  • At the Say Tian Hng Buddha Shop in Singapore, a family has been making Taoist effigies by hand for over 100 years. These creations are hand-carved painted statues of the various gods that Taoists worship. The Ng family is the last of their kind in Singapore keeping this tradition alive through a combination of public workshops and tours.

    I like this video too it’s nice to see how the Taoist Community is flourishing in Singapore I really wish it could be the same here in the Philippines. A Taoist like myself couldn’t worship as openly as we want to. 🙏

      @Jacky Phantom nope, my great grandparents escape/leave China to Malaysia to escape the civil war, my parents came to Singapore to work and I was born here. So I'm like 100% Chinese, I think. Actually, the misconception of native religion in Philippine, that catholic is an native religion which is not, Spain and America colonized Philippines while bringing in Christianity. I don't know whether the native religions still exist in the Philippines.

      @@micahdunwoody6555I agree,
      I live in a small town in Colorado. There is a Buddhist Dharma center about 50 miles away but nothing for Taoism. I have practiced both Buddhism and Taoism at home by myself for twenty years. I wish I had a community and a master to transmit the teachings to me. If I had the money I would like to spend a year in a Taoist temple and learn Taoism from a real master. ☯️☸️☯️

    In Hong Kong, Taiwan and Japan, anime figurines are already sculpted in place of gods and buddhas, because the amount of worship to those anime characters are already much higher than actual religions get. Not that it is bad, but it is a real and interesting modern phenomenon for traditional crafts adapting and diversifying to modern day market demands.

    Statues of all gods in any religion are made by people and their hands as well as those of virgin Mary or Jesus and we all worship and pray to our own culture and believes no one god is greater or do better goods than other ones. All religions teach to do good, it is up to the individual to carry and spread the believe.

    • @Eddies_Bra-att-ha-grejer
      @Eddies_Bra-att-ha-grejer Před 2 lety

      @@RubelliteIsHere It would depend on the plastic being used. There are filaments that contain wood fiber as well, and the statues would still obviously be painted afterwards. 3D printing would only replace the carving of the wood.

    • @WhatName6
      @WhatName6 Před 25 dny

      They only use 3d printing for contemporary products. Some Taoist sects believe that it's best to use wood because it has the most spiritual energy, it's really hard to bless a plastic statue because plastic is completely manmade and doesn't have spiritual properties

      It's a Chinese religion, it's a fusion of 3 philosophy, Buddhism , Confucianism and taoism. (and a little bit of ancient beliefs way back). It's similar to Hinduism, have reincarnation cycle and all that stuff.

      @Jacky Phantom I don't think so, since I'm Chinese, Chinese folk religion is quite old, have their own
      Polytheistic faith already. Just like most countries at that time. Is just that the monotheistic religion (Abraham) spread throughout the world while destroy the indigenous faith there.
