- On September 16, destructive waves hit the coast of South Africa.
The country's weather service has issued a Level 5 warning for damaging winds and waves.
Storm surges have caused damage to a number of coastal communities in the Eastern Cape and Western Cape.
Waves up to seven meters high and winds of 70 kilometers per hour were recorded.
Numerous beaches and municipal infrastructure were damaged.

As if one generation is going to move out without a reason. I as my family for 5 generations back have lived on the Atlantic. Irma and Maria finally displaced me, temporarily. My father is in total shock about how the weather has turned, a third generation farmer.

At 1:13, it's terrifying just how fast they come in towards you. When they were just a little bit farther out, it seemed to be just splashing around a little bit, and maybe it wouldn't come all the way in, but then all of a sudden it's coming right at you at top speed, with no chance of escape.

Nothing unusual. Some Spring tides are bigger than others. Building right near the sea that has these occurences is crazy amd they should take extra precautions. These are just Spring tides. Can you imagine a true tsunami happening. Even their building structures are not adequate for the power of some waves.
