- In my opinion, this is by far the best air compressor 2021! Now I can't answer if this is the best air compressor for air tools since I don't have any (yet!). But what I do like about this Stanley Fatmax Silent Air Compressor is that it's so quiet! I can't stand working with a noisy air compressor, and I'm not a big fan of wearing ear protection. With the Stanley silent compressor, I don't have to!
So if you're not in the market for a super high-end shop air compressor, I would totally recommend this one. The low noise level makes all the difference.
This is probably the best portable air compressor I have ever used!

Check out this very practical usage of this compressor: czcams.com/video/6-3iq1urxi8/video.html 😉
thank you very much Gordon Ramsey
Thanks for talking during the running of the machine, this gives a lot better indication of the loudness of the machine.
Thanks for your comment! I was hoping that would be useful for someone! :)
Just came across this I'm looking for a small quiet air compressor and this is exactly what I need great video cheers 🏴👍🏻
Great video. Thank you for uploading. 😀
Thanks!
Köpte denna efter din recension/Bought this after you review - unpacking now!
Jeg så denne på Jula, kommer til å kjøpe den etter å ha sett videoen din! Takk! :)
Kul! 😊
Oh yeah! Damn I'm thinking I need to buy one. I don't need one right now... but it's so quiet. Gotta have one. Quieter than the rooster also.
BTW, decibels are tricky to compare. However 60dB compared with 116dB.. the louder one is a whopping 630 times louder.
Haha, yes, you definitely need one! It's one of those nice-to-have tools 😆
Oh, didn't know that! But it makes sense, since my chainsaw is crazy loud!
Great review 👍🏻
Thank you! 😊
@@TryingToBuildStuff your welcome! I watch many videos on different subjects from power tools to crypto and you have great humour and camera presence!! Keep doing stuff like this because I reckon you will be very popular 🤙🏻
@@James-lk9ho That comment just made my week, I really appreciate that, thank you! 😊
I got this one, and LOVE it! It´s way more quiet IRL then the video tells you.. You can compare it to the sound of a fridge, just a bit higher than that and you can have it inside while working. One of my best buys..
Totally! It's amazing 😁
Buen vídeo 👌👍💯👋
Thank you!
I would love to use this for airbrushing - what connector would I need to run it?
Perfect video, helped me with decision.. hope rooster doing fine 🙂
Happy to hear that! 😊 Yes, the rooster is still around and hanging out with our 3 hens 😊
@@TryingToBuildStuff 😀 Thanks for reply
I have the Fini version for stapling but it’s not working properly after not using it for 2 years.
Therefore, fire it up once every 1-2 months even if you don’t use it often.
Some people can have this in their car for tire-inflating and vacuum. 2x nozzle-attachment. Also camper-van blow water droplets (accompanied blow nozzle-attachment) from grill, ...
Compressed air is stored energy. What voltage and what battery some worried.
Im still waiting for that rooster recepy... 🤤 😂
Anyways, after seeing your review i went and bought it.. Mostly for using an airbrush but it is so versetile i think this will be the best compressor to use allround. Thank you for putting your time and effort into making this video ✌
yo! i bougth one for that reason to, can u tell me the parts that i will need to connect my airbrush cable to that compressor? i dont have info about the size etc of the connector in the compressor
Ahh, I do indeed love this compressor, so silent compared to construction compressors, nice setup
You helped me to choose 😌👍
I'm happy to hear that! It's so nice to be able to work on stuff without having to use ear protection all the time 🙂
Thanks for your comment! 😊

Container runs outs pretty fast and compressor do frequently cycles, have you faced overheat problems/trigger yet?
@@amtechprinters3339 no problems with over heating so far, what do you use it for?
@@TryingToBuildStuff For now mainly blowing parts with airpistol, about 3bar and 2mm ID nozzle which is not much as flow, very pointy bursts of air
It feels to do like 1min cycles 🤔 6Liters is not that much indeed, but when its full 8bars its 48liters, 3bar output theres about 16liters to blow out with this poor math 😂
Nice review, probably worth calling out that it's only 3.7 CFM though so if you want to use even a small HLVP gun it won't cut the mustard, but great for tyres/general blower duties I'm sure.
