply being broke. It's not slow and steady training, but it works. The horse calms down once he realizes his rider isn't going anywhere and he starts to figure this whole "saddle" thing out. He's not irrevocably scarred from this, and he's likely a work horse who'll spend his days in a field anyway. He's not being forced to do anything complex-simply carry a rider.

    • @ashleighadams5180
      @ashleighadams5180 Před 4 lety +2

      You don't understand this at all then because this is just teaching the horse bad lessons. I would agree with you if they were attempting to work him at the same time but they are not doing anything that would distract the horse from bucking, he probably went right back to bucking after this video ended. This is a horrible way to train a horse. Training requires months and months of patience, this is the fast way to show a horse you're boss without any reguard for the horse's well being or safety.

    This is very typical of a young horse have a saddle fully cinched for the first time. Nothing can really prepare a horse for the weight of a saddle strapped down except the saddle (it's even in books, spoken by trainers, and taught at my college to use 2 people to get the saddle on then get out of the way as fast as possible in case he explodes). I do agree however that he should not have mounted the same day and done more work with JUST the saddle until the horse was 100% confident with it.

So what if your family does all this title winning crap, maybe us "cowgirls" know a thing or two you don't maybe we are trainers maybe you know things we don't in some areas, but don't think for a second your above all of us and that your superior because even if in some cases your our your defiantly going to get your ass handed to you

      Kaleb Brooks a guy I'd bought a couple horses from ottb had one that people couldn't handle he had no manners...he bucked jockeys off. He brought him out to turn him out for a month.
      Now I'm not saying I rode him, I'm good at ground work. I took the pushy sob put him in a rope halter with a big heavy snap on it and in 30 min I had him walking like a gentleman at the end of that loose rope with flags trashbags etc all over him. He was tied to a tree sleeping when the guy that owned him drove in and wondered where that horse came from.
      He would've made a nice ranch horse but he went back to NM

    The reason the new methods are here (in my opinion) is us modern day cowboys dont have the sand those old time "bronk busters" had and we dont drag enough wet blankets off our horses or put wet ones on. with modern tech. we have more time for ground work. I am glad i was able to work under one of the old timers in my youth, two rides in the pen and he would fling the gate open and we were gone...didnt always come back with our shirts but those horses we BROKE wouldnt quit you in hard times.

    1. That´s not how you are training a horse, this is how you are breaking a horse.

    That dog needed whipped. The only different is its a whip, what do you do when your dog does something wrong, use newspaper? your hand? trust me a whip hurts a lot less! and Dogs need to learn not to chase horses if they are going to make it on a farm

    I see a lot of people saying this is normal. Its not if the ground work and bases are done correctly. We do the mustang makeover and focus on ground work. You cant ride a horse who doesnt know ground work like the back of the hand. I had a horse that was hard broke "cowboy" broke and she tried to kill everyone. Not always the best way

    I say good job to the rider, all that colt needed was a little time to blow some steam, he didnt do anything to make the horse buck, some colts dont like the feeling of having a saddle on their back, they feel like they cant get rid of it but they get over that pretty quick

    Personally I dont see anything wrong with the way this cowboy is breaking in this youngster. He needs to get used to the feel of the saddle. I would've waited a little longer before riding him to give him more time to get used to it but everyone trains differently. At least the rider wasnt hurting the horse in any way. He just sat up there quietly and let the horse have his temper tantrum. Kudos to the cowboy.

    I don't believe that this is abuse at all. He is not forcing the horse into anything, but rather just giving the horse the idea that he/she is not in control. Many older riding styles did this, and it worked. While I personally don't, it's not something I'm against. Also - some horses don't accept the ground training. I have a filly that is against any kind of ground work, and unfortunately we're having to break her will to work with her. Some horses need this kind of work.

    In my opinion, if a horse bucks like that after putting the saddle on, and after getting a rider on, it's simply not ready, and you should go back to basics. When i first mounted my coming 4 year old, she was ready, accepted the saddle nicely, and didn't bat an eye when i finally got on. It's about the preparation, this horse wasn't ready for the saddle, or the rider. And riding a green horse with those size spurs? Wow.

Sure, I don't think I'd ever break my horses this way, but it doesn't make it wrong, it just makes it different. Everyone has their own way of doing things, and yeah some ways are just ruthless, but I don't see anything wrong with how this cowboy is doing things, if it works, it works.

    I dont understand why people continue to 'train' horses this way. There are much better ways known these days. This horse is in the fight/flight response and is terrified. His mouth is even open while he's bucking, that means he is truly terrified for his life.

  • @allymb11
    @allymb11 Před 9 lety

    This guy did a good job. There are different ways to train a horse and this is one of them. It isn't cruel. And for you equestrian people this is how you do it in the cowboy way.

  • @twoponiesequine
    @twoponiesequine Před 12 lety

    I thought it was from a "bucking string" the way he bucked with only the saddle, but I'm guessing from the other comments he's not. If the horse is prepared for the saddle, and time is taken, this does not happen. Not exactly bonding. I don't think I'd want to do it that way!
