    I own a 2005 Vette and a member of a local Corvette club so I can tell you we get strange about our cars! That's a nice one for sure. I must admit the shop and the content have improved over the years. But what's important is you produce great lessons into diagnostics on every automotive video.

    Your videos, which I came across about 7 or 8 years ago, have saved me and my immediate family thousands of dollars over the years.
    I used to buy and install parts, then cross my fingers and hope they would fix the issue I was having. Can you guess what the first 2 things I would normally replace back then were? That's right, plugs and wires. 😂
    Your videos helped give me the understanding of automotive systems I needed to accurately diagnose, test, and fix problems with no guesswork.
    Today, my financial situation has vastly improved. So much so that I could easily afford to pay someone else to work on my cars, but I still choose to do it myself.
    While I still hate seeing the check engine illuminated, I do enjoy chasing down, finding, and fixing the problem myself.

      Great story and total exemplifies the intent of the channel. It’s amazing how good self-diagnostics will help your financial situation. I can’t remember the last time I had to pay for any auto repair. At easily $500 minimum for just about any repair now, that’s a ton of money saved in itself. For most people a single auto repair can wipe them out for months.
      Congratulations on the successes!!

    Hi Matt, your analysis video's are amazing. I first saw your Fuel Trim video in 2022 while in Covid isolation. They were soo interesting and is now my "goto" for anything fuel trim related. Your MAF Sensor video is just as great. I wish I had seen your videos before selling my previous car that ALWAYS had a check engine light and the repair shops just played with me. never fixing it, just delaying the next light. Thank you from Perth in Western Australia.

    Three months ago I didn't even know what a vacuum leak was. Now I looked at the freeze frame and thought: "well, that's probably a vacuum leak, let's see if FTs improve under load". That's one of the things (I could list many more) that your channel (and granted, my own research) accomplished, and I'm sure that many other people will agree with me. Thanks again Matt, glad to see that people recognize your virtues!
    What I'm not going to thank you for are my two thrashed computer monitors that I punched while watching Eric's "tune ups" on misfiring engines, something a couple of months ago would have been my main course of action too (unsuccessfully).

It was completely mind blowin knowing there's some one out there thinking the same way i do about diagnosis, although i didn't know anything about how EFI works. The channel intro was my mantra, literally. I was just a diy and now i actually open a shop thanks to you, and now i'm starting my own channel. I wanted to make a video just for you to thank you, but it didn't have a camera till now, i'm going to make you one in these days, have uploaded to my channel for yo to see it please, i have so much to say to you. I have no idea how to use a video editor, and i will try to make the videos more acceptable for youtube, since they were recorded very quickly. I'm from Argentina, so i speak spanish, but i will do a translation for you because i think is nice to show how much my life changed viewing the diagnosis and understanding series. That fuel trims video is the first one I watched as I was hunting around youtube looking for info on why my Pontiac had a P0171 back in 2016 or so. I found South Main Auto the same day and have been following you both since. I've learned everything I know about troubleshooting modern (newer than 96 is modern to me....) vehicle systems from you two. Also, the hummer joke cracked me up. 😆

    Awesome. And how fast the long term trim reacted is what surprises me. Even in the initial throttle opening when long term dropped so quick with the vacuume leak. I thought it would take longer to drop…relearn . But I’m new to trims at 61 years as hd mechanic and enjoying this stuff. Thanks

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yes it surprised me too. Generally speaking, GM vehicles usually show LTFT reacting almost instantly. On a lot of other vehicles and especially Fords, I am used to seeing even a couple minutes for the LTFT response! This car was pretty much instant.

    I had to have my first Ventus machine replaced because mine had a leak in the bottom that allowed all of the fluid to leak out.

Sometimes I have the DTC P0171 & P0174, mainly when running with E85 ethanol but even on premium gas when decelerating. I plan to put a new PCV and I wonder if it's better to plug it before of after the MAF sensor. I guess before the sensor, in order this one mesure the quantity of air coming also from the cranckcase. Otherwise this air could be considered as a vacuum leak. Am I wrong ??

      Completely agree. In my opinion, sports cars should be build “from the ground up”. Most everyone starts with as much horsepower as possible and all this does is create low traction, break driveline components, create horrific handling and insufficient braking. In extreme cases it can even twist the vehicle frame permanently rending the vehicle undriveable.

    Why did the check valve on the booster line even allow the pressurized smoke to pass through it? I feel like you almost found the leak when you shouldn't have. Seems like the check valve is allowing flow in both directions.

    • @SchrodingersBox
      @SchrodingersBox  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Yep great observation and I wondered that myself. I believe it’s because the smoke machine only puts about 1PSI output out. I validated this by blowing through the check valve and if I blow very gently I was able to blow a little bit through it but if I blow really hard through it it totally shuts off. AIR check valves on my trans am work the same way in fact- I assume from your screen name you have similar and can try it. Not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to work hahah but easily 17PSI of vacuum (colorado altitude) is sufficient draw to totally close the check valve.
