At the 2023 CTWC, over 100 Classic Tetris pros gathered at the Portland Retro Gaming Expo to vie for 48 seeds. Qualifying consisted of 2 hour attempts where players would try to rack up as many great scores as possible. In a 48-seed bracket, the Top 16 seeds earn a bye out of Round 0, while the bottom 32-seeds compete for a spot in Round 1.

What’s the new rule set exactly? The speed increase at 39?
@@PichettoFratame Yes, last year...the matches took way too long, and they had to do something. Though 29 for DAS players is still a kill screen. For rollers, it's just a 2nd transition.
I know it was asked to the live chat, but:
I think the tetris differential is a very benficial stat, but i don't like it alternating. The point value being in solid green or solid red not only tells you how far behind someone is but WHO is behind in a single bright color. The tetris stat does not because of how much smaller the text is, but its great for context. Maybe if the TD had a single static position between two scoreboards, or was placed below the points themselves? There are options. As CTWC incorporates more stats it'll need to strike a balance between necessity and readability. I really like that the runway stat only appears sometimes for that reason.

In the 3rd match between Pokénerd and Huff it had a 36 I-piece drought and then a 35+ I-piece drought are absolutely mind-boggling!
In the other game 3 match there was a 46 I-piece drought; these matches are quite insane!
That does lead me to this question: is there a way to track the longest shaped piece drought (NOT just I-pieces) in any Tetris history?

Hey, I’m Brighton in the video. Though I agree that commentators should focus on the matches and treat them with the respect and importance that they deserve, it was also at the very end of the day, and we had all been there for like 8-9 hours lol. So try to cut them some slack, though I was a bit bummed watching back the game.