Thanks! And yes, very good point! 🙂
Just bought the same one on your recommendation. Noticed that mine (and yours) doesn't have a pin in the safety valve. Photos online show that they are suppose to have them. Do you know whether this is the case?
Noticed that too. Had a look at the store a couple of weeks ago, they still sell them without the pin, at least where I live. Have no idea if that's on purpose or not, sorry!
Regulation changed to stop the rings being fitted. People were pulling them to drain the compressor which wears the safety relief valve and doesn't drain the water from the tank. Removing them forces people to drain from the correct place at the bottom tank drain.
I want to spray paint some my of car parts. Will this air compressor be powerful enough?
Honestly, I'm not sure. Never tried it with a spray gun :) Pretty sure the compressor would run non-stop though, since the tank is pretty small.
Varför saknar säkerhetsventilen en ring du kan dra i?
you think this is good enough to use for spraying fences?
Might work! Probably going to run the compressor quite a bit though :)
I wish they made a silent version of this DN200/10/5
btw sound dB is not linear, 120dB is not twice as loud as 60dB....it's a lot lot more
Yeah, that would've been amazing.
Hehe yes, I learned that right after posting this video, thanks for reminding me!
You're right about sound amplitude not being "twice as loud" at 120 dB vs 60 dB. However, humans perceive sound in a logarithmic fashion, which is why decibels do actually feel linear.
@@TryingToBuildStuff bought it few weeks ago and really happy with it
not as portable as the DN200/10/5
but portable enough for my needs and it's not annoyingly loud when it needs to refill (which of course is very often having a small tank)
@@HeadBassVTEC happy to hear that! 😁
can you pump tubeless bike tire with it? My dat used 25 liters of air to pump my tire so I guess... not?
25L for a bike tire? 😮 Well, I guess you could pump 25L, but the compressor would be running quite a bit 🙂
Can it be used for aerating my rainbird sprinkler system?
Ok, to be honest, I don't have a sprinkler system, but I did some reading and some simple calculations. Apparently the recommended CFM (cubic feet / minute) for blowing out sprinkler systems is 25. While the PSI should remain around 50. From my (highly unreliable) calculations this compressor should be able to deliver up to 116PSI and a CFM of 148 (based on Wikipedia, that 1 CFM = 0,4719474L/m, and this one delivers 70L/m). Guessing you need to do it several times though since the tank size is just above 2 gallons (8L).
Again, I'm really not sure, but if what I've concluded is correct, this should do the trick :)
If someone else knows more about this, please leave a comment, this was an interesting question! :)
@@TryingToBuildStuff 1 CFM equals about 30 LPM, so 70 LPM translates to just below 2.5 CFM. This is way below the recommended minimum value of 20 CFM for sprinkler systems.
Why this one has two gauges? And what's the difference between this one and the mode 100
Seems like one is the regular pressure, the other is for some kind of pre-set pressure, whatever that means. But that's what it states in the manual at least. Not really sure what the difference is :)
@@TryingToBuildStuff thank you for the video man ,👍
@@mohamadzaza5194 Thanks for your comment! :D
with only 6l can it inflate car tyres effectively?
That's what I use it for :)
Do you think this could be used as a compressor for a barber to blow off hair ? Etc
yeah dude definitely
Yes, for sure :)
Amazing idea. I would love to be a client of such a barber shop.
@@darek4488 it's common here in the states...
@@dank9288639 Here in Poland they all use hair dryers to blow away the cut hair.
what about the yellow dst 100 version, what is the difference?
That's a really good question. Just tried to compare them online and the only difference I can spot is that the yellow one seems to be a tiny bit lighter (1kg). But part from that... it seems to be pretty much the same specs? Hm...
@@TryingToBuildStuff hmmm thanks for the reply, I wonder where is the 1kg hiding :) but the price difference right now makes me want to buy the yellow one :) maybe the only difference if the additional pressure meter?
