My lolo CARMINO ATIENZA YLAGAN'S HOUSE (C.Ylagan y Ambrosia Aseron de Noble) is featured in the first few minutes. It is opposite the Ylagan/Ilagan house of our great grandlolo/lola's (nuno) house of Y/ILAGAN-ATIENZA where lolo Carmino was born.
The ancestral house is now 100 years old and following oral tradition of Lolo and Lola is now being under the possession of Drs Edwin and Therese (Samaniego) Ylagan who is a direct descendant of Lolo Carmino; the doctors paid for the complete restoration of the house, and to this day pays for the maintenance expenses, including taxes. Everytime that Taal volcano threatens the Taal homes, the family doctors Edwin and Therese hire workers to prevent ash build up especially in the roof which can destroy roof structures and cause the house to collapse. Recent ash build ups were heavy. The family is welcome to visit the house with prior notice to the doctors so that the house can be made ready for visits with food and other necessaries for a convivial and relaxing stay. No airconditioning is allowed in order to preserve the capiz windows but portable airconditioners and electric fans can be used. Thank you for the genealogy on the houses. My daughter is an historian and worked in the National Historical Commission.
We hope that the monied people who buy out old homes do not destroy our beloved town. We pray to our Lady of Caysasay in Barrio Mohon in Taal and San Martin de Porres for this Grace.

I find walking tours really authentic. Until now nakatatak pa rin sa isip ko yung walking tour na sinamahan ko 10 years ago. Ang swerte mo sir may kasama kang historian. Always in awe of all the infos I am getting from this video. Sana makabalik ulit ako sa Taal. Baka type mo mag-organize ng tour kasama ang mga teachers. Hehehe. Bias ako dito kasi guro ako.
