- This song was written by Cynthia McQuillin in 1983, and originally sung by famous filk musician Julia Ecklar. This version was also sung by Ecklar, with guitar by Karl Franzen, Bass by John Land, and drums by Kurt Moore.
On July 16, 1969, the Saturn V carrying Apollo 11 launched from Launch Complex 39A with its eyes set on the moon. Today, November 16, 2022, that history is echoed as Artemis I launches as the first in a series of complex missions to return humanity to the moon. During this flight, the spacecraft will launch on the most powerful rocket in the world and travel farther than any spacecraft built for humans ever flown.
Bear my soul to touch the universe beyond.

One of our greatest achievements as a species
definitely one of the achievements
It is an achievement of certain nations.
@@user-jl3yq9hv4v hardly. The NASA team was composed of Americans, but also lots of German scientists from the former Nazi regime, with increasing amounts of foreign born scientists joining the team as time went on. The Soviet project was pretty similar in this regard.
This isn't to mention all the different people involved in the manufacturing, resource collection, processing, and other industrial work who go uncredited to this achievement despite also being necessary to the projects success.
While it took place within an arbitrary boundary, every little piece of assistance came from different corners of the globe.
@@pennyforyourthots Still you refer to certain nations.
@@pennyforyourthots nothing is every done alone. So I think it isn’t wrong to say that America did it, because they assembled the team.
Fly me to the Moon, and let me play among the stars,
Let me see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars...
Deserves 331 million views like the last video hopefully soon man will expand to encompass the entire Solar System
Will he? According to modern ideologues the conquest of the Solar System is an evil reminiscence of colonizer mentality.
@@jancyraniak4739 thats not the exact mentality its more of a retarded "why" response most times but hopefully we can overcome that
umm if NASA didn't get their funding slashed post Apollo we would already have bases on every planet, full blown cities on the moon and mars, only the entire solar system is not ambitious enough, if we want to guarantee our survival as a species then we would need to expand into multiple solar systems, eventually much of the milky way and even parts of andromeda and the other smaller galaxies in the local group.
Congratulations with the Artemis launch from Russia!🇷🇺❤️🇺🇲
Love your Space Age Song videos, Avtovania✨
One step at a time, we climb the ladder.
My dearest wish is to live to walk on the red planet.
Thanks.
It is a lunar test run. It will put a human on the moon in 2024 and a human on mars in 2034.
Eternal glory to the Soviet Cosmonauts! The first men and women to touch the void of space!

Thank you for allowing me to find some of the best songs hidden out there!
Goodjob, NASA and Artemis!
Man, this makes me emotional.
Especially the part between 0:46 - 1:15
That's what a true contralto sounds like. The rarest female voice type
I know it was the united states achievement but all of humanity should be proud 🌎
US? Do you even know that we - the Slavs sitting behind the Iron Curtain - beat Americans to space?
@@jancyraniak4739 The song is about the moon landing
@@Hypergen- It's overally about space conquest, it does not mention where those 3 men were heading.
@@jancyraniak4739 it is an achievement of all mankind
@@jancyraniak4739 That’s what Julia Ecklar wrote the song about originally though

GOod song
This song actually gave me confidence to ask out my ex who was my first girlfriend
That's interesting, anyways I have a GF although she's taking her own time beacuse she's depressed and said that she needs to recognize herself or she will hurt me and well the funny thing is that we both like this song and she has said to me that she thinks I am gonna be an aerospace engineer.

filk musician? might want to fix that description
"Filk" music is a genre of folk-styled music relating to science fiction and fantasy
ah sorry
@@Actovania thanks.
Yes, I distinctly remember that this was the future promised to us, the children of the Cold War era. Then the Cold War ended and somehow instead of stars we have sex parades. Something went wrong...
I’m not a child of the Cold War but I still hope we can achieve that dream
we can achieve both
pointless wars to benefit corporate and the MIC's interests. thats where the funding went
@@eggisfun4217 One of those is less an achievement and more a sign a civilization is on the decline.
@@stevenschnepp576 Fair enough, Though we should still accept Bisexuals, Homosexuals etc. Idrc about the parades tho
American propaganda music has its charm tho
Its more spacer propaganda than just "American Propaganda"
Sure the Americans made it but its more relevant in going to space than anything American