Hehe, might very well just be the pressure meter! And the color! And that they slapped the "fatmax" stamp on the black one, indicating that it's tougher in some way ;) I honestly have no idea!
@@TryingToBuildStuff I'm just comparing the specks : 36 x 36.5 x 37.5 cm; 16 Kg - 36 x 36 x 36 cm; 16.3 Kg , 750 watt - 100 watt (probably a mistake) , I can't find it on their official homepage ???
I think the safety valve on your compressor might not be complete (the thing on the left of the tank manometer). There is supposed to be an orange plastic cover and a pin that you can pull out to test the valve (i think?). I took mine back to the store and got it changed to one that had the valve. They opened many boxes and saw that almost all of them were missing. There might be a manufacturing error. Beware
Oh wow, I didn't know that! Thank you for sharing! I'll need to check that!
The manual says not all fatmax is equipped with the pull valve.
👍😀
Should the safety valve on this compressor be unscrewed during normal operation?
Hi, why does it have 2 manometers?
Still trying to figure that out! Seems like one is the regular pressure, the other is for some kind of pre-set pressure, whatever that means. But that's what it states in the manual at least. To be honest, I'm just looking at the left one!
Hehe.. 🤣 "5x Recipes for Rooster.." 🐓🔪
Is the STANLY sticker on the air tank removable or the text is printed to the airtank and it's a protection covert tape?
Thank you for your aswer!
Just went out to the shed and checked. All the stickers are removable, so you can go full black or add your own stickers 😊
This thing has enough power to clean your car carpet ?
I guess it would. But it will probably run the compressor non-stop. The tank is a bit small for continuous use, but then again, it's so quiet so I don't mind it :) Depends on how long it takes for you to clean a carpet I guess ;)
brilliant can you spray cars with it
I'm not completely sure, the tank might need to be a bit larger for car spraying? Never done that so I have no idea :) I just imagine it would need to hold a bit more air to get a consistent spray. Guess you could hook up a separate pressure tank or something perhaps :)
ok it might be ok for mini spray guns cheers sir
If you hold the blower fully open will.the compressor.keep up??
That's very quiet! If you are worried about the volume of air you could always buy and connect a big tank to that tiny one.
Pro: more continous airflow- if you need to spraypaint something you would need this, otherwise your paintjob would suck badly when the rank gets more empty.
Con: your compressor would need to work for a longer time to get to 8 bar when you have the bigger airtank.
Good advice! For me personally that small tank is no problem (not doing paintjobs, yet!), especially since it doesn't sound like a busy airport when filling it up :D
@@TryingToBuildStuff what do you think, would it be ok to use it with airbrush?
@@lomofanas I believe it would!
i have igual , but mine come to 8 bar and down to 6 and stop , why my dont stop in 8 bar??? some one can help me?
slapping the pressure gauge for no reason is the stupidest thing you could have done
It's not the best air compressor because i does not have a moisture trap in the system like 99% of others do. Therefore water droplets are blown directly onto the work which can obviously cause havoc depending on what you're using it on. It's pretty much unusable for anything other than blowing away cobwebs, unless you're happy spray water all over the object you are working on.
I’ve never seen a compressor with a water trap after the tank from factory. You can add one though.
99 % got taps for water. Maby not a model from 1950. Its a commen that water collects in a cold steel body. Adding putting presure on it from the outside air. Every month i have a glass full of water in mine.
1.Did you get paid to do this review?
2.Did you get this product for free in return for a review?
Great questions! I should probably state that in the video or in the description :)
1. No
2. No
I think my channel is a bit too small to attract any kind of sponsorship deals, so this was paid for with my own money. I use it regularly, perfect for my needs :)
Hello!
There is a yellow one on the market, not FatMax, same 6 Ltr air tank, but has a slightly higher power. The price is somewhat 10-15% lower compared to FatMax. Do you happen to know what the major difference between these two?
Thanks!
Sorry, I have no idea. It might be louder? :)
@@TryingToBuildStuff with little research I made, it looks like the major difference is due to increased power, the time to fully charge the air reservoir is shorter. Thanks for the reply anyways. 🙂
